Not all smooth sailing, but looking good

What a great product! Now my other half is not the best when it comes to technology and she sometimes buys things on a whim. When the cocoon came through the door, I thought "Hear we go, another wasted purchase".

Having never heard of Cocoon, I was getting ready to send the thing back to Amazon when I thought I'd do a little research just to see what it was all about.

Read the reviews and had to admit, I was wrong. It sounded great! After a painful hour of abusive "I told you so", and once the children were in bed I went about setting the thing up.

Now the trouble started :( - Downloaded the App and went through the setup with the other half's iPhone. No joy. Downloaded to my android, and the same result. Ok, new tech - let's work through the trouble shooting guide.

Went through both the basic and advanced guides, right down to resetting the router (yes - I was determined to rule out everything), but no joy.

That's it - packed it up ready to go back in the morning.

The following morning, "I must be able to get this to work!" - all the reviews say how simple it is. Nope - still no joy, e-mail to Cocoon Support (must cancel the call) and one more go of the Troubleshooting guides.

This time in the router a new message has popped up, saying there's a firmware update. "Security Bug fixes" - hmm, really!

Updated router, and started the setup process again. Not 100% issue free, the location services took an age to take, but then it's a cloudy day.

But all working :) and it looks good so far. Just have to stop the missus from manually arming the device when I'm working from home!!!

The start up was easy

The start up was easy , so different from most electronic systems, in my experience. It kept informing me whilst abroad. It looks good too!

No replacement for an actual alarm

Well designed product & good view but meant for appartments, not houses. Subsound missed many instances, and even with 3G the was hard to connect to. Besides, an intruder can simply unplug the Cocoon with no siren going off, so it's more a gadget than a serious alarm product.

Thank you for taking the time to feed this back to the team, and we're sorry that you've come to these conclusions.

We designed Cocoon specifically to be able to adapt to a number of home types, and we have many customers using Cocoon to great effect in flats, apartments, houses, garages and offices all around the world.

We are able to do this by using our smart machine learning algorithms which allow Cocoon to acclimatise to the vast array of setup locations.

Cocoon is constantly learning, so changes in your home's Subsound fingerprint, if you have regular visitors who are not part of your Cocoon's household, can result in your Cocoon raising its "worry" level to accommodate this. If you contact our support team, or check out our help centre there are tips on how to ensure you are allowing your Cocoon to learn correctly.

For Cocoon to work correctly you need strong and stable upload speeds on your home Wifi network, and good data connectivity on your smartphone to ensure video streaming can take place. We've got some helpful advice on our website should you need any pointers in this regard.

An intruder can indeed unplug a Cocoon (should they locate it) whilst in a home. Unfortunately for them, all the footage up to that unplugging would have already been sent safely to our secure cloud services, allowing a Cocoon owner to alert the authorities, or provide that all important video evidence for assisting with any investigation.

Cocoon is very much a serious home security product, conceived to provide everyone with the opportunity to keep their home and loved ones safe. Retailing at £159, with a free 7 day timeline, and using our patented Subsound technology, we believe Cocoon is the future of smart home security.

Great

Lovely device. Good for security and also fun when our house bunny triggers the activity alert, but has confirmed to us what a lazy little thing he is. Girlfriend likes to trigger the alarm when I am on the sofa, not good, but I cannot blame cocoon for that!

I would like to see the option for buying additional cameras for wider coverage of the house. Ideally a cheaper add on which sync with the cocoon we have.

That's great to hear Robert. We're animal lovers here at Cocoon and wanted to make sure we could keep our homes safe and secure, without upsetting our furry friends. You're not alone in being pranked with the siren, so we're looking at what we can do to make that a bit smarter... Our top priority is rolling out Multi-Cocoon functionality, which we're hoping will be out very soon. Cocoon works, super easy to configure.

Cocoon works. If You have no other security solution or you want to add a camera to your existing solution then this might be the solution for you. I'm still working out how ultimately useful it actually is and I've had to turn off the app access to my location as I gelt that it was draining my battery (I'm very sensitive to new apps and my usage of the phone in this regard).

I've nothing bad to say about the device - set-up was super easy and video quality is good enough. I've had a couple of alerts - that were false - but that's not a surprise - I figure that it will be very rare for there to be an actual correct alarm.

You get three video downloads - I've not been told what happens if you use these up.

I would like to see some additional features - like video and voice calling - that might be fun to do..

Excellent security and camera device

Excellent device which operates as described. It will be interesting to see how it 'learns' from the normal activities and sounds in our home. Installation is also extremely easy and straightforward. So far so good!

There are some glitches at times when Cocoon says we left the home at a very different time to when we actually do, or doesn't recognise that we are home. Hope this will improve.

Peace of Mind and much more ...

I am really enjoying my Cocoon experience. It is solid and looks and feels great!
The Customer Service team are brilliant. I needed to contact them to help me set up as although I followed the Instructions I was not sure if it was compatible with the wifi In my household. Extremely quick responses by email walking me through it (only because I am the least 'techie'' person you will ever meet. If my 17 year old son was around I'm sure he'd
Have managed to set it up no problem).
When I leave the house it goes active automatically and I can have a peek
Anytime I like to see my dog snoozing on the settee, even when I am miles
Away. I have been alerted a couple of times to see my son arriving home as
he has not set his own Mobile up with it yet. It is still in learning mode but 'so far so brilliant!!'
I won't bore you with any more except to say
I LOVE ❤️ IT!

Fantastic little device

Fantastic little device, really pleased with it. It's in it's first 'learning mode' day today, armed while we're out and so far it hasn't notified me of anything untoward which is great.

I have but two suggestions, an option to have a 'guest mode' for if someone's looking after the house it won't alert you when they enter but the guest can't watch a live feed, as that would be like having a spy..

And an option to login on web browser (PC) in order to ensure everything is okay and to clear alerts for those moments you can't be on your phone!

I will continue to recommend Cocoon as I believe value for money and functionality are second to none, I feel assured that my house is secure whilst it's keeping a watchful eye. :)

I would like to have the option to add …

I would like to have the option to add visitors to Cocoon. I have a disability and have people who help me that come in daily, I don't want to add them as part of my household or give them access to Cocoon but I don't want Cocoon to be triggered when they are here either but would like the log for arming / disarming.

Also there is a long delay from when someone enters to when I can view it on my phone and as the video is HD maybe this is what is causing the delay. Maybe an option for a lower quality video would be helpful for people with older phones or slower wifi.

Over all happy with Cocoon, like the design and how small and easy to use it is.

Cocoon works great

Cocoon works great! Detects sounds and movements throughout my entire house and sends alert to my iPhone. Cocoon just works, which is exactly what you want from a security system. It is much more then just a camera.

Great support team and clever device.

Great support team. Needed some guidance in connecting to 2.4GHz (device defaulted to 5.0 GHz) and got immediate assistance. Had the device up and running in a matter of minutes.
And am amazed by the clever subsound technology. Still early days but impressive so far.

Nice product

The product is good-looking and small.
The software have some room for improvement but is already decent.

I can't fault Cocoon really.

I can't fault Cocoon really. they responded quickly, offered clear instructions and demonstrated sound appreciation and understanding of my issue. The whole matter was resolved quickly and the system is now fully restored to its optimum status providing continuous safe monitoring. Thanks.

It's still early days, we only set our system live 3 days ago and it's still in learning mode. However, the installation process was very straight forward.
