BE VERY CAREFUL
"The Company Director is Mark Caulfield, and I believe his wife is also involved in the running of the company. They also operate a similar business under a different name, Glasshouse Architecture, which was previously The Oakfields Group Ltd. Based on my experience, I personally would not choose to deal with any of these companies again."
My experience with The Oakfields Group, as it was named when the goods were purchased, was extremely disappointing. I was acting under Power of Attorney for my daughter, who was working abroad. Despite the contract stating that major credit and bank cards would be accepted, they insisted on a bank transfer—offering no customer protection while securing immediate payment for themselves. This marked the beginning of a long and frustrating process.
For delivery, they requested full payment of the delivery cost before unloading the materials. We negotiated to pay only after verifying that the correct materials had arrived and were unloaded. Communication on delivery day from the company was excessive and, at times, pressuring. At one point, we received 18 texts in quick succession, including one stating that an additional charge of £1,000 per DAY would be applied if payment wasn’t made within 30 minutes of delivery—despite the company already having received approximately £20,000 upfront before a single item had been delivered.
Later, when we requested a final inspection meeting with only one company representative, we received 10 emails in response, some of which contained comments unrelated to the project, including remarks about a house extension and untrue financial matters which were not of their concern or related to the project.
Overall, we found the company’s approach to be difficult, unprofessional, and stressful. If you value clear communication, transparency, integrity, and professional service, we would strongly recommend considering other options.
