Just ordered and ate from the new menu, the quality of the dishes is excellent, portions are generous and the packaging kept the dishes frozen throughout the journey to delivery

We've been buying from Aktar at home for a couple of years now and in the past it was a real treat. I've raved about it to friends and thought that every dish we tried was of a very high standard. Definitely restaurant quality, generously portioned and simply delicious. What an earth has happened! Our most recent delivery completely failed to meet our expectations. The curries are now mainly sauce and of the ones we've eaten I've had to add pulses to make them a meaningful meal. Very disappointed and not sure that we will be ordering again.

We've had several home deliveries, the first during lockdown. They have all been good until the latest which was very disappointing. The nans as always are excellent and the chicken biryani was really good. But the kadela curry looked and tasted like chickpeas dunked in Heinz tomato soup and the beef curry had hardly any meat but lots of gravy. I suspect that while the original curries were produced in their kitchen the new menu comes from a factory, mass produced for greater sales.

We have been very pleased with the mixed box curries until now but we have just had our 1st poor one - Gosht Sagwala; not very tasty and not a lot of beef cheek.

Wish I had looked at the reviews first. But I trusted the brand as Aktar is well known and successful. What a mess. Have not tried the food as it arrived defrosted because despite DHL having the parcel in time they delayed delivering it by a day with no reason. They ignored the labelling saying it should be delivered next day. Since other reviews have mentioned the failings of DHL it is entirely on ASktarathome that they continue to use this useless company! And what makes it worse is the ciustomer service of DHL and Aktarathome is non-existent. Neither have replied to my emails. So very disappointed - just going into hospital so wanted these curries in the freezer while I am recovering. EDIT: Customer service did respond and after a couple of emails offered a replacement. Looking forward to seeing that arrive in a couple of weeks. Added a couple of stars for the offer.

First order of a mini mixed curry box and won’t be the last. Arrived by DHL on time. Had the chicken Jalfrezi and Hyderabadi Keema Matter tonight. The flavours were amazing. The naans are lovely warmed as advised with butter under the grill. Definitely recommend.

I've tried all their curries in several different orders, aswell as sending a box of curries as a gift.

Im a bit torn with this review.. In some ways you can tell the curries are made with good quality ingredients.
The meat is pretty good quality, and they are very rich, with lots of ghee, spices and in some cases bone marrow.

But in terms of taste, they dont scream "Michelin Star", and even the curries which youd normally expect to be spicy heat-wise barely have any heat at all (Madras and Vindaloo etc).

The pilau rice and naan breads are very basic and not good. I ended up swapping them out for bog standard supermarket naans, just because they had more flavour.

If you like really mild curries, then its probably slightly better than your local curry house, but not by much.

If you like curries with a nice amount of heat, dont bother as you wil be disappointed.

We absolutely love Aktar food and have ordered many times.

However their courier DHL has failed to deliver or lost our order on 3 separate occasions and DHL's customer service is non- existent.

Cannot afford the stress of yet another dinner party where the food does not arrive.

Sorry Aktar but until you change your courier we cannot take the risk of not receiving an order a fourth time

We have just placed our 2nd order - the first order was a mixed box - 8 people to eat - nothing to fault - some of the tastiest curries we have eaten. The naan's are superb. I hope our next order is as good as the first!

Delicious! We were gifted a voucher last Christmas so invited friends round to help us eat it all. So much food, all delicious. Excellent vegetarian range too.

One of the best at home meals that I have ordered - really happy to discover this place!

I ordered a mixed box and enjoyed everything. The madras was not burning hot like some places but had different flavours in every bite. There is a lot of meat, I'd prefer less but many love as is. it was so good I put in an order for ones I had not tasted and I am so excited to try these too. If you follow the naan instructions, add a bit of butter, I add garlic and coriander and gently warm, they are far superior to supermarkets ones. Fabulous.

My husband loves curries. He's eaten in some excellent restaurants. The promise of a Michelin quality meal made us try this company. We ordered 2 meals each with some extras. It was OK, but not outstanding. Frankly, I expected better. A good naan is a thing of beauty. These just tasted like the long life ones you can buy in a supermarket. Dry and not very nice. Rice good, but expensive. My main issue, oddly, was the large amount of mutton in my meal, but barely any sauce. I'd have been happy with far less meat and more sauce. Delivery was just dumped on our doorstep 12 feet from a busy road. Not acceptable as we were in! Would love to have found a gem, but we won't be ordering again.

Absolutely fantastic Biryani Box. Highly recommend. It was delicious. So flavoursome... Lots of food. So fresh. We all agreed we'd never tasted anything this good.
Will definitely be ordering again.

Disappointing Tandoori box, not up to their usual standards. So we ordered 2 Tandoori boxes for a 60th party, the quality was very poor, not like their other curries which are superb. The lamb cutlets were very fatty and some as big as a loin chop, the menu says Fillets Of Beef which implies beef fillet but they for sure are not, I own a butchers so we know our meat, this was tough as old boot, chewy and full of gristle. The rest of the box is made up of cheap chicken cuts again not blown away by the quality. Mint chutney was superb as were the nan breads.
We will stick with the normal curries from now on

We always love the food, their good allergy advice makes it easy as I'm gluten and dairy free. DHL let us down on the delivery and the customer service from Aktar At Home has been fantastic, quick responsive, helpful and assuring

Fantastic food & customer service. We ordered for a dinner party to celebrate my 40th Birthday in April & the food was incredible, it came really well packaged & there was plenty of it. Every dish was fantastic, I would highly recommend!

First time order of a curry box. There was plenty of food for eight people. Good sized portions and eight large naans. The standard of the curry was amazing. The delivery process worked fine and they arrived frozen and in a perfect condition. You will need to plan ahead to ensure you get a delivery slot on your required day

I make no apologies for basing this review purely on customer services as and not the curries as ive yet to taste them.
I ordered a substantial order for a large Easter gathering as recommended by my sister whose opinion I value.
The ordering process was difficult with items disappearing from the basket and the items listed only by their colour coding making it difficult to check the items ordered. Delivery was almost £9 , quite high and is not guaranteed for the day requested, however there is an assurance that items will remain frozen as the packaging is so effective. I expected a delivery slot to be allocated on the morning of expected delivery. It was not and I was expected to be available 7am-10 pm. Not practical for most people, but they don’t require a signature. No safe place asked for so technically they could be left on the road side in full sun all day for any one to pick up.
On delivery I unpacked immediately, none of the items were even partially frozen , which wasn't an issue to me as they were for use over the weekend. The use by dates displayed on the packaging are for months ahead so clearly based on the items being frozen. Their website states it is safe to refeeze providing some ice crystals are present. I find this highly unlikely and would not attempt to do so . I have a medical background and am aware of the hazards of food poisoning.
There was no deliverance information in the packaging and i had to upload the order to check it was correct. One item was missing. As stated this was a
specific request for a family gathering and was required. I however of course accept human error is always a possibility.
Contacting Aktar at home proved difficult. They have no direct phone line and are at pains to point out customers are not to contact the restaurant who actually has the Michelin star they happily trade off the back off as it is a separate entity.
I filled in an on line form expecting an apology, an immediately refund and a gesture of goodwill.
What I got was a response requesting photographic evidence and a copy of the order details I had already said was not present.
I provided what I could going through the bins in the rain. I received a response that I could have the item credited to my account, I actually requested a refund as at this time i was losing patient with the company and felt like a criminal . This was grudgingly accepted with a time frame of 10 days!
With no ability to communicate back as they were closed for the bank holiday I attempted to contact them via Facebook messenger, only to find this was only available to outgoing not incoming messages!
Im desperation I posted on their Facebook. It was factual and accurate.
A response appeared from Aktar at Home. It was derisory in nature to the point of being rude . It belittled my comments and made me out to be a moaning , inconsiderate customer and them a fantastic michelin star outfit , providing excellent products and services. Basically how dare I make a negative comment.
If you think this is a lengthy review , you should have seen theirs! They clearly have more time to respond negatively to constructive criticism than to provide decent customer service.
What a way to treat your client base.
I have seen similar responses, sarcastic, derogatory and disrespectful in nature to others who have had the audacity to respond less than glowingly.
I hope the curries are at least edible .
I have low expectations from an overpriced, over opinionated , disengenuous company.
Truly pathetic service and childish behaviour .

Ordered 3 times and each time something has been missing from my order. They will not send out the missing items separately either.
