All fires arrive in containers from china.
Unloaded into a warehouse at bede industrial estate.

Shipped on to distribution outlets such as B&Q

Avoid at all cost !!!

Be prepared to be frustrated putting this together

Bought a iQFX from local fire place centre. I assumed if buying an electric fire you unpack it and plug it in. How wrong could I be. The so called assembly instructions are available by QR codes leading to the smallest and most unhelpful YouTube video ever. Tried their helpline 21st January and still waiting for a call back!!(31st January). Ended up taking it back to where we bought it who helped explain putting it together. Thank heavens I didn’t buy it online. It’s a shame as very pleased with the fire.

Poor quality products. Electric stove fires

Our Canterbury Electric Stove, which cost nearly £1,000, has completely failed just over two years after purchase. It has no power at all.

Given the price, I would have expected a significantly longer lifespan. The retailer has since gone out of business, and the manufacturer’s only response was to offer a chargeable engineer visit, with no goodwill gesture whatsoever.

As a result of this experience, I cannot recommend BeModern Fires or their customer service.

This is a company to avoid at all…

This is a company to avoid at all costs.
I bought an artificial logburner, fitted and tested in new home in July.
Seemed fine then, just tried using properly now, January 26, as weather freezing.
Appliance faulty... making terrible noises. Found paperwork and receipt, called them very politely to ask for help, put through to customer services, call abruptly 'ended' 4 times???
I could hear another complaint being made in the background, and had to wait in long call queues as they were inundated with calls.
Lots of dissatisfied customers???
Eventually spoke to
'Hazel Co*k' in customer services.
Turns out I had misplaced half my paperwork, and only have a record of the delivery of fire surround.
The fire itself had been delivered by B and Q, which seems to be a convenient loophole...as I was not advised that if it is not delivered by Be Modern, and I cant produce written proof then its not covered by any guarantee.
Hazel Co*k took great pleasure telling me this...when I asked what their advice would be for me as I spent a lot of money with them, she smugly laughed at me and said that she could do nothing at all.
No customer service, no company pride, no humanity.
Unfeeling, unpleasant and unkind.
Extremely disappointing.
Product not fit for purpose.
I can only say that Hazel Co*k lives up to her name.
The fire will go to the dump and I will order a superior product from a superior company, who care to provide good products and care enough to cultivate customer satisfaction.

Can’t comment on product ordered…

Can’t comment on product ordered through B&Q Washington,as I’ve not received it yet.
Was informed on purchase and receipt company would contact me 72 hrs prior delivery, this never happened.
They tried to deliver 10/12/25 and as nobody lives at property they were unsuccessful. After contact earliest delivery now 5/1/26, unacceptable

Electric fire

Purchased an electric fire through B&Q but within a month the LED flame light blew. Contacted customer services and without any quibble arranged for an immediate replacement. Obviously not ideal that the fire became defective so early but it’s otherwise an excellent product

Avoid this company

Avoid this company. I’m shocked by both the poor quality of the product I received and the complete lack of accountability or customer service.

I ordered a bathroom worktop that was meant to be a key design feature in my new bathroom — instead, I received something that looks damaged, scratched, and as if it had been stored with heavy items stacked on top. It looks nothing like the showroom model I was shown. I raised these issues immediately, sent multiple photos and emails, and was told it was simply “rustic.” That’s an insult to my intelligence — it’s clearly defective.

Worse still, their management has flat-out refused to offer a replacement or even an alternative. Their excuse? That the order was placed two months ago. Apparently, delivering a faulty product is fine if they delay long enough to wash their hands of it.

To top it off, they seemed more concerned about me contacting them directly than actually addressing the problem. I may have ordered through a bathroom shop, but I’m the end customer — and I’ve been left stuck with an expensive mistake I now have to see every single day.

They’ve ignored all follow-up emails and shown zero willingness to put things right. I strongly urge anyone considering buying from this company to look elsewhere — the product failed to deliver, and the service has been even worse.

BeModern 19364_BK Electric Fire

We bought a BeModern 19364_BK Electric Fire in Black (AOL219070486 – 01219070486A) in November 2024.
MAJOR HAZARD: The exposed glass front of area 0.096 sqm is made of very thin standard non-safety glass, less than 3mm thick. It is not safety glass and exceeds 0.060 sqm and can thus cause serious injury when impacted due to lethal sharp shards of very thin brittle glass.

Flawed goods that pass Quality Control

Bought a white marble fireplace surround from this Company via B&Q.
Removed packaging and inspected it for chips and scratches. All seemed good and got Fitter in to do the job.
When partner was removing the remnants of the adhesive that secured the packaging on lo and behold theres a significant black mark (and a few others) right under where one of the adhesive dobs were ! Coincidence or what ?! Hhmmmm...
Now ,we werent expecting perfection . It is stone after all.
We are not unreasonable people; so if it had been to the side or near the bottom we wouldnt be bothered.
But the most noticeable mark is practically top dead centre facing out the way. It really could not have been in a worse place.
Its like a black felt tip pen mark on, as Ive said , white marble.
Very noticeable.

Bemodern's assertion (after several unreturned phone calls) that it was in the stone and any subsequent replacement might have similar marks only cuts it so far. They said the marks were deemed as "acceptable". Well , I would say that a stand out black mark in white marble in that particular position would make it totally unsuitable for a white fire surround.
They said I would not get a refund . I never asked for one ! We did hope that some sort of repair would be possible.
Bemodern , similar to other customer reviews I have seen, washed their hands of the matter.
Poor customer service with extremely poor Quality Control.
