I have been on the phone well over an hour trying to resolve the issues. I called first and was told a doc would call in ten min. I waited 30 min called back was told a doc would call in 10 min. Waited 30 min AGAIN called back finally got a doc call. Received an email stating they were having trouble with my prescription (amoxicillin) called the FORTH TIME they have no record of my visit have been on hold for 45 min and now they are saying I need to speak to ANOTHER DOCTOR! This service is a JOKE!!!!!!!!! Don’t give them a penny

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible. I set up my account with my daughter as the dependent. Made an appt for her, the day comes for her appt and the app wouldn’t allow me to access her appt. Called customer service, she said it was something wrong with the app, told me I wouldn’t be charged and to make another appt. I made another appointment only to have the exact same thing happen again. I get my statement and they charged me for both appointments. Still haven’t received my $80 back.

I made an appointment around noon. I never received the email with a password and was told if I didn’t receive to call back before appointment. I called back a little after 4pm. The person attempted my other email address and again nothing received. The person stated she had to send to their IT as there is an issue. The sick visit was canceled because you have to have email access I was told for the virtual visit. Very disappointing and unacceptable to cancel a visit late in the day due to a known technical issue.

Needs lots of work.

I have had decent experiences with this platform, but also extremely frustrating ones. The decent ones were seeing a physician within a reasonable amount of time and getting their opinion/diagnosis on the issue at hand along with a recommended resolution. The frustrating ones included waiting close to an hour for an appt for my minor daughter, only to get next in line and be told the provider has declined to see a child. The most frustrating of which was waiting over 2 hours with 4 patients ahead of me, averaging about 30 minutes per patient, watching my place in line move up and get “stuck” at being next. I called Amwell and was told that this happened because I toggled between applications. This is either true or it was an easy scapegoat that placed the blame on me, since I admitted to toggling between apps on my phone when asked if I closed the Amwell app at all. Either way, it’s a huge issue that Amwell needs to address. Why would my place in line keep updating when I was toggling all along, only to suddenly get stuck?

Amwell, I recommend:
1) pulling the data you surely have of average visit time per patient for each physician, their average charting time, and then give your customers an estimated wait time based on that.
2) writing some kind of warning on your waiting room screen to let patients know that they need to sit there and stare at the waiting room screen indefinitely or else will secretly be losing their place in line
3) waiving visit fees as a courtesy when your app fails

Very unhappy with this service as a whole.

Never use this company

Never use this company. Their billing department is completely disorganized. I started receiving bills over a year after my last visit. They opened an individual account for each visit I made which created a billing nightmare. Absolute waste of time and money.

Had a sinus infection for over a week

Had a sinus infection for over a week, and the doctor makes a completely arbitrary decision that I don't need antibiotics. Ultimately, I went to the family doctor, and they DID determine I had a bacterial infection, and provided the proper medication. And, paid $79 more. It's definitely not worthwhile.

Bill sent 16 mos after service and claims processing

Patient visit was adequate and generally met expectations. I just received a bill on 12/2/22 for a service on 08/11/2021. They said my insurance did not process. Insurance shows claim processed within a week of service and was applied to deductible. Too let to submit for other reimbursement now. On phone Amwell said "well that's insurance"!

Don’t bother for under 18

Billed missed fee for cancelled appts, along with full fee for an appointment that didn’t happen.

Can’t schedule therapy online for under 18. The app tells you to call for an appointment. And depending on who you speak with, they tell you they can’t make an appointment over the phone for under 18. Also impossible to get a message through to your provider unless they gave you their contact info.

Try elsewhere.

My visit was in February of 2021 and it is now October of 2022 and I’m just now receiving my bill. If it takes 1.5 years for them to do their billing they are clearly disorganized. Since they are this disorganized I do not feel my PHI is safe in their hands. I deeply regret using Amwell.

Incompetent & Bureacratic

Save yourself time and go see an actual urgent care provider or even head into the ER. These folks won't save you even a minute of your time. I was badly bit on my hand by a cat that I was fostering and I know the drill -- cat bites frequently lead to terrible infections and even sepsis. I took one Amox-Clav we had left over from an earlier bite incident and then decided to try Amwell since we live on an island in Puget Sound and getting to urgent care isn't easy. Getting the appointment with the PA was easy enough. But she called in the wrong prescription. I didn't realize this til i went to pick it up and then there was no way to reach the PA. So I called customer support. They gave me the runaround, then put me through the prescription customer support people, who were busy and gave me a call back 25 or so minutes later. They reached out to the provider and she apologized for the mistake. The prescription folks then said they'd call in the proper prescription. I told them the pharmacy was closed and they said it was no problem -- that they would leave a message with the proper prescription information on the pharmacy voicemail. Now here it is morning and guess what? The pharmacy says they never heard from them. No message on the voicemail. Nothing. So I get to start the entire routine again. Call customer support, wait on hold, get the rep who can't help you and has to transfer you to pharmacy support. You can't call pharmacy support directly, then pharmacy support has such a long wait, you have to wait on a callback. And I'm waiting now but something like 20 hours after my telemedicine call I don't have the prescription I need to ward off infection from a really terrible cat bite.

Do not use this app all they will tell you to go buy Tylenol at the drug store. For 79.00 that is to expensive for advice like that. I believe I have strep throat and going to a real Dr.

Shady shady company & medical & prescribing practices; prescribed lethal dose of medication that end pharmacist (cvs) would not release, nor could get clarification from Amwell despite his repeated attempts; CVS pharmacist was a lifesaver & followed legal, ethical, & medical guidelines per federal, state and local regulations and health practices.
If you value your life, go elsewhere DO NOT go to Amwell…incompetent, shady, & illegal organization.

This service is a scam

This service is a scam. The Dr didn’t even talk to me for 2 minutes and told me to go to the er for no reason. I emailed customer service about it and explained when you take their little pre visit questionnaire that it said my symptoms were treatable. They said I would be issued a refund and when I asked about it for Four months straight they didn’t answer me. GIANT rip off and trash useless doctors. They should be shut down.

TERRIBLE! Shouldn't be allowed to list on insurance website

They said they would run my insurance but didn't. You have to pay the full amount up front "just in case". The provider didn't listen and recommended extreme treatment within 5 minutes but didn't bother to explain her reasoning or possible side effect, etc.

Unprofessional Mental Heath “Pofessionals”

I don’t write reviews, but I’m compelled to do so today.

I recently set up a therapy appointment through Amwell. I was working with a great therapist through BetterHelp and then saw that Amwell was provided through my insurance. BetterHelp made a pretty big dent in my checkbook (but great progress), so I thought I’d give Amwell a try.

I go to sign onto my first appointment today. I answer all of the history questions with honesty and after 3 minutes a message pops up that says my “therapist” cancelled my appointment and that I should see a drug and alcohol counselor. Mind you- I’ve been in recovery for years and this was an appointment booked for anxiety. If I were still in active addiction I probably would have lied and said I didn’t have a problem which is a common occurrence amongst chemically dependent individuals receiving healthcare. So, I thought I’d write her a note asking for clarification/recommendations and it appears she blocked me (couldn’t find any future appointments with her) which led to this review. Point is- that was the most unprofessional way some one who works in mental health to treat a person, nonetheless for their first appointment. Your provider is a joke. I don’t want to drop her name on a public platform because I don’t want my review removed.

For anyone out there working a solid program and are on the road to recovery- don’t book an appointment with Amwell. I’m going back to Betterhelp because it truly was better.

This software is absolute garbage

This software is absolute garbage. Doesn't work right on Chrome or Firefox. Who uses Edge other than to download a different browser? Useless system that should be shut down.

Amwell doesn't take insurance

Amwell will simply refuse to bill your insurance and charge whatever services they provide to the credit card you are required to provide to set up an account. Once they have your money they will make no effort to bill your insurance and will refuse to refund your money because they are unwilling to send an invoice to your insurance provider.
