My now husband and I decided about 2 years ago, after a trip to Riveria Maya, that we wanted to have a destination wedding in that area. When we started doing our own research we found it extremely daunting with all of the options for weddings in Mexico. We had a vision of our dream, but without being able to see each venue in person it was definitely challenge.

I searched for assistance on google and came across Destination Weddings. Little did I know making the decision to use them would, up until the day of the wedding, make our experience non-stressful and to be honest really enjoyable.

Soon after filling out our information on the site we were paired with Sandy Patrzykont. She reached out quickly and was able to take our vision and provide a few venues that were in our price range and that met the tropical aesthetic we were longing for. Due to previous commitments we were unable to visit the location ourselves, but Sandy assisted with setting up a trip and visit for my mom and dad. From the airport pick up to their beautiful room and the coordination to have an onsight tour from the wedding department. Sandy treated our family as if it were us, the bride and groom, on this first trip. Luckily this trip was the final and we selected the resort Sandy had recommended.

In the months to come Sandy assisted all of our guests with their questions about booking their rooms to the on going questions about transportation from Cancun to Tulum, which is quiet a distance. Sandy kept in contact every step of the way and was quick to respond to ever email we sent even in the days leading up to the wedding. There is one specific instance where she blew any expectations out of the water. A guest coming to our wedding had some passport trouble and Sandy worked tirelessly to ensure that when the problem was solved she was able to get from the airport to the resort. and that her check in to the resort would be seamless. This all occurred the day before the wedding and this guest was arriving very late in the evening.

My husband and I are so thankful for Sandy and for the support that the Destination Wedding service provides. I would highly recommend Destination Weddings to anyone who is planning a destination wedding. They allow you to enjoy the process and just worry about the reason the wedding is happening and who you are marrying!

Karen LaSala was our destination travel specialist we were connected with. She was very helpful and made sure to take care of us and all of our guests! She was always timely with her responses as well. We are very thankful!

We had quite a few phone calls with her to really get the wedding planning started, and she made everything super easy. From our very first conversation, Amy took the time to explain the entire process in detail, making everything so clear and manageable. She was with us every step of the way always prompt with her responses, incredibly organized, and so friendly and reassuring. Honestly, she took all the stress out of wedding planning so we could focus on enjoying the moment.
From helping us secure our reservation during our onsite visit to managing room bookings for our guests (even handling last-minute changes!), Amy handled everything flawlessly. We had a great experience working with Destination Weddings. The process was smooth and easy to understand. We were lucky to be assigned to travel specialist, Ashlee Wills, who listened to the wants and needs for our big day and made sure to find the right location in our budget and aesthetic! Would recommend!

Just wanted to leave some feedback from our trip. My wife and I were part of a Destination Wedding at Majestic Colonial in Dominican Republic. What an experience!
Our travel agent Debra Clifford was a tremendous help right from the start to finish. Any questions we had she would get back to us promptly and help us through them to make sure we understood. Right from online booking to airport check ins/ departures, anything and everything was answered. Definitely a positive experience and someone who represents the company very well.
Will definitely be recommending your company and agent to everyone!

P.S. We ran into 2 other agents on the trip Connie and Amanda who were so friendly and amazing. Definitely you have top notch agents representing your company.

We plan to go to the wedding in Cancun in December 2025, and we were told to register and book our hotel through DestinationWedding.com. When we finished selecting our room, DestinationWedding.com wanted us to PAY in full right away even though it's bout 6 months away. So we had decided to book our room directly with the hotel and all we had to do is to make a small deposit.

I highly recommend destination weddings for planning your future destination wedding. Sue Allen was our assigned coordinator and she was fantastic! She was very quick with response time and very knowledgeable. My guest all were able to get in touch with her and receive help with all of their bookings and questions. My wedding day ended up perfectly! I had zero stress throughout my day because everything was so organized and went so smoothly!

I want to give a huge thank you to Samantha Russom for making our destination wedding planning experience so smooth and stress-free! She was absolutely essential in handling all the communication with the resort, coordinating our room block, and supporting our guests with their bookings and questions.

She was incredibly organized, responsive, and patient — always just an email or call away, and never missed a detail. Thanks to her, we were able to relax and actually enjoy the planning process, knowing everything was being taken care of behind the scenes.

Our guests also had nothing but great things to say about her help, which meant the world to us. If you’re planning a destination wedding and want someone who’s reliable, communicative, and genuinely cares, I highly recommend working with Samantha!

Awful experience with DeAna Haywood. Prior to the wedding the availability of our guests to get ahold of her was extremely inconsistent (all attempts were during her work hours). When she did respond there were many passive aggressive messages shared with me by my guests. She was unclear in her communication with myself and my husband. The frustrations continued when guest arrived. One guest had added their children later on and paid destination weddings for said children…but we found out when they checked in that DeAna did not pay the resort for said children. I spent 2 hours figuring this out with the emergency line (the only helpful individual we came in contact with at Destination Weddings) the day before our wedding. These guest had been up since 2am traveling and DeAna’s lack of care caused them to sit in the lobby for 2 hours until they could get into their room. Did she answer her phone during this time? No she did not. Not once. We have sent in bad reviews to their company since returning from the trip and have all got the same give a crap less automated message back. I will NEVER recommend this service to another bride. Thankfully our resort and resort coordinator made our wedding truly beautiful despite DeAna, Destination Weddings, downfalls.

More Unethical Conduct from Destination Weddings

In my initial review of my experience with Destination Weddings, I detailed my negative experience with Leslie Morris who was basically incompetent at her super easy job. Failing to provide flight options, spelling names erroneously and an overall unpleasant attitude were all noted in my initial review. I was contacted by the company and provided a general apology-no questions were asked and no information was requested. Contrary to Destination Weddings response to my second review, the team was not “indeed waiting to hear back from me to begin a conversation about my experience”. Super unbelievable that this company continues to lie in order to discredit honest online reviews which are meant to assist the public. Their efforts to discredit my genuine reviews of my experience are honestly appalling and reflect poorly on their business practices. The email received from Destination Weddings simply apologized for my experience and stated that they hoped they could have the opportunity to assist my family in future. They certainly won’t at this point. The only conversation I am currently having with the company revolves around my demand that they delete the responses to my reviews which are an attempt to discredit me and which contain outright lies. Again, if your considering trusting this company with one of the most important days of your life-don’t do it. You won’t be happy and neither will your guests. A number of guests were unhappy with their experience with Leslie Morris and it was discussed throughout the trip.

For the incompetent customer service rep that keeps lying in response to my reviews, note that I will continue to post further 1 star reviews clarifying the truth so just stop because your unethical responses are having the opposite effect.

We can’t say enough great things about Karen LaSala and the incredible job she did coordinating our destination wedding in the Dominican Republic. From the very beginning, she was organized, responsive, and knowledgeable about the process of planning a wedding abroad — something that would have been overwhelming without her help.

Karen handled everything from guest travel arrangements and accommodations to liaising with the resort and helping us stay on track with deadlines. We had a large group with varying travel needs, and she made sure every detail was taken care of, keeping everyone informed and happy. Our guests repeatedly told us how easy and stress-free the booking process was, which we owe entirely to Karen’s professionalism and dedication.

Thanks to her, we were able to fully enjoy the experience and focus on what mattered most — celebrating with our loved ones. If you're planning a destination wedding or group trip, we wholeheartedly recommend Karen. She truly went above and beyond to make our special day perfect.

Amy with First Cass Travel Agent did a fabulous job as always. She took care of us before and during our trip. We were very pleased with her work as always. We will definitely be booking with Amy for our next adventure.

Unfortunately, our experience working with Terri Nash for travel planning was disappointing. Communication was a major issue—despite assurances of being responsive via email, we struggled to get timely replies, especially when our flights were unexpectedly canceled. In a moment when we needed support, there was little assistance from Terri or her supervisor. There was also a significant lack of coordination with the resort, leading to confusion about our shuttle times—including a 5 a.m. pickup on the wrong day. What was meant to be a special and enjoyable trip was marred by poor communication and planning. Several other wedding guests encountered similar issues and expressed frustration as well. Based on this experience, I would not recommend working with Terri.

My experience with Leslie Morris was disappointing to say the least. She was neither helpful nor pleasant to deal with. My brother-in-law and now sister-in law used Leslie Morris via Destination Weddings to plan their wedding in the DR. My understanding is that Leslie's job was was to help facilitate guests getting to the hotel to celebrate the wedding. She was quite bad at this. Given that I have a baby (which I disclosed to Leslie), I wanted to fly out from Toronto as I planned to fly from Vancouver to Toronto and then Toronto to Punta Cana on a separate day in an effort to break the flight in half. Getting flight times was like pulling teeth from Leslie. I explained how important flight times are when flying with a baby-most parents like to fly at particular times in order to factor in nap times, feeding schedules etc. Despite this, she put little effort into finding alternative flight times. I had to follow up with her multiple times and sure enough after insisting that she check for alternative flights on numerous occasions, I was able to find an ideal daytime flight for my family. Honestly, I'd rather deal with a computer any day. Leslie was so unpleasant to deal with that I considered arranging my travel to the DR myself-something I am more than capable of, however I knew my brother-in-law needed the numbers to reach a threshold that was required per the wedding contract. If it weren't for this fact, I would have much preferred to make my own arrangements and not deal with Leslie. In any event, I waited until my return to write my review of Leslie (and Destination Weddings as she is a representative of same) because I didn't want to chance any "errors" with respect to my flight/flight documents. I'm glad I waited to write my review because upon arriving in the DR for the wedding, I was advised by numerous other guests that they had a disappointing experience with Leslie Morris as well. Other guests described her as "terrible, incompetent, unpleasant"-basicially the same experience I had. I was told that she made spelling errors with respect to names (truly unacceptable given her job and the importance of correct spelling when it comes to travel documents), I was also told she failed to submit crib and microwave requests on behalf of other parents (I didn't trust her so I made my own personal requests directly to the hotel) and i was told she was generally unpleasant to deal with. Just because you add "cheers' to the end of every email, doesn't make your email any more polite. After hearing all of this, I made sure to let my new sister-in-law know that she shouldn't be recommending Leslie Morris/Destination Weddings to anyone. I had already told her about my experience with Leslie and I had urged her to write to all her guests herself in advance of the wedding to remind them to check their travel documents for spelling accuracy (which she did). In summary, I wouldn't tell anyone I know to use Destination Weddings because of my experience with Leslie Morris. I also intend to re-post this detailed and honest review elsewhere where reviews may be posted. Finally, I urge Destination Weddings to have Leslie take a customer service refresher course. Sometimes people tend to get too comfortable in their jobs and that may be the case here. Regardless, Leslie's lack of competency is unacceptable and not a great reflection on your company.

My experience with Destination weddings was OK until my dream wedding had to be cancelled due to information about the resort being withheld from me. My wedding was supposed to be in May of 2025 ON THE BEACH...welp that couldn't happen apparently that resort no longer had a beach suitable for a wedding. I didn't find out the resort I originally booked with was SOLD to new owners until THREE months before my wedding and had to start replanning everything then and delt with the most unprofessional wedding planners between the one at the resort and Destination Weddings. After finding out it was sold let me to suspicions as I read more and more reviews from all different platforms. No hot water, no beach, mold and mildew in the fridges and rooms, people not getting the rooms they paid for. Mind you I was traveling with over 30 people and a few of them being infants who could get VERY sick from these conditions. Destination weddings have refused to refund me and my guests for their rooms leaving my guest no option but to travel to a resort under terrible conditions. To say the least, I have contacted the Better Business Bureau as well.
The resort and Destination Weddings just want MONEY..they don't really care about the satisfaction of their customers. A HUGE day of mine is now cancelled and ruined and thousands of dollars out the window.
