Aggressive/intimidating staff member on airbridge
I don't usually post reviews, but feel compelled to share this story so female travellers considering flying with Egypt Air can take it into account.
I flew from Larnaca-Shanghai on Sat 28/Sun 29th March on flights MS742 and MS951. Our second flight was delayed over five hours and we had to wait in the airport overnight. There was a fair amount of chaos/lack of comms involved in that whole ordeal, so when I was boarding the plane I was exceptionally tired and looking forward to sitting down. My husband was some way behind me in the queue so I appeared to be a solo female traveller.
On the airbridge, I handed my boarding pass to a member of staff to be checked. He insisted on checking my passport again, which I handed over. I then took the passport and ticket back and went to board.
The member of staff called me back and took my passport again. He then shouted at me that I should have taken the passport from him more gently, looming over me and raising his voice. I was completely shocked (I really did not think I had taken the passport back in a rude way).
The man continued to shout at me, and did not give my passport back until I said sorry. He was aggressive and physically intimidating, and I was worried he would not let me board the plane.
I mentioned this to the cabin crew when I got on the plane, but they did nothing.
I complained to Egypt Air by email afterwards along with a photo of the man in question, but all they have said is that they 'deeply regret any inconvenience I encountered'. They say they have passed on the complaint to the department involved but cannot do anything else.
Eqypt Air Poor Quality
An airline to avoid if at all possible. Bought business class seats to travel to an event in Saudi in December. On return flight I got to the gate only to be told I had been downgraded because they overbooked and told to email someone in London for compensation. I have been chasing Egypt Air for months and passed around different people which was made even more difficult by the fact that they eventually asked me to go in to their London office in person to present my boarding pass rather than accepting it by email and checking it against their records. They have ended up offering me £GB£32 + US$125 compensation which is a remarkable cheek. A really poor show.

Also, they were still selling tickets online for flights that were already cancelled, which is very misleading.
Overall, poor customer service and no responsibility. One of the worst airlines I’ve dealt with.

Ich hatte einen Flug von Kairo nach Hurghada und habe ein Ticket in der Business Class gebucht und bezahlt.
Am Flughafen wurde mir jedoch mitgeteilt, dass mein Ticket nur als Economy Class ausgestellt ist. Trotz dieser Situation war das Personal vor Ort leider überhaupt nicht entgegenkommend und hat keine Lösung angeboten.
Ich musste den Flug gezwungenermaßen in Economy antreten, obwohl ich für eine deutlich bessere Leistung bezahlt habe.
Gerade von einer Airline erwarte ich in so einem Fall Unterstützung oder zumindest den Versuch, eine Lösung zu finden – das ist hier leider komplett ausgeblieben.
Sehr enttäuschend.

Man wird eigentlich staendig angeschrieen. Aegypter sind die hoeflichsten Menschen der Welt, die Ausnahmen arbeiten als Flugbegleiter bei Egyptair. Unfreundlich und gelangweilt. Sie machen keinen Hehl daraus, dass sie ihren Job hassen. Das Essen war ungeniessbar. Besser andere Fluggesellschaft waehlen

Catastrophique ! Egyptaire in Brussels ! Il y’a plus d’un ans c’etais une dame un peu âgé très sympa à l’écoute et répondais au téléphone maintenant il y’a une dame horrible qui manque de respect ne répond pas au téléphone elle est hautaine et ne fait pas bien son travail elle ne s’exprime pas correctement en français ! Affreux vraiment ! Elle a changer mon billet d’avion et n’a pas changé celui de mon fils ne fait pas travailler correctement et est très méchante ! Je vous déconseille cette compagnie vous serez dessus et de la s’ajoute les retard, 90% des cas vous serez en retard de minimum 2h ! Ils ne sont pas du tout professionnels , leur travail est horrible à fuire !

Positives- the check in staff was excellent. She went above and beyond to keep the seating together even though my agent messed up the booking. You can tell she really cared. Her name I think is Sihat.

Worest experience ever
Over the past 16 years of frequent travel, with more than 150 flights, my experience with EgyptAir has unfortunately been the most disappointing.
Each journey presented a different challenge. On two occasions, there were prolonged delays before takeoff during the summer, with no air conditioning provided, which made the situation extremely uncomfortable. On another flight, I encountered unprofessional and discourteous behavior from the staff.
Most recently, the lack of flexibility has been particularly frustrating. Options for rescheduling, refunds, or even keeping the ticket open came with excessively high fees. I was offered a refund of only 275, despite the ticket being resold for approximately 3000 during an exceptional period.
Overall, these repeated experiences have significantly impacted my confidence in the airline, and I do not intend to travel with them again.
Flight itself fine, don’t expect service or water
The service from cabin crew is just terrible, lazy and I think a little bit racist. Despite us being very polite and no trouble, they seemed to intentionally miss non Egyptians during service and dismiss people even our seat neighbours who found vomit in their seat pocket when boarding. Tiny thimblefuls of water given out and unwillingly so. Cabin was very hot. It was ok on the flight to Egypt as we had our own bottles but were forced to empty these before boarding when flying home from Egypt. The cabin crew really let this airline down for us which is a shame as the flights actually ran relatively smoothly and the landings were good. They do a disservice to the pilots, the rest of the airline experience / operation and the country as a whole. I have to conclude they do not care as they are not incentivised to provide anything better than rock bottom. Why not run a duty free sales service on board? They’d soon learn a little about customer service!
Total Lack of Safety and Accountability – Zero Response to Complaints
I am writing this as a warning to other travelers. My first experience with EgyptAir (Ref: ZKH3WP, 27 Dec) was defined by systemic failure and a complete lack of professional management.
During a transit in Cairo, our flight was repeatedly delayed with no communication. The boarding gate was changed at the last minute without announcement, leading to a dangerous crush of people. Most concerningly, a tense and unsafe interaction with another passenger on board was completely ignored by the cabin crew.
Since landing, I have reached out multiple times to resolve the additional costs and stress this caused. EgyptAir has completely ignored my emails. It is clear that once they have your money, passenger safety and customer satisfaction are no longer a priority. I am currently escalating this to the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority. Avoid this airline if you value safety and basic communication.

Very poor onboard service with rude insolent crew members. Egypt airways seems to have a very strict no smile policy at the check in desks and on the flight. Crew behave like they don’t want to be there, are miserable and serve ( no they throw ) meals like passengers are like beggars. If only someone can slap the rudeness out if them. POOR POOR POOR. Don’t fly with them. EVER

Two trips with Egypt Air, if the seating is a guide to the mechanical upkeep you may not reach your destination, Fred Flintstone planes so hang on tight if you do choose to fly with them!

We traveled from Dublin to Egypt Cairo then to Luxor then Hurghada to Cairo and back to Dublin . Flights left on time arrived on time and the service was top class . We got food and drinks which were included in our flight cost .

My experience with EgyptAir customer…
My experience with EgyptAir customer service has been extremely disappointing.
I booked a flight departing from Lebanon through Expedia and paid the full ticket amount by credit card. After the flight was canceled, I requested a refund. Expedia confirmed in writing that the refund had already been processed and released from their side.
Despite this, EgyptAir has not issued the refund and has not responded to multiple follow-up emails over several weeks. There has been no explanation, no update, and no accountability from their customer service team.
For an international airline, this level of communication and support is unacceptable. When customers trust an airline with their money, they should expect transparency and timely responses. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite.
