At the beginning of the year, I contacted Affordable Family Law for support with my divorce process. I needed help with a consent order regarding our shared flat and arrangements for my daughter. I was quoted £1,350, which I was told I could pay in three instalments. Based on this, I agreed to proceed.

We had one online meeting, during which Mark assured me that everything would be fine and that he would help me sort everything out. As I was already dealing with a very stressful situation, this reassurance gave me confidence to continue.

After paying the first instalment of £500, Mark sent me two forms (D81 and Form A) to complete. I told him clearly that I didn’t understand many of the questions. His response was simply to fill in what I could and send them back, which I did.

After submitting the forms, I didn’t hear anything for two weeks. When I followed up, he told me everything was fine and asked me to sign the documents and return them. However, when I reviewed the forms, they contained many errors and incomplete sections. It was clear they had not been properly checked.

By that point, I had already paid the full amount, so I felt I had no choice but to continue. I sent the documents to my ex-husband, who took two weeks to sign them. After I returned the signed documents to Mark, I again received no response for over a week.

When I followed up, I received a very brief email telling me to send the documents myself. I was shocked, as I had expected professional guidance and support throughout the process.

Only then did I start researching on my own and discovered that I needed to pay a court fee—something that had never been explained to me—and how to properly submit the documents.

I emailed Mark to express my dissatisfaction with the service. His response was to label me a “vexatious client” and refuse to respond to any further emails.

As a result, I have lost my money and received no meaningful support with my case. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and upsetting. At a time when people are most vulnerable, it is deeply disappointing to feel taken advantage of.

The staff we are working with have been very informative and patience with questions.

I am very pleased with the service I received. I got a response from my initial contact within hours. Everyone was very responsive. I was struggling with finishing up my divorce paperwork and they helped me tremendously. I would definitely recommend and use them again for any legal assistance needs.
