I placed my order over a month ago and …
I placed my order over a month ago and was not contacted that the item was out of stock. I called more than 2 weeks ago and found out that the item had not shipped and was out of stock. This is not good business practice and very frustrating for the customer. I told the employee that I spoke to that I would have appreciated correspondence regarding the delay in shipping.

Shipping to Canada
I ordered from Canada. My order was shipped via UPS. The order was withheld at customs in the Canada-US border. Nobody informed me. I waited for over 10 days. I then asked Empire Imports for the tracking number. UPS demanded CAD33 to clear the package at customs. However, this is too expensive compared to my order worth USD50. So, I made a trip to Canada Border Services to clear the package myself.
I suggest Empire Imports to ship by government's US Postal Service for shipments to Canada.

hidden cost high, delivery slow
always upsetting when getting items from the US to be confronted with customs expenses.
Trading across borders it should be simple enough for the seller to know the tariffs due on their products. Having that added on after the purchase is very annoying and makes you think twice on another purchase .
Delivery by UPS delayed without any stated reason, twice. Instead of the announced and confirmed delivery on a Thursday, it was finally delivered on the following Tuesday.

Excellent service, second rate product
I was very pleased with the service. It was on time and as advertised. The product, which I presume was imported, was not consistent in size, A5 nor thickness. The books put together were irregular either on top or bottom unless they were made from the same five hundred sheet group

Staff are great!
Staff are prompt, friendly and accommodating - so much so that the staff to whom I spoke went out of their way to help me find the products that I needed, rather than let me flounder on my own.
I am a retired customer, so no longer place large orders of anything; but I felt treated as if my small order were a BIG one! How often does that happen!?
Also, Empire's inventory is the ONLY place I look for European office products. (Having lived abroad for much of my adult life, I discovered early on how much organizational SENSE the EUROPEAN model makes for me.)

File holes off
I have been buying file books from Empire for about 15 years and always pleased with the quality. However, my latest order has spacing for the holders which matches neither A4 nor US paper specifications. Using my Eureopean hole puncher is thus impossible and the only way I can make use of the current order is with a one-hole puncher to get the proper spacing

When I had a question about my order, I called in. The customer service rep discovered that I hadn't received tracking information due to my email address was incorrect, and she happily told me when I could expect my item, the tracking information and updated my email address.

Responsive and Reassuring
I was overwhelmingly pleased in my latest experience with Empire Imports because when I explained to a member of the team that a previous delivery failed to make its way to me Empire Imports quickly took measures that rectified the issue and ensured that I had the supplies necessary to my work.
