I would give 0 stars if I could
I would give 0 stars if I could. I got on here with fever, aches, very sore throat, and spitting up bloody mucous. The dude on here told me just viral, nothing to do for it. I went next day and I have strep. Wouldn’t the bloody mucous and sore throat warrant thinking it could possibly be strep. Never will use this service again. Don’t waste $79 on this.

My appointment was on Sept. 14, 2023, and I waited on purpose to write this review. This was the absolute worst doctor experience I’ve ever had. Amwell was recommended by my insurance. I had a sinus infection, vertigo, sore throat, earache and a reoccurring fever. I waited in the doctor’s waiting room I choose for 15 minutes. I was switch at the last minute to a different doctor. I was too ill to care. The doctor prescribed me three nasal sprays which two I had. He would not listen to me regarding my history and said I would start feeling better over the next couple of days. The Visit lasted for 10 minutes, and the screen went blank. My pharmacy never received the prescription. I received a follow up survey and I let them have it. Long story short I ended up getting five prescriptions (only 1 nasal spray). Amwell never reached out to me. Don’t waste your money or time with AMWELL.
Not Well..Amwell
On the advice of United Healthcare Nurseline, I turned to Amwell telehealth services to treat my sinus infection. After calling their published enrollment number I completed my information by phone for a remote physician visit. Then the problem began. I was told that I was next in line for a physician call. I waited over an hour. After 3 more hours, 5 phone calls, online app requests, I never received a call. The app kept spinning and nothing happened. After speaking with an agent who stayed on the phone with me for over 30 minutes waiting for a doctor who was supposed to be available immediately we gave up. By that time all.my regular options were exhausted because it was too late to see anyone in their office. I wasted time and now I am worse and will visit my primary care provider in his office today, delaying my treatment. I do not recommend Amwell.
Told to go see my doctor
+Covid, did the risk calculator that said i should consider anti-viral therapy. The provider told me to see my doctor. And try vitamins and nasal wash. Not really helpful.

I logged in at 3:35 for a telemedicine appointment with one person in line ahead of me. At 5:10am I still hadn’t seen a doctor. I suspect the physician wasn’t actually online. Terrible service! I’ve used other telemed providers and never waited more than 15 minutes. I only tried Amwell because there is a relationship with my insurance provider. I do not recommend!
The whole thing is a scam
The report the Dr. filled out didn’t reflect what was discussed at all. He “prescribed” a netipot for a sinus infection instead of antibiotics and now I have bronchitis and have to go in person to another doctor anyways. Waste of money. I’m pretty sure this whole thing is a scam. Prescribed a couple things but when I went to pick them up the pharmacy said it was billed to insurance properly so they’d have to start over, and one they didn’t even carry and said would take a week so that wasn’t worth it.

Original Post 1 Star- Setup an account. Called insurance to make sure I was covered. Agreed to pay them money if I missed a visit. Time for the visit came and no doctor. Called Amwell and sounded like this was not unusual. I wonder if they are going to give me money for the doctor missing the appointment? I suggest trying elsewhere.
Updated Post - I updated this to 2 stars because after some effort I was able to see a doctor online. I believe the way they do it is just to put you in a queue and eventually a doctor who is not busy and looking to fill in some time logs in and talks to you. It doesn't matter if you are looking for a specialist etc. It looks like you just get the first available doctor. I'm not entirely sure that's how it works but from my experience with them it seems to be. Thanks
Amwell's billing/insurance is a nightmare!
Only reason they are getting 2 stars is because the physicians and therapist I have utilized have been wonderful. Billing not so much. I am suppose to have a $0 co-pay and there keeps on being an issue. Amwell can't get is correct even after numerous 3-way calls with them and my insurance. If it wasn't for the relationships I have established with the providers and the $0 co-pay, I would NOT be using Amwell.
No prescription sent
Had a five minute conversation with doctor, who said they sent over the prescription— it never arrived. So now I'm charged $60 for nothing.

Honestly I would give zero stars if I could! These unprofessional people are a joke!
I signed up with high expectations of getting some help with my mental health and hopefully be prescribed medication for my symptoms. However, when I log in for my very first appointment with a psychiatrist, I fill out all the forms they want me to only to find out the psychiatrist canceled my appointment at the time. My appointment was scheduled for. Absolutely unprofessional !!!! So then I decided well let me just give them one more chance I’m sure it was just some kind of mixup or maybe some sort of emergency. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. However, I set up my second appointment and go to login as starts only to find out the second appointment has been rescheduled for an earlier time which I had no knowledge of and they only sent a message in the app. No phone call no nothing absolutely frustrated and I cannot believe these people are allowed to run a business like this that deals with people’s health!
What an outrage! Please stay as far away from this company as you can. Whatever you do do not waste your time with these people!
Unprofessional service
Every single therapy appt I make gets cancelled at the last minute. I’ve been trying to schedule appts since the beginning of March and haven’t had a successful telehealth session yet.
Problems with billing and using insurance
According to the visit they ran my insurance and charged a different amount than my co-payment. I need to provide an EOB, checked with my insurance and they were never billed. Amwell Customer service stated I will hear from billing sooner than later and provided a case number. This company is unprofessional and does not bill or charge according to insurance coverage. They state that all call are recorded, but are not clear in regards billing, there is no way to directly contact billing and customer support goes to tell that they should have told me to check payment a with my insurance if had questions. You don't do this to people when they are sick. Stay away from them.
Beware! Poor Billing Practices
While the therapy services online are easy and efficient to access, the payment process is misleading. You are required to enter your insurance and debit card information at the beginning. There was no EOB from my insurance or statement from Amwell, for 10 months!! Leading me to believe that the services were covered. Then bam, weekly charges for 10 months get billed in one day!! So they filed ALL claims at once with my insurance and all were applied to my deductible leaving me with $3000 in bills. This should have been billed as we were going along to let me know that all were going to apply to my deductible. Along with my other medical bills I would have know how much I was accumulating. Poor billing practices! Beware of Amwell.
They need help.
3/17/23. Had virtual visit. Dr. Said he would submit a prescription. No prescription was sent. Called customer service. They opened a case. I had to write down the case number since they would not email/ text me a confirmation. Fast forward to 3/21/23. No feedback. Called again. They opened another case. Told me to call their pharmacy. I did and they told me I had to go to Customer Service. A completely inept, inefficient, inadequate company. Do not waste your money.
Tried to meet a doctor
Tried to meet a doctor, sat staring at a spinning load time for ~15 minutes. Cancelled and tried again, waited 15 minutes again before it said the doctor would see me, another spinning wheel until it then said 1 person was in front of me. Cancelled, back to the first doctor, and another 10 minutes wasted. Finally, an hour later, I went to an urgent care facility instead.

I used Amwell after having bad symptoms for two days. Coughing up my lungs, fever, chest congestion and my throat was on fire. I let the dr know my symptoms and told her I tested negative for Covid. She immediately asked if I was boosted and I told her I prefer not to answer. To which she LAUGHED. she then prescribed me an inhaler (which I TOLD HER would not be covered by my insurance —I work in pharmacy) and cough capsules. I told her I feel it’s possibly viral but I may need steroids to kick it and she said no. She said let it ride out. She told me if the inhaler isn’t covered that the pharmacy can call. I work in pharmacy. It’s damn near impossible to get in contact with tele health Dr for changes. Then my prescriptions never even got sent in! I went to my regular doctor who thankfully squeezed me in the next day and got diagnosed with bronchitis and put on high dose steroids and an affordable inhaler and cough meds. This was an absolute waste of time and money for me. Will not use or recommend. Not to mention there’s no way to contact the doctors without calling. Some doctors need to pretend Covid is a regular virus now a days and not jump RIGHT to it. Absolute bs.
Absolutely a WASTE of time!!!!
Absolutely a WASTE of time! AmWell doctor told my wife that all she needed was to get over-the-counter cold medicines, which we knew wasn't enough because she had already been using them for over a week at that point! She immediately went to our local Urgent Care facility, right after her AmWell appointment, even though she felt awful, and the Urgent Care doctor prescribed her the antibiotic and prescription cough medicine that she much needed. We STILL had to pay AmWell even though they didn't do anything!!! WASTE of Time! WASTE of Money!! DON'T USE if you want a correct diagnosis!

Terrible Experience
The Doctor was difficult to understand, she did not seem like she cared what I had going on let alone fixing it. I contacted customer service and requested a refund due to not satisfied with the care I received and was denied. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
