Thank you very much for sending us the DVD-RAM (Maxell 5.2GB).
It was originally thought the disk might be Windows or Mac filesystem as the recording studio used Pro Tools, perhaps containing mixed stems or raw takes, and not from some proprietary intermediate recording device.
However after making a disk image and examing it, it was clear that it was not Apple or Windows formatted as there were no traces in the raw data of artifacts from either of those disk formats. That led you to an interesting and fantastic bit of detective work, tracking down the Recording Studio owner, finding it was a Fostex D824 8-track recorder, and identifying the precise model from a photograph of the studio on the internet, after which with effort between us, you got the files into Wav format, and a delightful ending to the puzzle.

Hi Alan, many thanks for your call concerning data recovery from your Dell Laptop. In this case your fairly new laptop had failed, and Dell had replaced the motherboard. Unfortunately your drive encryption was tied to the motherboard even though you did not realise it was encrypted like that. Dell never advised you at the time and only when you came to read the hard drive did you realise this problem. Dell advised they already destroyed your old motherboard, and were not much further assistance. You also are trying via Microsoft. We had a chat through your options as such encryption is designed to be very difficult to crack and beyond many data recovery companies facility. I wish you all the best with finding a solution. File Conversion old Word Perfect .WPD files from Amstrad PC Floppy Disk
I discovered some old disks used by my late father on an Amstrad pc. Howard from Data Recovery Services was able to convert these Word Perfect .WPD files into a readable format for me. I was delighted to discover the story lines of a book my late father was writing. It gave me a great deal of pleasure reading these texts as I could hear my fathers voice in my head which was a very special way to be able to remember him. The service was very quick and I was delighted with the result. I would happily recommend Data Recovery Services to anyone who might need such a service.

Many thanks for emailing the Word Perfect files over from the Amstrad Floppy Disks for us to convert. It is nice to know you could now read the old files and bring back the memories.
Unlike most Amstrads which used CF2 disks, these were the PC 3.5 inch Floppies which you had already had someone extract the files from. However although the previous data recovery company had copied the files, they advised the data was password protected and could not obtain any meaningful information. All the files either had .WPD or .SS as file extensions. These point to it being Corel Word Perfect files so Word Perfect was tried, but prompted that the files appear to be passworded, and they had found it impossible to crack the password. Anyway we decoded the files so they could open in Microsoft word for editing and be easily read.

Howard was very knowledgeable about our old CHS addressed HDD and was able to make backups from them. He provided all the needed storage media we needed to store the backups he created and verified that everything was copied correctly. I highly recommend Howard’s services and we will be using again if /when we need to reinstate any of the backups.

Thank you very much for a great review.
You had some CNC machinery running old DOS software, and to guard against future possible failure, you wisely chose to back up the hard disks.
The backups were done on your site, and saved as a series of "disk image" or dd files, meaning they were simply a sector by sector (or bit by bit) copy of the original disks.
We created clones of the hard drives, including those HDD with the old CHS addressing - meaning they were not recognised in modern LBA based hardware.
Your disks were mainly IDE or Parallel ATA interface, that look similar to SCSI (which was also a popular interface for that era on CNC machines.)
Anyway it was great working with you, and over the course of a few weeks we managed to schedule the on-site work to avoid outage or down time of the important production machines.

Fast Data Recovery.
Everything was easy. I sent the HDD to them which they checked and reported back. I won't say it was cheap because it wasn't especially as the content had no commercial value to me or anyone else. However the sentimental value was, to me, enormous. There were many pictures of my late wife, my daughters wedding and my children growing up. Things that couldn't be resurrected from other sources.
Overall the service was fast and efficient, I believe it was also cost effective, especially as the Hard drive they sold me with my restored files was definitely cheaper than Amazon.

Many thanks for bringing the WD USB hdd for data recovery. It had been used on an Apple Mac (HFS formatted) but had the wrong voltage adapter used to turn it on. The drive remained silent when turn on and another company had tried replacing the pcb without success - the drive would spin but not recognised by the computer so it arrived to us for data recovery.

Straight forward & Professional
When after a power outage at my home I couldn't get my NAS device to work again, I was terrified I'd lost all my family photos and videos. I turned to a number of data recovery service providers seeking help. I am glad I ultimately chose APEX. They are straight forward, professional and pleasant to work with. On this job the Hard Drive was running slow so making it difficult to copy data off the HP laptop. The Operating System was Windows 7 with a WD 320GB SATA HDD (model WD3200BEVT with pcb 2061-701499-E00 AC. The hdd was cloned, bad sectors were recovered, and then the data recovered off the clone and saved to a new USB disk.

Data Recovery Decrypt WD MyBook USB3 External Drive
Recently my WD External Hard Drive stopped working and would not connect to my Apple iMac. It would still attempt to power up, however it would make an unusual noise and the normal light on the front would not come on in the usual way. The drive had previously been very reliable but was suddenly...and out of the blue...struggling to initialise and connect to my computer, nor any other computers I tried it with. I had approx 2TB of data which I simply could not access which was a major concern. Howard re-assured me that there was still a fighting chance that the data could be recovered which was music to my ears, although honestly I did fear the worst. Thankfully Howard was correct and he did manage to decrypt and recover 100% of my lost data and hand it back to me on a brand new drive. Needless to say I was delighted! Everything appeared on the new drive just the way it was prior to the old drive breaking down with no complications. Communication from Howard was excellent, he kept me very well informed on where things were at during the process and was honest and re-assuring the whole time. He clearly understood the value of the data to me and genuinely wanted to successfully recover it. I cannot fault the experience, Howard offers a truly superb and professional service and I would highly recommend him to anybody who finds themselves in a similar situation to me. From now on my backups will be more frequent, but on this occasion...thanks to Data Recovery Services UK...I didn't lose a single thing! Howard, many thanks for your time and for recovering all of my data, I am truly grateful!

Many thanks for bring the broken Hard Disk to us for recovery. WD encrypt these drives even when you do not set the password or make any positive selection to encrypt the data. When viewed at low level the drive and files appear to be random, with no file system shown and drive not recognised by PC or Apple Mac, even though in your case it was HFS formated in the iMac. SO there are 2 levels of work t data recovery from the MyDook Studio - 1. Get the drive physically working, and 2. Decrypt the data and files. All of which complicates the process and as you know, as time goes on, the value of the data diminshes. So thanks for trustuing us with the recovery and many thanks for the 5 stars! Really helpful company, spoke to the owner, Howard and although he wasn't able to resolve my problem as it's wasn't a service they offered, he did give me some recommendations of companies that could fix my HDD. Wouldn't hesitate to contact them again, genuine, honest and all round nice bloke.

You had asked for Data Recovery from a hard drive that was not being seen by the computer, but also noisy - unfortunately when they reach the unusual noise stage there are better companies out there to help you. They do that sort of recovery on a daily basis but beware of scam companies - remember Google is your friend for reviews and helping to identify problem companies etc. Good luck! We had a devastating blow to our business with the outage of one of our main SAN devices. It was Raid-5 but the device itself failed. We could not find a replacement cabinet. Being just out side New York City we thought we could find a company that has some experience with this device. No luck. We searched the internet till we found Apex Technology Limited UK .We contacted Howard and his staff knew exactly what to do. After an initial reluctance to send our data overseas we realized we made the right choice. He has specific experience with this device and quickly recovered our data. When we had customs issue returning the transferred data, Howard personally stepped in to pay the fees to release the package so as not cause extra delay. Many thanks for sending us the Lacie INNS04-4200-LAC. These units are based on an Intel NAS box and use a proprietary filesystem which is why you might have trouble finding someone to recover the files. At some point before it reached us Drives 3 and 4 had been swapped and someone had attempted a raid rebuild in a Windows machine which destroyed some data. Fortunately we managed to rebuild the data structures and finally save the folders and files to a USB drive for returning to USA.
Great to know it worked out well for you and thanks for taking the time to write us a detailed excellent review. Have a great weeked!

Howard, we are forever grateful to you for the wonderful work you and your team did in recovering our data. We tried three other places, including PC World who after days of sending updates the data had been recovered, finally told us they had been unsuccessful. You can imagine the shock, disappointment and panic as time was of essence.
We were so desperate we entered into negotiation with a company in the US and we ready to send the hard drive to them when we came across you and although you received it on a Saturday, you updated us the next day, Sunday, that you had successfully recovered everything. Since then, you have availed yourself to advise where necessary at no extra cost. God bless you very much.

Wow! I didn't realise you had been through so much before you found us! It must have taken a leap of faith to trust someone else after that series of events but thank you very much for choosing us for the data recovery of your database from the internal hard drive of your computer. The drive was a Seagate Barracuda model ST31000528AS with pcb100535537 REV A 7200.12 with the common fault that it remains silent when switched on and was not recognised by the computer (failed to boot up).

I approached Howard with a Seagate HDD with a damaged PCB. He was able transplant the chip on to a donor board to assist in recovering my lost data from the damaged disk.
I was updated throughout the process and would not hesitate to recommend Data recovery services in the future.
