Unacceptable £760 unauthorized Direct Debit - shocking lack of verification!
I was in absolute shock when I opened my banking app to find that Camden Council had taken £760 out of my bank account. I do not live in the Borough of Camden, nor do I have any connection to this council whatsoever.
This was a completely unauthorized Direct Debit. Camden Council obviously did not do their due diligence to verify that the person setting up the payment actually owned the bank account they were charging. This major security and administrative failure allowed £760 of my money to be taken without warning, throwing my account into stress.
While my bank fortunately refunded the money immediately under the Direct Debit Guarantee, Camden Council has shown zero financial safeguards. It is deeply worrying that a public council can just pull hundreds of pounds from a non-resident's account without any identity checks. If you are Camden Council, you need to urgently review your Direct Debit setup procedures before you pull money from other innocent people's accounts. Dan

Imagine getting a parking fine and the parking warden lied that your not in the car but takes a picture of you in the car then. You dispute the ticket for person lying among other things and they say the warden says you was not in the car and we believe them and out of the 8 pictures taken they use 3 where you can’t see who’s in the car but there’s clearly one with you in the car on the system These people are just fools plain and simple imagine being paid to lie and your manager will uphold the lie and google what you should do if they lie and the will get around it shows you the level the whole office is being paid to lie I can unshaken what the residents go thro dealing with these lot day to day

Only to be told she doesn’t come to the office Tuesdays
. I felt sick all the effort I had put in for nothing guys. The receptionist was very kind helped me. In the end she managed to interview me virtually. To add insult to injury my application was unsuccessful. I get anxiety’s thinking of making a new application for a kiosk.
Camden Council’s council tax online payment page will put you into arrears.
Camden Council’s online council tax payment page has changed since April, and honestly, it’s a nightmare to use.
It’s so unclear it feels like you need an IT qualification just to make a normal monthly payment.
Right now, it basically feels like it’s set up to trip people up who are just trying to pay what they owe.
Here’s what went wrong for me:
• It doesn’t clearly show what you’re meant to pay this month, so you end up digging around for your bill/statement.
• After you put the details in, it throws up the total balance with no obvious “monthly payment” option — it genuinely looks like you could accidentally pay the whole lot in one go.
• There’s no clear on-screen receipt or reference. You hit pay and it dumps you back at the login page, so you’re left thinking: “Did that actually work?”
• To double-check, you basically must either hope the email receipt shows up or ring the council tax office and ask them to confirm it.
I contacted the council tax staff, they were polite, but it didn’t sound like they’d been given clear instructions on the new payment page — they kept having to check with accounts.
Also: why weren’t residents properly warned about the change? The page is so vague that, if you didn’t know better, it could easily look dodgy.
If this doesn’t get fixed quickly, I can see the council tax phone lines being absolutely swamped.
Please sort the payment page out: show the monthly amount clearly, make it obvious you’re paying the monthly instalment (not the full balance), and give an on-screen receipt/reference after you pay.

I got a letter 3 weeks ago to say I had overpaid my council tax do I followed the instructions to request a refund as directed and I got a message to say I would receive payment within 10 working days and nothing yet so u called this morning and now told it will be at least another 3 weeks! Terrible organisation but if I owed them money they woul be sending letters threatening court action by now. They think they are not accountable and so I beg you all to vote anything byt Labour in the upcoming elections.
Camden Adult Community Learning - Hostile learning environment, poor accountability
A very poor and unsettling experience. The classroom environment felt discriminatory and, at times, bullying in tone, which made it difficult to participate safely.
The complaint process that followed was slow, defensive, and ultimately dismissive, which only reinforced the original concerns.
This demonstrated a deeper issue with both professionalism in teaching and how learner feedback is handled.

Was totally shocked today when Camden sent contractors out to sort out damp and mould issues there do it right first time must be a joke walls are so wet from water coming in externally wash the areas down with mould down and painted straight over wall already starting to bubble if that's how Camden sorts out damp and mould issues now I am baffled contractors where her no more than 30 minutes have the standards in building game drop so much where you paint over wet walls not sorting the issues out first mind-blowing if I had attached photos you would have been shocked where you paint over damp now to hide the issue
Bad hitting repair !
Very bad terrible call centre , useless repair department and repair raapair system and contractors isles with all repairs but 1 week behind rent …. They call you straight away to pay !!!

This council's management is appalling
This council's management is appalling, compounded by unhelpful staff. They neglect to send out council tax notifications, yet impose hefty fines. Contacting them is a nightmare, with phone wait times stretching over an hour. Despite settling our dues, they stubbornly uphold the penalties. An employee, Tracy, displayed shocking hostility, even resorting to insults. Such behavior is unprecedented. Meanwhile, our tax contributions soar, the roads remain unclean, and there's a yearly hike in rates. It's a shameful lack of accountability and respect for the community.
Dishonest
So still after 26 years dealing with same repair issues not sorted . the complaints process never works as they dont even look at correct info but stress you out with fob off. As for Rents team literally Vile. never experienced such aggresive dishonest people. Facts are changed to hide thoer mistakes , miscalculations , they employ bullies who Lie and Gaslight you until you dont even know whats going on. I had a clear query that has been dumped somewhere in the circumlocution office and will never be sorted because that would mena they have to admit mistake. they clearky employ aggressive people who are prepared to bully and gaslight vunerable tenants. there is a clear problem in the recruitment team. the calibre of staff is appalling either disinterest or sadistic promotion seekers. Zero interest in People, tenants. the wrong people doing the wrong thing. same problems 26 years in and zero help. asked to be helped to move , nothing. asked for help and get bullied. Never move to Camden or try to get a reasonable answer .SCAMDEN .

Toxic, corrupted and racist housing management, no mental health services in south camden. Corrupted children services, and the ex camden leader is now education minster, leading ofstead..ofcourse they will get outstanding services and outstanding schools!
Scamming leaseholders, cliquey staff and management. Most employers have no qualifications including complaints department.
This LA needs to be demolished, we pay the highest council tax in the country and get treated like animals!
Over 18 months wait for new front door
My mum has waited over 18 months for new front door. This door was measured and the door style chosen in August 2024, but she is still waiting. The company that was approved by the council said a new door frame was needed as the old door had been cut and rehung about 20 times. There is gaps at the bottom and top of the door which let the draught and insects in. The makes the door not fire safe.

Terrible Handling of Dead Seagull in Communal Area
I've been repeatedly requesting the removal of a dead seagull directly outside my window in a communal area that I cannot access. Housing Manager Rose advised me to contact the RSPCA—but they confirmed they do not handle removal of deceased animals, only welfare.
This morning I contacted Camden Council, since it’s council-owned property. They said it's not their responsibility. So who is responsible? I feel bounced around like a tennis ball—no one is resolving this.
I haven’t dared open my window for the past three days because my child has severe asthma. I've wasted so much energy making phone calls (often waiting nearly an hour on hold) and sending emails that go unanswered.
Is it too much to expect that a dead bird be removed promptly? Communal areas shouldn't become my problem. I’m fed up with residents dumping food waste, nappies, bottles, even a bottle filled with urine. I reported this to ARCH and nothing changed.
You're jeopardizing our health. If any harm comes to us, Camden Council and ARCH will be responsible.

Allow contractors like MBSLondonLtd into your home to destroy your property and leave you with thousands in damages you can't afford, Being cowards, say not their fault but fault of MBS knowing you have no money to take them to court either. Scratch each other's back. Camden gets a cheap contractor. Contractor gets cheap labour, destroy your property and no-one will take any responsibility or accountability. If I put what I really think my review would be taken down.
