I applied for a short-term tourist visa to Cyprus twice, and both times my application was refused under reason 10: “The information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not reliable.”

I submitted all required travel documents, including flight bookings, accommodation confirmation, a detailed itinerary, and proof of my friend’s details in Cyprus. My travel history clearly shows previous international trips, and my bank statements show over £4,000 available, proving I can fully fund my trip.

Despite submitting complete and genuine documentation, I was rejected. The embassy letter mentioned I could appeal, but provided no guidance on how to do so. When I contacted the embassy, they told me to reach out to VFS. VFS replied they could not assist, only the embassy could. When I emailed the embassy again, I was informed that the matter does not fall under their competence, and eventually told I would need to file a legal appeal in Cyprus, likely requiring a lawyer.

It is extremely frustrating that the embassy mentions the possibility of an appeal but gives no practical way for genuine applicants to follow through. For a short-term tourist visa, this process is unnecessarily complicated and stressful.

I hope the embassy improves communication and provides clear guidance for future applicants.

I was born in Cyprus but only had an old paper style birth certificate with the help of Cyprus Citizenships I was able to get this updated easily in Larnaca and get a same day passport.

I was born in Cyprus and left when I was age 8, but lost my Cypriot birth certificate. I used their services to order a new birth certificate from the Cyprus Archives, which took just over 3 months to come and now with the guidance of Cyprus Citizenships, i’m heading to Cyprus next week to re-register my birth into the digital system and get a same day Cypriot passport.

Ive used Cyprus Citizenships as a family for ancestry to acquire your Cyprus Passport and get back my full EU Rights. My mum has completed hers and now has a Cyprus passport and ID card and now myself and my siblings have just submitted our applications in Cyprus. The service has been excellent and the cost was £497 each, which I feel has been great value for the hassle and time saved in gathering the correct documents and correct apostilles and knowing the exact path and where to make appointments to fast track. Highly Recommend them.

I’ve recently used Cyprus Citizenships to apply for citizenship through marriage. They charged me £497 for their guidance and the process was very easy to follow. I found them very helpful, especially Andreas with helping me gather all the documents needed and the correct legalisations. I’ve now submitted my application and just need to wait up to 2 years for my application to be approved. Would definitely recommend this company if your looking to claim citizenship in Cyprus and want a hassle free process.
