Overall, the features established for Onitama are great but the interface lacks elegance when compared to the old App. Premium are inexpensive and worth and moderators are quick and fair, overall speaking. Recommended.

I'm telling on myself here. I like board games. I have for years. When others in my family don't feel like playing (like when they are asleep at crazy early hours like ... midnight -scoff-) I still want to play a little Catan, or Carcassone, or Splendor. You feel me. I know you do.

I was incredulous that one site could offer really excellent experiences in myriad digitized board games. I was happily proven wrong and signed up for the paid membership. I find games quite easily, haven't felt that any player can "tech-cheat", and am completely able to choose to mildly engage (eg, "good move" or "I have none") or not engage at all.

Never bothered by moderators because I'm not online to critique or teach, just to play.

Seriously, a great site with a great selection of excellent games (did I mention 7 Wonders, Bang, Sushi Go ...)

I would have said this is a great site BUT the people that control this game arena have gone overboard with control and moderating people. i recently played the card game hearts and 2 players ducked when they should have covered, leaving me to cover and cop the queen of spades. i wrote in comments (*see attached) and got moderated (told off). i appealed but 2 days on no news. i said nothing wrong. i cannot add image of conversation. in comments. i cannot contact support until the appeal is dealt with. 2 days and no reply. you don't have to be einstein to see i did nothing wrong. hearts is a team game as well. the other players were selfish and it should be fine for me to say i will not have your back if you do not have mine. btw, i think the complainant came last.

day 3 after appeal and not a word back. plus, it is accept our moderation or suffer. and if you appeal is not good enough we can up the penalty. they are bullies themselves pretending to moderate bullies.

BGA is an excellent platform to play boardgames. I am not a boardgamer myself, I was only there to play Onitama. But BGA has a clean interface, many nice features like tournaments and a competitive Arena, replay features, etc. In that sense, it's a big improvement compared to the old Onitama app. The only major downside, in Onitama's case at least, is that it is a premium game, so having a premium account is recommended to be able to find games more easily. But I gladly payed the premium fee when I subscribed, because I expected BGA to be THE platform to play Onitama on, especially since the old app was closed.

However, here comes the bad part: Onitama's community is currently being destroyed by a toxic cheater and aggressive bully, Sussuarana Onitama. I have reported this account many times, both in the BGA's reporting tool (8 times) and via direct contact with the moderation team via email.

The moderation team was absolutely useless: they don't do anything meaningful, they always replied in evasive and lazy ways, they are truly incompetent beyond belief:
1) At some points they asked for more examples, but after receiving 20 new examples they complained that the reports are too long.
2) They dismiss clear cheating as "stupidity" from the opponent (to quote the words of BGA's CEO, Gregory Isabelly, verbatim!)
3) They dismissed all the data and examples I presented because I have a "personal problem" with Sussuarana -- according to them, that invalidates all the print screens I sent with clear instances of cheating.
4) The only moment when they take immediate action is when someone exposes their incompetence publicly: they silenced and banned a player for "offending the moderators", when all he did was literally challenge their lenient attitude towards cheaters.
5) Etc.

To summarize: lazy, incompetent, dictatorial, dumb, useless moderation -- and this includes their CEO. If your community is healthy, then it is a great platform, but the moment your community gets taken over by a toxic player and/or a cheater, you can forget it -- the mods will do absolutely nothing to make it right.

They won't be getting my money or my time ever again, and I recommend that you too steer clear from it!!!

The worst moderators I have ever seen. They destroy my Karma because of a player who used two profiles to win easily. You are without honor, I will never pay your premium subscription again and I will advise all my friends against you. Your policy is ridiculous, disregards what happened and fails to understand the use of irony. Shame on you.

Board Game Arena bans you when you are the one getting bullied. Simply because you are reporting them, yet they don't use the "banned" words. Other users are allowed to question your intelligence, to mock and laugh at you, to manipulate you, all as long as they don't outright use negative words to demean you. Board Game Arena is highly toxic and there are more bullies than good people. The moderators allow the instigator free rein so long as "negative" words are not used, and it really is about the negative connotation of specific words. They couldn't care less about the bullying that occurs when people don't use the words with negative connotation. They also will penalize you if you dispute a moderation, so you can only accept their penalties.

The site is not well maintained, in that you frequently need to use the refresh button, so that you know when to play.

The reward system, and the skill level system also is terrible, particularly for cooperative games. People abandon when a perfect score is no longer obtainable, so their elo never drops, which is widely regarded as someone's skill level in any particular game. Thus, you really don't know what the skills and knowledge of any particular user is, since it's accepted and expected to abandon any game where a perfect score is no longer available.

Karma (supposedly how often you quit games, but also if you get moderated, your Karma also is taken away by 50/100. With the above mentioned problems of being unfairly moderated, it also makes Karma unreliable. Bullies are skilled at using demeaning, cruel language that bypasses the moderation team's decisions to silence people.

This all contributes to painful experiences and an unfriendly atmosphere for new and experienced gamers alike. It's the perfect atmosphere for cyberbullying, and very friendly towards those types of people.

The Good:

Some really good games are free. And that's amazing!!!

The Bad:
the reward system is awkward...

Also a few bugs.. sometimes, but you learn to live with the refresh page button.

And The Ugly:
The whole platform is a little outdated but that's kind of fair because I don't think they get much money to have a fully updated site.

Site proposant un certain nombre de jeux en ligne mais aux algorithmes qui n'avantagent que certains joueurs (ceux qui paient notamment). Pour les autres, jamais de jeu au tarot par exemple et impossible de progresser. Site à fuire : perte de temps : il faut mieux jouer dans la réalité )

The concept is good, but 'community' is not. Playing board games online should be fun. Unfortunately the site has been set up to manipulate players in to paying for the service, and chase after trophies and high scores. The score system is easily and obviously manipulated by some members to achieve inflated scores. The site is owned by Asmodee, so any comment they deem even mildly critical will get you banned. Point out their poor customer service...ban. Simple as that.

Easy to use, fun site

Algorithme foireux qui ne laisse pas de place à la stratégie ou même au jeu. Pénible et lassant.

Beaucoup trop de limitations. Par exemple, impossible de faire plus de 3 tables de jeu. Ou la plupart des jeux ne sont accessibles qu'en payant. En plus, complexe à utiliser. Comme dit quelqu'un, on passe beaucoup plus de temps à attendre qu'à jouer. Dommage, l'idée était bonne, mais, finalement aucun intérêt

les gros scores sont avantagés lors de la distribution des cartes, de ce fait beaucoup de mal pour progresser j'y joue de moins en moins

Un site proposant pas mal de jeux mais quand on fait du tour par tour, pas mal de joueur dés le début de partie ne joue pas et attendent un maximum de temps pour faire une action. On passe plus de temps à attendre qu'à jouer au final sur ce site. A éviter.

Carino, ma la moderazione è scarsa.
La modalità arena è piena di cheater che non vengono allontanati, e giocare in tempo reale è un terno al lotto.
Da quando hanno aumentato il prezzo dell'abbonamento poi hanno smesso di avvertire quando ti scalano i soldi, così se dimentichi di cancellare in tempo ti attacchi.

Modère à tout va juste pour un mot de travers sur une discussion (pas d'insulte pour un autre joueur).
On peut pas contester car ils nous mettent encore plus de pénalités. Et en plus ils augmentés les prix comme ça de 7€ pour l'abonnement annuel.
Je voulais prendre un abonnement premium, ben pour le coup ils peuvent aller se faire voir !!!

Site intéressant mais cette politique du correctement parfait me déplaît puisque pas le droit de se défendre. Sanction immédiate par les régulateurs . En conclusion méfiance ce site n'est pas impartiale.
