Each time I visit my home country (Romania), I rent my car from the “Autonom” Rental Car Company, and I have been doing this for the last +20 years. Generally, I used the Autonom Sibiu crew, but I rented from another Autonom location. Each time, my rental experience was exceptional. The crew is very responsive, honest, and supportive of your needs. Generally, the car is delivered and returned from your location (this is in case you do not like to pick it up from the airport). It is the best Rental car company in Romania. They offer the best variety of cars, most of which are newer models. Sometimes, the rented car has a lot of km registered on board (this is valid for all renting companies, and I have been renting cars all over the globe), but I never had a major technical issue – for example, for the car to suddenly stop or not start - with any of the Autonom rented cars. When I had an issue with one of the cars once (the oil light came on), the crew responded promptly with a replacement car. Please remember - you are renting a car, so it is normal for the cars to give up sometimes. What is essential is the way the crew is solving the issue, their courtesy, and professionalism
Their customer service is the best, second to none. I highly recommend this company to anyone renting a car in Romania.

Abbiamo affittato un'auto ford ecosport per 4 giorni , all'arrivo lo staff ci ha fatto avere l 'auto in massimo 15 min al rientro abbiamo fatto il check out in pochi minuti ed eravamo subito in Aereoporto per il rientro.

In 2014, l-am vazut pe unul dintre fondatorii companiei Autonom vorbind la o sesiune de investitii in Romania a Bancii Europene de Reconstructie si Dezvoltare si mi s-a parut un om super corect si deschis. In ultimii 10 ani, eu si sotul am inchiriat masini de la aceasta companie de 3 ori, ultima data in aprilie 2024. In acest timp. am inchiriat si de la alte companii prezente la aeroportul Henri Coanda -- Sixt, KfW, Budget. Bazandu-ma pe experienta noastra, nu as inchiria de la alta companie in Romania avand in vedere faptul ca (a) nu am avut niciodata probleme cu Autonom si ca (b) de fiecare data cand am inchiriat de la alte companii (cele care functioneaza in baza de franciza) am avut probleme. La Autonom, oamenii sunt politicosi, lucrurile sunt corecte, masinile curate si nu s-a fumat in ele, si, mai ales, nu sunt tepe (gen asigurari aditionale sau taxe ridicole pentru daune care nici nu se vad cu ochiul liber). La alte companii, lucrurile lasa mult de dorit -- Sixt in Berlin si Sixt in Bucuresti nu sunt aceeasi companie, nu va lasati influentati de brand pentru ca serviciul in Romania este cu totul altul. Autonom e putin mai scump decat restul pietei, dar se merita pe deplin. Asta sa nu mai vorbim de faptul ca au o flota predominant electrica, lucru genial daca nu aveti nevoie de masina pentru distante lungi.

Concluzia mea este ca fondatorul pe care l-am vazut vorbind acum 10 ani a reusit sa creeze o companie dupa chipul si asemanarea sa. Felicitari! Se poate si in Romania.

I've been renting from Autonom.ro in Oradea for at least 7 or 8 years now and never had a problem. The cars were always clean and well serviced. This year I hired a Range Rover Sport (probably 2019/2020 version) as I wanted to try driving an automatic again. A superb drive, lovely car, performance and handling wonderful. I was very impressed with it and with the service we got from the chaps in the Oradea city office. Delivered and recovered from my front door as well. (I live in the same town!)
My Romanian isn't great by any means but the wife is Romanian and all the chaps who deliver have good English. Enjoyed the 5 days we had it. Definitely recommend Autonom Oradea.

I recently rented a Mercedes GLA from Autonom Galati, and I couldn't be happier with the service. The rental process was smooth, and the car was reliable and in great condition. Alex has been very proactive, helpful and supportive throughout the rental period. He also went above and beyond and took me for a quick drive to get used to the car!

Service was first class, Employees could not do enough to help.

Easy to book in with the company even though my Romanian is limited.

The employees all had very good English making it an easy service to use.

Free shuttle bus from Bucharest airport to where the cars are kept and employees even helped with luggage.

The car was perfect for what we needed, we had a beautiful Mercedes suv that was in great condition, had lots of extra features and was good on fuel.

Will 100% use again and also recommend to anyone that will go to Romania to visit.

Good car in good condition. However, the brakes weren't in best of conditions. We get it repaired. But overall good experience in Bucharest.

We choose Autonom, as they advertise with cars maks 3 years old and a desk at the airport. We rented a car to pick up in Sibiu airport. There was no desk, but a guy with a few pappers. It took ud a while to finde him. The car we got had 147.000 km, the back wipers were wiping a meter behind the car. Everytime we started the engine we crossed fingers it will work, as the car didn’t start at once. The interior was very worn and smelly. Autonom does misleading marketing and the cars doesn’t meet the description.

I have booked the car in Budapest. I had to pick up the car at 10.00 but the time of arrival was changed to 11.30. I used the platform rental cars where I changed the arrival time. When I arrived to Budapest I called to Autonom but they refused my booking because the time was not changed and they cancelled my reservation and they didn't have another car. Finally they took whole amount for rent and did not want to refund it. I strongly recommend no to use this company.

i rented a vehicle from Autonom to tour Romania. The drop-off went very well but when I returned the car without incident and earlier, the clerk who picked it up pointed immediately to an almost invisible tiny crack on the black part of the windshield as if he already knew it was there. And although it hadn’t happened while it was in my possession, it is a simple and cheap fix to fill such a crack. Instead they refused to return the €150 deposit and also kept the €20 for the late return!
Such dishonesty gives Romania the poor reputation it has and such companies should not be encouraged by hiring cars from them. There are tons of reputable companies to choose from, so forget small local fly-by-night joints like Autonom.

Amazing company! Used them a couple of times, each time they were super professional and helpful. I rented from Tg-Mures airport and had a great experience. They were even able to accommodate some of my additional requests.

Very positive experience, from pick-up to return, including the staff that had to deal with a breakdown of the IT system (happens..)

I have rented two times from these guys. They have old cars with stained seats. Please avoid. Stick to international brands that will have a minimum standard for rentals, typically new cars with very few miles. One of the cars that I took from autonom.ro was a Clio Symbol with 150k km and a nearly burnt clutch.
