I would give it a 0, but the system won't let me. I signed up understanding that it was free. At no point was I told it would be a subscription and I would be charged. I then had to call to get a refund, I had to speak to 13 people and got passed around to people who couldn't help and then would assure me they were transfer to someone else who couldn't help. Absolutely disgusting. One of the most annoying and horrifying phone systems with no one knowing what they're doing.
I have been fighting fraudulent…
I have been fighting fraudulent accounts on my credit profile since March 2025. TransUnion SA has refused to follow South African law for over 2 months.
What they did wrong:
1. Ignored Section 70(2) of National Credit Act: A representative admitted the accounts are fraudulent in writing on 27 May 2025. By law, TransUnion must remove the listing within 7 days + give me written confirmation. It’s been 61 days. Nothing.
2. Zero response to emails: I sent proof of fraud, ID, affidavits, emails from creditors admitting "fraud" on 27 May. Complete silence. No case number. No update. No "we’re investigating".
3. Refused written clearance: They sent one email with no letterhead, no signature, no case reference. NCA Section 70(2) says "written notice". This doesn’t comply. Banks still decline me because bureaus need proper clearance.
4. Damaged my life :But because TransUnion refuses to fix their system, every bank declines me. I’ve been stuck, stressed, and financially trapped for 3 months.
The law is clear: If a creditor admits fraud, the credit bureau MUST remove it in 7 days. TransUnion chose to ignore both me AND the National Credit Act.
If you value your credit score, think twice. When fraud happens, TransUnion will not protect you. They will ignore you until you get SAPS + NCR involved.
I’m considering opening a SAPS fraud case + NCR complaint because TransUnion left me no choice.
TransUnion, do your job. Follow the law. Section 70(2) NCA. 7 days. Written notice. It’s not optional.
Why this review matters: NCR checks HelloPeter when you complain. Banks also check. One bad review = pressure on their compliance team.
You’re not "complaining" Mama. You’re warning other South Africans + forcing TransUnion to obey the law.

the signup link found on their site does not work. i end up chatting with a frustratingly worthless bot that gives me a LINK to a different sign up page for the "service center", which is nowhere to be found on their main page, and their bot can't/won't tell me how to find it by navigating. so i finally make an account, but if i try the link the bot gives me to 'log in' to it i get an error. meanwhile it still thinks i'm logged in on another tab. i'm scared to log out. i'm scared to freeze my credit because i'm scared i will be unable to log in and unfreeze it.
unfuckingbelievable enshittification. wasted so much of my time struggling with this site. it should be criminal coming from a "bureau" that decides MY trustworthiness. I do not trust them. it's confirmed by the reviews here and every rant i've found about them online. so what's the point of leaving this review? i guess none other than getting it off my chest, since they just do not care. someone needs to burn this shit down.

Just like the exerian, which are similar companies 'Discrediting the individual', both received a report from 1st Central Insurance against me', but I have no connection with this insurance.' more than that, both signal different amounts on checkmyfile'. This is just a financial scam.

Don t trust transunion at all . Have like 8 years of credit history with no late payments , paid off loans with not one late payments and still get bad credit scores. They show balances that balances that have been paid off months ago. . It is a hit job. They are above the law and they know it

They responded to the CFPB with materially false claims.
They claimed an account had been removed from my report (it hadn't and still has not). They also in the same breath made it clear that if I didn't use their "annualcreditreport" site, I wouldn't see the change. What happened when I gave them the benefit of the doubt? I found They had outright lied. To me and the CFPB.
Consumers should not have to audit a credit bureau’s statements to determine whether what they tell regulators is true.

They don't solve issues, customer service is extremely inadequate. Their website is garbage and the login codes do not work. They only want to collect private information and data scrape, they have no morals or ethics. They do not answer the phone, the automated system constantly hangs up before you are able to reach a LIVE person. I spoke with a agent on the live chat feature named Alice (case number 29431088) who DID NOT HELP ME AT ALL....... Just ran me around in circles doing the exact same thing over and over again without solving my issue. Very inadequate and time wasters. They only want to collect personal information that they sell off to random companies.

How can anyone mess with someone's credit report adding incorrect information. saying default when both companies been settled when you raise dispute takes months to investigate but seconds to add to credit file as default.. stop messing about transunion it's not a game but consumers credit your messing with

In my case, it involved my SSN and DOB. Why do they think this isn't CORE CREDIT info? Furthermore, they offer monitoring for 24 months [it should be for life] and trying to enroll means going through a call center in India where NOBODY can here what I'm saying because there are many other people on the phone. What ghastly service from a major company. What impunity to minimize tha this was ONLY my SSN and DOB. Shame on you TransUnion. I froze my credit to protect it. You screwed up.

Any sensible person with any financial knowledge knows it’s best to do so, whilst earning interest on your cash in the meanwhile ….particularly if it’s a CASHBACK card !

Transunion dislikes people with good credit…
Transunion must dislike people with excellent credit like me. They dropped my score 53 points for using my 10k cc for a $124 charge. Ridiculous. I hope the U.S. Attorney General looks into the way they do things. Maybe congress can do something about this out of control business.
