APIA use deceitful tactics, Their 3rd party car insurance is NOT 3rd party green slip. This is not clear ly made known to their Aged elderly clientele.The gay guy who took my call , was very defensive and used smart arse comments " well if you hit a Bently you'll have to pay for it" ( I changed my insurance to NRMA )

Apia is a terrible insurance company, they are good at not paying out claims and they try every trick in the book to not honour a claim against one of there policies. Please beware of this insurance company

I was having problems with a car rental company & had to contact Apia for some information Having spoken to a few of their very helpful staff I was overwhelmed with NAKITA, She went out of her way to help me,She spent a very long time making inquiries for me and suggesting ways to go about things, I cant thank her enough & such a lovely young woman to talk to, Thanks NAKITA

Apia is becoming a greedy company , they kept putting my car insurance up by $300 each year as parts were dear??? My new dilemma is my elderly parents are paying over $4 grand a year for house insurance and they were so rude to them because they didn’t want the increase of house price as they didn’t think it was correct so once my parents dropped house value down they reply from Apia agent was well we will now charge you $1000.00 excess now, I am trying to talk them into changing as over &4 grand a year is utterly insane correct my parents insurance you greedy rats , I would love to speak on their behalf as they do not want $60 grand or more house contents and would like to be able to live not exist!!!!!! Grrrrrr 🥲 I would give minus 100% if I could I am not happy my parents are getting ripped off!!!

No choice of repairer. Only 2 options across 2 cities that have over 15 repairers.
There is no 'box' to opt for choice of repairer.
Immediate payment of excess required yet no repair till 2026.
Misleading texts for when repairs will be completed. Text 15Jul25 - advising completion end of 2025.
Repairer advised car booked in 9 February 26 for 10 days to repair medium damage on bottom of both drivers side doors.

DO NOT get insurance with APIA!
my father's claim is being delayed! with no valid reason. they already told his that the car has been declared a total loss but they still will not settle nor give any valid reason why they are delaying!
Absolutely Pathetic Customer Service!!!!!

After contacting APIA on several occasions regarding our claim and being put on hold numerous times and the department shuffle
we decided to withdraw our claim, I am discussed with their service and will not be renewing any of our polices

Two weeks and fourth attempt to cancel policy by phone. Previous calls were on endless hold and transfers to the 'right dept'. 58 mins into this current attempt and I am still on hold while "the right dept' pushes ''the right' button.

After my father passed away, and with my mother diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and unable to manage her affairs, I provided Apia with everything they requested: a death certificate, medical certificate confirming incapacity, and an Enduring Power of Attorney appointing me to act on my mother’s behalf.

Their response? Repeated, robotic, and legally incoherent refusals to help. I was told my father would need to personally request changes to the policy—despite him being deceased. The level of incompetence, disrespect, and outright absurdity in their replies is staggering.

I have now had to escalate my complaint to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), just to get them to process a simple and lawful request. Based on other reviews (like Peta P., who had a nearly identical experience), it’s clear this isn’t an isolated issue—it’s a pattern. Apia seems either unwilling or incapable of acting in good faith during times when families are already grieving and vulnerable.

If you're looking for an insurance company that understands basic legal obligations—or even just human decency—avoid Apia at all costs.

Not at fault, over a month wait for any kind of update. Just to be told a third party investigator will be conducting interviews, other party had already been paid by their insurer. I withdrew my claim and proceeded to other party’s insurance for recovering the funds.

Extremely rude, passive aggressive and unwilling to compromise in any way at all. I would not do business with APIA. They do not care about pensioners.

Highly recommend APIA for car insurance. My not at fault claim was dealt with immediately and the whole experience from the crash repairer to rental car provision was faultless, timely and so easy. Thank you APIA!

Do not insure with APIA. You will waste your time and money if you do. They treat you like a criminal when you make a claim, they're incompetent and it's you doing all the chasing as they rarely get back to you and when they do, they make things extremely hard for you. We've found someone else now thank god. Avoid APIA like the plague

Had a not at fault car accident on the 14th December 2024, It's now 12th March and now been told by my repairer that I may get the car back around early to mid April, so my car will have been off the road for 4 months, meaning 4 months of registration and insurance cost for nothing! I have paid 4 months car insurance and registration for a vehicle being off the road.
Absolutely an extremely long period of time for a repair. A Work colleague had his car in an accident and his car was off the road for 3 weeks.
I had only switched to Apia insurance about a week before the accident, I wish I never did.

I have two car policies and 2 house policies, I am looking at changing back to a more reputable company shortly!
Update now can expected to be returned now 8th May, absolutely useless

The worst insurance company my family memeber has ever dealt with! Apia are the biggest theives she paid for 6 years and then they tried to threaten her with withdrawing her claim ! Scared her to death hope they get what's coming to them! Run far far away from this company

I can't believe the difference from when you are buying a policy to a claim being made. I have been on hold for 1hour 20 mins still no answer . This is my first claim in 40 yrs , all our insurance is with Apia i will be going elsewhere once this saga is over , this is the second time i have been on hold just to follow up a small claim for over an hour. Customer service ............there is none !!!

My 80 y o husband being harassed by Apia Car insurance.No compassion as he could have been killed by a driver wiping off the car door as he was adjusting seats behind drivers seat He is deemed the responsible party & has been charged for both repairs, in excess of 10K $.Appauling lack of customer service

Underinsured by $125000 ! Very expensive, more so than previous insurer by nearly $500 P/A. Also much less coverage options than previous.Pay more and get less! Not competitive at all , very disappointed.

Jenny and the investigations crew who work for this company have a long memory. Helped my Jewish friend through the dramas they threw at him a couple of years ago (he was 80 yrs old then) and we beat them on natural justice grounds. Had my claim disallowed this year on after months of them lying about contact with me they never initiated.

Wanted an update on car insurance which was due. They say that they are competitive in pricing. Well that's a NO. Their policy came in nearly $200 dearer that some other companies. So much for giving older people a fair go. Dont even bother to get a quote. Compare the market dont even rate them. !!!+!++
