Loads of little issues directly from…

Loads of little issues directly from delivery, but being motor trade, I decided to sort things out myself rather than return the vehicle to the dealer. If they couldn’t do the pre delivery work right the first time, I doubted they would subsequently. Lights not working, bathroom sink leaking, edging strips on shelves not glued in place, grey waste tank guage not working, grey waste drain tap leaking, bathroom blind dropped to bits first time it was closed. I expected some issues with a British van but my wife wanted this particular layout which is not available on a German van!
I don’t so much mind having to sort things out myself, but when you ask the dealer for some technical information 3 times and they don’t get back to you, life becomes tedious. No problem, I’ll ring the manufacturer, Trigano at Grimsby …. Rang them 3 times now and they don’t care either!!
No problem, here we go, let’s just strip the bloody thing down and see what we can find……
By the way..,.170bhp Transit with auto box is brilliant to drive!! Wonder if I could persuade a German manufacturer to build this British style layout - no there’s a thought!

Ordered my expedition 68 October 2021 as of today 29/01/2023 still no confirmed delivery date little or no updates from dealer dolphin motorhomes Christchurch unless I chase even contacted auto-trail directly only to be redirected back to dealer for information “poor show auto-trail”

Great service from Clare and her guys

Ive just read the most recent reviews and am amazed, I got the total opposite experience from the repair center manager, Clare Osborne. We just bought a 2007 Auto-Trail Cheyenne, saw the re-furb scheme and thought would call in as was in the area. Warm welcome, very friendly, free parking with electric overnight if we wanted. Tweaked some door fittings for us, changed a couple of bulbs, great service in our case.

2 year old Autotrail Delawre

2 year old Autotrail Delawre. Gone in fir its 2nd Habitation Service. Found a faulty fuse in battery recharge circuit....its now been over 6 weeks and we are still waiting for Autotrail to provide a part so dealer can fix. This is ridiculous. We have also had other problems with this motorhome. Autotrail is supposed to be premium brand...OH NO ITS NOT. we spent over £80k on a motohone that falls apart and can't get parts for. AUTOTRAIL SHOULD BE ASHAMED. But, doubt they care. Got your money....thats all they seem to care about.

After looking at a number of new and used, then doing my homework reviewing other owners I decided not to purchase !
All I can say is do your homework and reviews speak volumes !!!!!

Poor quality auto-trail motorhome

I have recently approached auto - trail with a comprehensive list of faults encountered with our motorhome, which is now two years old. Upon collection the electric step switch fell off, the air con was faulty, the dinette seat fell on the floor, the strap on the seat when we went to pick it up fell off in our hand and the toilet wouldn't flush !! Many more problems since !!

I purchased a 2022 Chausson V697 built…

I purchased a 2022 Chausson V697 built by Auto-Trail and the build quality is absolutely cr*p. Head linning falling down, cupboard and draw catches not fitted properly so they fly open when driving. The drivers seat would not turn all the way around because the wires to the seat had been routed under the seat swivel and they had nearly been cut through instead of been routed through the centre of the swivel. Wires under the dash had been routed behind the clutch pedal so every time I pushed the clutch pedal down it caught the cables, eventually they would have broken. When I opened the cupboard under the oven a panel fell off, the screws had been stripped in the wood. Screw caps missing of some of the screws. The list goes on and I have only had it a few months. If I had had known that it was built by Auto-trail I would have never purchased it. Just been away for two weeks and on the way home the oven fell out. I am absolutely fed up with this campervan.

I can only endorse what previous people…

I can only endorse what previous people have written in respect of poor quality workmanship numerous visits to the dealer and one visit Auto trail workshop which has cost us significant time and expense. If you are looking for a Camper van then I can only say do your homework and check everything. Visit Face book of the van -ours is a v line and there is a Facebook group for such which has extremely useful advise so make a list and check. Generally everything was eventually corrected (all 40 items and still going) I will never buy from AT again.

update

update, my Auto-trail campervan went to dealers 3 days ago to stop the seat cushions falling onto floor when driving they say the fixed as a gesture of good will as Auto-trail told them it was not a fault they fixed 1 press stud onto 1 cushion on each side of van and have tried to tell me the seats can not and never could slide of as there is a non slip strip on the main cushion , funny but it was not there before van went to them and i have photos to prove that, the fault with the fridge vents coming loose Auto-trail told the dealer to look at this and surprise surprise all the had to do was add a little sealant the man who delivered the van back to me said the fitter who looked at it said i had been taking the vents off to roughly, this is a bit wiered as there is no reason whatsoever i would need or want to remove the vents, obviously what Auto-trail told them to find, the hole thing has been a compleat waste of my time. The only door open to me now is firstly send by post photos and details of all the faults i have had to all the directors in France and the UK and if i get no satisfaction from them i will have to take them to court as this van is not and never has been fit for purpose, I have asked for a new replacement van or even a discount in the price i paid but as anyone who has delt with them will know they say no way and they are the best

Never will we purchase from this very shoddy manufacturer again

We took delivery of a new Adventurer 65 last summer, as new to the world of motor-homing we were initially very pleased with our new camper however if I'm honest I was a little concerned with some of the build quality however not knowing much about the industry I accepted latches and things falling off however...

During the Jubilee weekend we were having a nice family meal (three of us) when the table collapsed striking our ten year old on the leg and spilling food and drink all over a carpet...

I wrote to auto-trail advising them that the table has been under engineered and dangerous, they advised me to take it to the dealer...

I have now received a message refusing a warrantee claim as they say it is not a manufacturing fault...

How can it not be a manufacturing fault, the table is held by a horizontal pole with for 5mm screws into laminated chip board (table top end) and two 5mm screws base end, clearly Auto-Trail do not consult competent engineers at design stage which is worrying as the table may well of injured a ten year old child due to Auto-Trails poor manufacturing standards/tolerances and sub standard out date warrantee (so called warrantee)...

Unfortunately I am now going to have to seek redress vie legal action within the small claims court. This is not the sort of adventure we had in mind when we ordered our Adventurer!

Following on from my previous review my 2021Autotrail v-lineSport 610 still has continuous poor build quality faults After nearly a year and numerous visits to Brownhills it was found a trapped ignition wire under the cooker was causing the 10amp water pump fuse to blow haphazardly ( same electrical circuit )
Also the canvas storage attached to the inside of the large boot lid has not been fitted correctly at build, the right hand side was not attached as it was approx attached 10mm too high and the attachment screws were missing the GRP panel.
Autotrail have offered me a factory repair!! I have to take it to Autotrail (300 miles) They will take 4 to 6 weeks to do the repair, and then I have to collect it. This as a result of incompetent fitting by Autotrail and I have to pay all costs involved to get the camper to them and collect as well as not having its use for 4-6 weeks. Autotrail will pay no costs or compensation for their shoddy work.

Poor build quality from Autotrail

In October 2020 we bought a new Autotrail V-line 635 Sport. It's proved to be the gift that keeps on giving, and not in a good way. The most serious problems caused by the poor build quality have been the rooflight that leaked because it hadn't been installed properly - we woke up in the Lake District with water dripping on to our heads and the bed, forcing us to use an upturned umbrella to catch the litre of water that came in over a 24-hour period. Then we have the two decorative plastic window panels installed on the sides of the van that have now detached themselves where the adhesive has failed. If we hadn't spotted this and used Duck tape to hold them in place they could easily flown off into the path of another vehicle while we were driving and caused a serious accident (putting us in trouble with the Police, and with our Insurers). The material on the underside of the lounge cushions is so fragile that it has failed after less than 60 nights making up the bed. Then we have the plethora of little things that have gone wrong: the boot that wouldn't open; the rusty brackets on the kitchen unit extension table; the LED strip lights in the rear lounge that have failed twice; the catches on the cupboards that won't secure properly despite being adjusted; the little veneer circles over screw heads that keep peeling off; the flimsy plastic fittings on the hob that have broken; the waste pipe valve that leaked. We bought British for a reason, to support our own industries; how wrong we were. If we’d spend nearly £60K on a car it would probably have been perfect. The dealers have been brilliant throughout, but every time it goes back to them to be fixed it costs us time and money (for fuel) and denies us the use of the van. Please think twice before you buy one of these!

We have a £90,000+ lump of Autotrail junk.

We have a £90,000+ lump of Autotrail junk sitting on our drive we can't use because the "island bed" collapses when you try and sleep in it. Autotrail have acknowledged there is a problem but so far we have been waiting over 3 months to get a replacement mattress. The dealer is trying their best to help but I think they are just being fobbed off and Autotrail simply don't give a dam about anything one could call customer care. We have already had to cancel trips we had planned. I am now considering taking legal action…..and rejecting the goods as Not Fit For Purpose.

Further review of our brand new Auto Trail V Line Sport. Following my first review where we…

Following my first review where we pointed out the obtrusive pipe work and wiring which we had to box in and cover up ourselves we are now on our first trip out with our brand new Auto Trail V Line Sport
It’s cosy and warm. The boot packs up very well.
However we have found even more infuriating things which you wouldn’t expect to find on a quality conversion
A long cushion above the bench does not sit properly which protrudes and is very uncomfortable. It needs removing and repositioning
The sink leaked into the cupboard due to a slack jubilee clip. It also drains very very slowly because of the routing of the pipe work.
The Grey water tap leaks constantly
The water gauges don’t work.
The fibre glass around the boot lid handle is showing signs of cracking.
To say the van had a PDI before leaving Auto trail and another at the dealers why were these missed. The quality of the finished product is so disappointing when you consider the price.
One design fault and something to be aware of is the hand basin in the loo. It’s impossible to clean the drain trough or recover any items which fall into it as the basin cannot be removed from its pivot.
All though these things will be resolved it may require several trips back to the dealers.
What a shame.

Warranty Auto-Trail 2019 Tribute T726…

I have the Auto-Trail 2019 Tribute T726 and recently had a part of the overcab bed fail.
It was due to poor design and manufacture.
I was using the van at the time and took photos of the failure.
I made a repair to the frame and contacted Customer service about the warranty issue.
They point blank refused this and said I should have used an authorised workshop to assess this.
I would have lost use of the bed and/ or van for weeks.
Now Auto-Trail refuse to discuss or accept the photos even to help themselves with future issues.
BASICALLY YOUR WARRANTY ISN'T WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITTEN ON

The Extraordinary Auto Trail VR Ltd

I am now an Italian resident. As such I need to import my FIAT based Auto Trail Tracker motor home from the UK. For registration the Italian authorities require some additional technical data from Auto Trail VR Ltd.

Although some of the required data will necessarily come from FIAT, the Italian authorities are clear that the completed dataset must ultimately come from Auto Trail VR Ltd as the last stage manufacturer. Some months ago Auto Trail produced some very basic data which the Italian authorities dismissed as completely inadequate.

With regard to FIAT, FIAT UK state that as the vehicle is a direct import from Italy they do not hold any data for the vehicle. And in any case, Auto Trail VR Ltd will already have this data as they will have specified the vehicle when ordered.

Apparently the Auto Trail VR Ltd Customer Services Manager has been trying to obtain the missing data. Without it my motorhome is stranded on a campsite in Italy or would have to be shipped back to the UK and re-imported which is beyond me financially. The Customer Services Manager is aware of this.

However he has now emailed to the effect that he is unable to obtain the required data and is therefore not able to assist any further. And who has he been liaising with? …..…..FIAT UK – who stated some months ago that they don’t have any data for the vehicle. Extraordinary.

Brought brand new auto trail f60 in…

Brought brand new auto trail f60 in April this year. Had minor teething problems reported them to auto trail. As of today 2/8/21 still problems not been fixed waiting on parts from auto trail very poor customer services auto trail don’t give a dam they’ve got my £54000

Massive disappointment

The biggest disappointment I’ve ever experienced, fault after fault after fault and now 2nd service reveals damp I badly regret buying it new in 2019
I have lost all confidence in Autotrail
And will NEVER buy another ,quality controll is none existent
Bad experience of my first new motorhome I feel I have been cheated

Incompetent Wiring Practices

I've recently taken ownership of an Autotrail V-Line camper van. My background is 40 years Electrical Engineering including Electrical competence essessments. I'm a member of a V-Line Facebook group where I posted photographs of terrible wiring practices in my van showing poor spade terminal joints and bare uninsulated conductors. I was shocked at the replies to my post showing how common this poor and unsafe wiring practice is which raises questions over Autotrails Electrical competence and whether they should be permitted to continue wiring motorhomes and camper vans until they achieve an acceptable safe standard...
