Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible. Do NOT get this for your kids!! They will charge out of their butts for a service that only benefits them. I was fine with the $8 payment but three times in one day they charged me $16. In total I was charged $48. And I was unable to cancel my account, I had to ask permission. I had to pull a stop payment through my bank even with proof. Still waiting for my money back.

I have successfully managed to locate your account to review this on your behalf and it seems the charges you have experienced were for outstanding membership fees. As Acorns Early is a subscription service, we do have a monthly fee required to be paid in order to utilize the service.

my card did not arrive

my card did not arrive. and when someone reached out they told me to replace the card via the app but that comes with a fee. No thanks.

They reached out again stating to pick the lost or stolen option and it says that a 5 dollar fee will come out of my account yet again. They have not remedied this. I am at a point where I am going to go to a different company.

Update: Please be assured that replacing the card as lost is free of charge. There is only a fee to replace the card if you are choosing a new custom design. If you require a card replacement, then we are more than happy to get this ordered for you on our end. Please kindly respond to our email so that we can assist you accordingly.

There's some things I would change in…

There's some things I would change in the app.If I could thank you so much, I think you guys don't think about real life situations like when I first received the card. My daughter was having issues activating it and using it in store even though I had the features it turned off. So that she could use it for whatever purposes she wanted

My name is Monica Russo

My name is Monica Russo. Acorns has literally stolen my child’s money via the kids debit card. We requested several times over months for the account to be closed and the balance returned plus the monthly fees we accrued. We were advised via email that it would be taken care. Several months and emails later to Acorns they closed our account and stole the balance. I’m contacting the US Attorney General. This company is a scam.

It was a pleasure speaking with you regarding your review. We understand that there have been some declines on the card due to the weekly and single spend limits that were set up. As you have now adjusted these, I'm confident that the card will now work as expected.

As a reminder, the first in-store transaction will need to be made using chip & PIN and I have emailed you the steps on how to retrieve the PIN within the app. After this, the contactless feature will be activated and your child can tap their card.

If you do encounter any further problems then please do not hesitate to contact us. We are available between 9am - 8pm EST Monday - Friday and 9am - 5pm on weekends.

So Far So Good, A Week In

We’ve only been using Acorns Early for a week now, but it’s been a great way to begin financial conversation with our 6 year old. There are few things that would be nice to add to- an easier way to log in for younger kids, possibly pictures for the tasks if they are not yet fluent readers, but overall we are very impressed. We also don’t love that as a parent you have to budget monthly for acorns early on top of the alllowance that comes out, but I get it - they have to make money too. Just seems like everything in life has become a monthly subscription. It would be nice to have the option to pay it outright for access to the program.

This app is perfect for ages 6 and up

This app is perfect for ages 6 and up. Assigning chores, earning money and setting your own interest rate on savings. The child can set their own savings goals, auto savings, just like a regular bank savings account. I have two children, one does chores without asking and they earn a weekly allowance, the other child isn't there yet and only earns money for chores they check off the list. And I can customize it for each child.

Over all great

Over all great, just wish transactions from parent or child’s account was easier to do for when my kids don’t have their cards but want to make purchases that come from my account.

Unlocking my son’s financial brain

Love what acorn has unlocked in my 7 year old son. He enjoys using his card as well completed task to get paid. The card declines more often than I like despite having money in the account, but even in that there’s a lesson to be learned.

Highly unreliable and not the best…

Highly unreliable and not the best option for kids . I paid $1500 to Pay mine , Literally for the kids . i got more than $150 earnings every week . Acorns Early needs to do better and be more reliable . There are lot to consider beyond the deceptive positive reviews . I have learnt that the best companies have little or no reviews . The kids are our future and we want the best for them ,
