Cedar House, Presingoll Barns, St Agnes
We had always stayed in, or close to Perranporth in years gone by so we were reluctant to venture out a bit further to St Agnes although the extra 5 miles of travel were insignificant. The property is spacious, clean and well-equipped and a nice touch to have a welcome pack included as well as some White Company products in the bathrooms to add a bit of grandeur. Cedar House is one of several wonderful lets on the Presingoll Barns footprint and sits on the outskirts of the village. Walking to the village centre from the property would take around 20 to 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. It offers upside down living which provides views to the rear. Yes, building work to the rear has slightly obstructed the view but clearly the properties being developed are intended for local residents. There was a bit of noise to wake up to on weekdays but nothing to really worry about unless you are looking for complete silence. We stayed with 2 dogs and it was tricky to exit the property to walk them as there are no footpaths along the main road but after a couple of hundred (carefully walked) metres on the main road, you can access public footpaths. The rear yard is compact but big enough to sit, relax and hang up any wet gear or washing. A number of reviews have mentioned the fact that is doesn't have a gate to secure dogs or young children but we stacked the chairs up to create a barrier - maybe something to provide piece of mind for future guests would be to add a gate. Although the property is not on top of the main road, it is close enough for children or dogs to get out quick enough and get in a position of danger before you know it. The property is very well equipped but our advice to others is to remember that it is self-catering so you will need to take most things with you or order a grocery delivery. Toilet rolls, tea towels and basic cleaning materials are provided to get you going. The showers are perfectly adequate and provide a welcome retreat after a busy day on the beach. The bedrooms have plenty of storage and a TV with remote control if you fancy watching a programme in bed. We would definitely visit again as the property is a really comfortable place to use as a base whilst if the weather was inclement, you would be very happy staying in and relaxing.
