Horrible experience!

Horrible experience!! Zero stars. We used Coleman Moving for a move from Texas to West Virginia that included packing and storage, and unfortunately our experience has been extremely frustrating.

During packing, the crew repeatedly emphasized how carefully they followed their inventory system. We were told everything would be labeled with green stickers, tracked through the inventory, packed together, stored together, and checked again when loading and unloading the truck.

Despite all of those assurances, they somehow missed an entire storage vault of our belongings when loading the truck to West Virginia. We’re now nearly two weeks after delivery and are still missing roughly half a truckload of our items, including large pieces like our kitchen table. If their inventory system can miss that much property, it raises serious questions about how effective it actually is.

It took them quite a while to finally “locate” our belongings in the storage vault, but even now we’re still waiting to hear when they’ll actually get our things on a truck and delivered to us. As of this writing, we still have not received our missing items or any update on when they will be shipped.

Overall, the experience has been stressful and disappointing. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Coleman Moving.

Update! The 2nd delivery came and we are STIlL missing things like patio furniture and a large / heavy kitchen table. How do you misplace a kitchen table?

Moving is already stressful and if you hire Coleman it is guaranteed to make it 10x more stressful more stress. You’ve been warned. Now I'm stuck waiting months on a claim you just know they'll find some reason to deny...

I used them to move from Jacksonville…

I used them to move from Jacksonville FL to Ocala FL. Including packing. Some family jewelry is nowhere to be found. Not saying they took it, but.... They packed everything and disassembled furniture. They damaged my dinning room table, office desk, chandelier, and dented the dryer. Everything was unloaded to a storage unit. They refused to allow me to examine anything and put everything in storage wrapped in their moving blankets.

When everything was removed from storage a few months later the damage that they covered up was discovered. They paid to repair the dining room table because the driver lied and said it was delivered to the rental house and not the storage. Everything was delivered to storage and photos show the damage discovery in the storage unit. They refused to pay for the rest of the damage

Horrific moving experience

I am very familiar with cross-country moves, so I paid more for what I thought would be a premium experience this time. Unfortunately, Allied was an unbelievably horrible experience from the beginning to the end, and I would not wish this upon my worst enemy. They claim to be all one company, but it was clear that every stage was a different entity with no context or continuity. They are just as bad as a broker. As soon as they sold us on the quote, the sales people were non-existent, and we could not get a hold of anyone. Everyone's email response was that they were out of office, and the customer service phone line just redirected, until we ultimately gave up and hoped that they would show up on time. We paid so much money for them to pack and unload our stuff, and they were surprised both that they had to pack and unload (both sets of movers, in WA & IL). A small two bedroom apartment took them 12 hours to pack up, and we were late to get on the road for the move. They took breaks all of the time, never apologized, and never hurried. Customer service forgot that we had our stuff in storage, and were surprised when we called to tell them about the date to unload our things. When the movers showed up, even though we paid for the unload, they scammed us and never notated it in the contract, and we had to unload everything ourselves. I was in my third trimester of pregnancy and they still wouldn't budge. All of our TVs were broken. My desk chair had the head ripped off. Our things were not handled with any care. One of the movers clearly had no experience and scratched up our new walls, doors, and wooden floors. When we went to manage the damage, we submitted the claim within 24 hours, and it took them 3 months to send someone, and 6 months to receive a check from them. I cannot believe that this company is allowed to exist, and I am writing this review in hopes that you will see this before you book and avoid suffering through this poor treatment from Allied.

They have a major theft issue

I would give no stars if possible! Do not use this company!!!

They stole from us and items were broken. Funny, the items that were very delicate that I packed myself since they were too incompetent to pack efficiently made it just fine. We paid for “insurance” (over $2,000) I believe they STOLE because they took large Halloween decorations that were packed in there original boxes (not the ones they use) and I mean they are ALL missing! These were not cheap items either. After making a claim for the items damaged and STOLEN!!! They offered us an embarrassing amount of $60 dollars. They assured us that our belongings were in good hands, but it was simply one lie after another. This entire company should be ashamed.

Promises not performance

Moved from SC to NC with three months storage in between. Assured by the salesman that we would get their A+ drivers and crews, and that he would be our point person every step of the way. Until things went off the rails and he and office managerial personnel ghosted us. Move out went without any big issues other than some poor communication and coordination. Then came move in. Disappearing drivers, insufficient crew numbers, three separate dates and deliveries due to incomplete loading, a third party outfit needing to come in for our piano and the office trying to surcharge several hundred dollars more despite paying an additional fee already, damaged items (which they did pay for), not a single apology or reach out afterward. And worst if all, being given false information and status reports. Example: when the first move in date fell through: the salesman told us the truck was loaded but the driver was MIA. The office manager told us everything was still in storage. So imagine not knowing where all your possessions are and whether they are secure. Bottom line was no effort made to mitigate our distress or demonstrate anyone cared to step up when problems arose.

I would strongly caution anyone…

I would strongly caution anyone considering Coleman Worldwide Moving. My move was plagued by poor preparation, missed services, and a complete lack of accountability.

Services that were explicitly contracted and billed (in-house crating, hot tub handling with extra manpower/equipment, and portions of packing) were not provided.

When I raised these issues, Coleman attempted to apply an unrelated “weight discount” to justify closing the matter — rather than acknowledging that the promised services were simply never delivered.

Their invoicing was confusing, their communication inconsistent, and the operational execution careless. The handling of my hot tub in particular was unprofessional and caused damage.

Despite my efforts to seek reconciliation directly with management, they refused to take responsibility.

Coleman’s lack of attention to detail, poor follow-through, and unwillingness to resolve obvious operational failures reflect a systemic issue. I will be pursuing this with consumer protection channels, but I also feel an obligation to warn others: do not entrust your household goods to Coleman.

Absolute Worst Moving Experience

I have moved over 20 times and had very good experiences until now. I used Coleman who contracts with Allied Van Lines for a move from So Carolina to Ct. Eric, the sales rep, gets an A+ for selling me on the company, promising highly trained labor, careful protection of my home, plastic wrapping of furniture and clean moving blankets NONE of which actually happened.
The driver did not communicate with me, showed up late and only brought one person (68 yo) to help with the move. They did not adequately protect my home or furniture, used dirty/used moving blankets and it took 12 hours to load my 2 bedroom home (with limited furniture). I complained to management and the complaint was escalated to upper management where I was assured there would be additional labor to unload. Driver then went south to Georgia and packed a home while my belongings were in the truck in extreme heat. When he showed up a week later with my belongings it was the same 2 guys to unload! No extra help. Seems driver chose to not hire help so he could keep more money for himself. Management is obviously useless. If your time is important and you value your belongings, use a different company!!

Worst move ever

Worst move ever. Lots of damage. Lots of crushed boxes. We watched them slide the boxes down the steps. The driver quit the day of our move, so they were a "no show." We never got a call. Finally followed up to find out that the driver quit, and they weren't coming out. They got to us the next day. They disassembled everything they could. When they arrived with the goods, they did not assemble anything but the beds. So we have a number of items unassembled. The local labor was undermanned at the point of delivery, and the driver was pretty useless. They put things where they thought they went and refused to carry some boxes up the stairs. They openly stated that once a piece of furniture is placed, it would not be relocated. Just a shitty job all around.

Avoid Coleman Worldwide Moving — Paid for Protection, Got Excuses Instead

I booked Coleman Worldwide Moving (an agent of Allied Van Lines) to deliver my belongings from their Montgomery, AL storage facility to North Carolina in late 2024. I also paid for Full Replacement Value protection ($60,000) to cover damage or loss.
When my items arrived, several were missing or visibly damaged. I filed a claim right away and followed their process step by step—including collecting professional repair and replacement estimates. Despite that, Coleman (through their handler Eagle Claims) gave me a lowball offer of $6,359. I hadn’t even submitted all my documentation yet before they called it “final.” I later submitted estimates totaling $12,750, but they only increased their offer to $6,989—barely over 11% of the coverage I paid for. They then argued the damage happened in storage, not delivery, and denied my FRV protection. Their “proof”? Inventory exception forms I was never shown or told about at delivery. I asked Coleman staff simple questions about what was documented during loading. No response—just a referral back to the claims handler...I did everything right. They avoided responsibility, ignored valid documentation, and shifted blame instead of resolving the issue. Their customer service ended the moment a real issue began..."Dear potential CWM Customer--ESPECIALLY those in the Military": IMO--Think carefully before trusting this Coleman Worldwide Moving with your move. The protection you pay for may not be honored—and the process to fight for what's fair may fall on you alone...You've been warned!!!

Almost Everything was Damaged/Destroyed/Lost

We have delayed writing a bad review for over 6.5 months, but after exhausting every avenue, including speaking with the most senior levels of Coleman Allied, we are left with no choice.

If you value your household goods, your time, and your sanity, DO NOT use Coleman Allied for your moving needs. The past six months have been a nightmare, dealing with their ineptitude (both in the moving/storage business and in resolving claims for the damaged caused by their carelessness), rudeness, lies, and changing points of contact.

We used Coleman Allied for an interstate move from Tennessee to Missouri. They were paid to do a full pack-up, including packing materials and specialty crating, full replacement value coverage with no deductible, storage in Nashville, TN for 8+ months, and delivery and unpacking at our home in Missouri. Our first warning should have been how the sales rep became almost impossible to get a hold of as soon as we had signed the contract.

Our household items were packed and loaded January 4-5, 2024 and stored in their Nashville warehouse while we completed a renovation. When the packing team presented us with their packing “inventory” so we could identify high value items, it became very clear that they did not note which items were in each box and just noted vague contents. Consequently, we emailed a COMPLETE inventory list we had done for insurance purposes to the Nashville General Manager so that we had an accurate list of items and values.

Coleman Allied delivered our household goods on November 15, 2024. As they were unloading, it was apparent that the Nashville team did a horrible/unprofessional packing job (packing marble door stops on top of unprotected artwork thrown into the bottom of a box is one example among many) and a significant amount of our goods were damaged, destroyed, or missing altogether. In the process of delivering our goods they caused multiple areas of damage to our newly renovated home, including walls, doors, trim, ceilings, and newly installed hardwood floors.

We immediately notified Coleman Allied (both the Move Coordinator and the Assistant Director of Move Management & Quality) of the extensive damage/loss on November 15, 2024. A copy of the inventory list we had sent in January was provided again. We filed a residential damage claim on November 18, 2024 with the note that we continued to find damage as we unpacked and removed boxes. Coleman Allied conducted multiple warehouse searches for our missing items, each taking up to four weeks, for our missing items but have not found anything to date.

On December 23, 2024 we filed a Damage/Loss claim with Coleman Allied and Sirva (we purchased full replacement insurance for the move/storage). Our claim was in the amount of $203,838.24:
- $163,481.24 for damaged items
- $40,357.00 for missing items

To date, our claim has not been resolved. Throughout the process, Allied Coleman/Sirva have delayed, made excuses, changed their story, and given us factually incorrect information. They made inadequate attempts to repair some furniture items and artwork but have actually caused further damage to the items (e.g. finishing walnut furniture in high gloss finish instead of matte finish so it no longer matches the set). We have denied these repairs yet they have made no further attempt to fix the items they damaged.

We have made multiple requests for an itemized list of what they will be repairing/replacing/reimbursing us for, but they refuse to provide a complete and accurate list. They refused to pay for damages to our house stating that the contractor’s price is too expensive. We offered to let them hire their own contractor to do the work and they have refused. They have sent us partial settlement offers that did not itemize what was being reimbursed until we asked them to provide this list. We cannot cash the checks as we do not agree with their incomplete settlement offers that ignore the majority of our claims.

Now, six months later, we are being bounced around from one point of contact to another, including the Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Vice President - Claims, and Assistant Director of Move Management & Quality, all of whom tell us we need to talk to the other person. In the past few days, we were told that we need to file a SECOND claim with a separate company. It took repeated requests by us to get them to send the information on how/where to submit the claim. Why were we not told about this in the beginning?

This company has done everything possible to avoid paying for the damage and loss caused by their unprofessional and careless packing, moving, and storage “service.” Their lack of care for their customers is evident in the number of lawsuits against them that appear in a basic Google search.

This HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE , HORIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!…

This was the most horrible experience of my life! If you use this company, you have completely lost your senses. Broken items, lost items never found and no compensation. It took a month to get all our items that they could find to us and we didn’t use their storage. Charged us $1000 dollars extra after the quote was given because they under quoted it. There is no way to explain how horrible this move was and hope this saves others the experience we had.

This is not a reputable company

This is not a reputable company, DO NOT USE THEM!
I hired them for a cross country move and it was a disaster. They "pretended" to inventory my items before pickup but did a terrible job both of packing and inventorying. When packing they would put several different types of things in a box and then label the bow with only one thing, so that when I was trying to live out of the boxes, I had to open them all to find, for instance, a fork.
They split my shipment into two trucks and half of my items were two weeks late arriving at my new home.
Instead of inventorying my items in a single inventory they did three separate, partial inventories. They did not use any of the three inventories to determine which of my items were lost or delivered. They lost a $1,600 camera along with several other items. Because they did not have an accurate inventory of what I shipped they denied all claims of lost items. Several months later I am still coming across items that I no longer have because of their carelessness. They lost my things and then hid behind their terrible inventorying process to refuse reimbursement.

DO NOT USE these people.

DO NOT USE these people.

The following is a letter I sent resulting from a catastrophic move from Houston to San Marcos, Texas.

I moved on October 1, 2024 and submitted this document the first week in December 2024. It is critical to note that after weeks and months of disputing their original offer of $300 for their reckless handling of my belongings: many lost and even more, damaged. I have followed up too many times to recount. THEY HAVE TAKEN ZERO RESPONSIBILITY for their destruction.

This letter (the original included photos) is meant to provide details and more information on some of the items - this is certainly NOT an exhaustive list of the numerous issues I have experienced.

You are well aware of the travesty of my move that occurred on the 1st of October. It has continued to be frustrating and aggravating, with missing parts and pieces of furnishings.

I have included in my claim a file of photos of broken, damaged, and missing parts - some of which have left these items utterly unusable - many are family antiques/heirlooms.

You will see photos of a desktop, sideboard top, etc. that are still missing parts - I have had to make do with different parts that do not work as they should.
You will also see photos of the damages incurred on my sofa and chair in storage. This is aside from the 3 missing seat cushions I had to order--tailored to fit--the bill is included herein.

When my Mermaid table base was finally located and delivered, it suffered numerous chips and indications of careless handling.

Honestly, I am crestfallen with how my possessions were handled by your company. Clearly, things were not kept together, resulting in loss, damages, and utter disregard. When the second crew came to deliver my mattress and table base, they were in a state of disbelief when they saw how careless the first delivery crew was--rushing out without putting anything together. The missing bolts, nuts, screws, lamp parts, cushions.

Moving is always a highly stressful process, but Coleman Worldwide made it unbearable--most especially on top of losing both of my parents within 6 months of each other. I was looking so forward to unpacking my things after nearly 7 years ... it was all a flood of pain and disappointment.

Nope. Not this one

I wanted to give Colement the benefit of the doubt, but alas, after 3 weeks and two email (confirmed received from their automated system) I have no contact with them. This is a "first impression" of what is to come.

The move I have in mind is international, and from my first experience can be something of a nightmare. I was hopeful that this would be different, but if I were to choose Coleman, it probably would be like last time.

I never had the opportunity to interact or talk to them so I cannot say how they are other than silent.

( I don't know who I used last time, But it wasn't Coleman. The last company changed names, and my account was transferred so many times I didn't know who I was actually dealing with. This was a warning I didn't get previously. Hint taken).

Very bad experience.

We moved from Florida to Texas with them. We received our furniture 11 days later.
Most of the big furniture loaded by the movers, arrived in very bad conditions and we can not use them anymore. The driver said it was our fault, our furniture were not originally well assembled and he added our furniture were cheap. How can you say that? Inacceptable behavior and awful experience.

You may move, your belongings won’t.

Where to begin? We moved from SC to VA. The movers showed up when they were supposed to, just to lull us into a false sense of security. They gave us a six day delivery window. We heard nothing during that time (common theme). So I called them on day 5/6. And to my surprise, our belongings had not even left SC. And even better, they couldn't tell me when they would arrive. After 5 days of radio silence, we found out our belongings would be delivered 10 days late. They told us to buy what we needed to get by, and they'd reimburse us. Another lie. Our belongings arrived with many boxes damaged, our antique dining room set damaged, and all of the hardware for all of our beds and dining tables missing. Their reply is the picture of indifference. RUN, DONT WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

Terrible experience with Coleman…

Terrible experience with Coleman Worldwide Moving. Hired them for an interstate move and their delivery was made 7 days later than the last date of their 10 day confirmed delivery window. They lost multiple items from my shipment. The missing items were noted as such on the delivery paperwork with the driver. Filed a claim for their replacement which they said would take 6-8 weeks to process. Then they denied the claim saying the items weren't noted on the delivery paperwork even though I have photographs of that paperwork showing that I did call out the missing items. Find someone else or rent a U-Haul before you go with this company.

Coleman Worldwide Moving/Allied Corruption

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE spare yourself the grief and don't hire Coleman Worldwide Moving/Allied! We have made several moves over the years and never encountered the disaster that we just experienced with this company. We have over 15 boxes missing. Countless items and furniture were damaged. TV and golf clubs are missing. The parts box to all of our furniture was missing, so all of our furniture was delivered disassembled. We paid for the 100% value insurance protection to protect ourselves at the begining of the move, and they are not honoring it. Spare yourself the anguish and cost of hiring an attorney and use a legitimate company that follows protocols and abides by the rules setforth by the FMCSA.

Canceled at last minute

We scheduled our move and arranged things to move on a Friday to reduce costs and was told that a weekday move should be easy to schedule - especially in December - because almost no one moves in December. We signed their quote about 2 weeks before the move date. We were only moving about 1 mile in Henderson, NV.

72 hours before the move (and 48 hours) before they were to start packing us, they canceled. She simply said we overbooked that day. Wow!

They asked us if we'd move on Saturday instead. We agreed. The next day they informed us (by text) that they couldn't do that either. They simply do not stand behind their commitments. They are obviously not well organized and are poorly managed to allow this to occur.

If they had given us a week or so notice, we would have had time to find another mover. She said their other clients were booked before me, so they knew the date was overbooked (when I signed the quote) but they still didn't tell us until the last minute.

I received no recommendations for other companies, no help in solving our problem. Just a text saying sorry and canceling the move.

So if you have to move because your lease is up, or you sold your house, and cannot adjust the moving date at the last minute, you should avoid this company.
