The previous three transactions with your firm were o.k.
However this transaction took three months to even start for whatever reason.

Everything was completed quickly on part of Emsley’s solicitors just slight delay from buyer on mortgage but that is the cases in present times! All gone well sale done would recommend Emsley’s Solicitors fully.

I’ve had plenty of time to think about what to write in this review. It’s taken this firm of clowns almost two years to complete what should have been a simple probate application.

Unfortunately for my brother and I , our elderly father used Emsley’s to make a Will, the Will indicated Emsley’s as sole executors and was witnessed by two of their staff. (Independent witnesses, I don’t think so, alarm bells ??). Fortunately for Emsley’s this appeared to give them an open cheque book. The process has taken almost two years to deal with. The bill was more than 50% higher than originally stated. They took an interim payment half way through the proceedings despite me telling them not to as (a) the job was nowhere near concluded and (b) the interim payment appeared to be the original amount quoted. There was no continuity with the staff, we had dealings with 4 solicitors over the period. It seems they can’t retain staff! Beware if this happens to you as of course the replacement solicitors are on a higher hourly rate than the first one we dealt with! I’ve had to continually chase up the status of the application, many many emails (of course all charged for!)
After speaking with the Legal Ombudsman we raised an official complaint to Emsley’s which wasted another month. Emsleys despite realising errors on their part have concluded they have done their job and charged accordingly.
We have decided not to take the next complaint step as this apparently can take up to a further 12 months, our backs were against the wall as Emsley’s were holding our fathers money.
I would not recommend this firm to anyone and I would not recommend any solicitor being named as a sole executor on a Will.
I’m totally dismayed, disgusted and appalled that this profession can work in this way. Didn’t even want to give them one star, they had enough out us!
No doubt they will reply and say that their (own in house) complaints procedure didnt find anything out of order. They would say that would they!! Our back was against the wall as they were holding our fathers money so we had no option other than to agree to them taking the rest of the extortionate bill.

This is the second time we have instructed Emsleys Solictors and on both occasions I can not stress enough on the teams personal service, knowledge and experience. Andrew Greenwood has particularly been invaluable in both my cases and could not have succeeded without his support. Thank you very much for everything and I would strongly recommend Elmsleys to all my friends and family. A superb law firm!!!

My review is in respect of the Notary, Will Armstrong. He is very helpful and would definitely use his services again.

So grateful to Claire. She handled my case so smoothly, answered all of my questions and always kept me informed of any updates. At all times I was treated professionally and politely and I felt that my case was important to them and yet it was a fairly small matter.

We used Emsleys for our conveyancing and Adam did an excellent job. Kept me well informed at all stages. I would strongly recommend them. Very reasonably priced too.

If I could give no stars I would.

Appointed Emsleys to deal with probate after my brother passed away with no Will. 4 months down the line and no communication from them, chased to find out nothing had been done to move it forward. A complete waste of time and a bill of £600 for nothing. Do NOT use these people for any probate applications.

They indicate they will only take 25% of any settlement. In fact they took 55% of the total awarded.

Regret having to give them one star

Avoid this solicitors at all costs!! They think nothing of making medical diagnoses even though they confirm they are not medically trained. Even more worrying is their use of unprofessional language and they actually encourage this! Maybe if they spent more time investigating a case rather than making assumptions they would get better reviews. I would certainly not recommend these people at all.

My husband had an accident in a local supermarket. We was total we had such a "good case", from the original solicitor sent all information over plus video evidence that we had. New solicitor took over and was told we "had less then reasonable prospects of success".

Clearly someone is lying. Yes we will able seeking a second opinion.
