All my dealings with The Motley Fool have been first class. Thanks for your great work!! Keep it up
Outstanding customer service. Had an issue with subscription renewal and Sarah provided a cheerful remedy within 48hrs. Cannot recommend highly enough. Great general advice service also. Support this organisation!
These guys provide a great service, reasonably solid research. I use it as a stock picking suggestion tool and to back up my own theses on companies. Not all rec's go well but that is the business and the market can go through tough times. The bottom line message which I most agree with is time in the market.
I joined Motley because they have quite an exposure to the Stock Market. Unfortunately having followed their recommendations I have lost money albeit small sums. I am glad I didn't go in hard. My own research has fielded much better profitable results. So I don't know who their so called experts are but they leave a lot to be desired.
I wholeheartedly recommend Motley Fool Australia Team to people who want to learn how to invest wisely and confidently to build or supplement their retirement nest egg. I started with Extreme Opportunities and Share Advisor before retirement and then bought the Platinum Service to learn as much as I can about the whole market. Podcasts, commentary and online analysis from the great team at Motley Fool AU have built my motivation and confidence to continue to grow my wealth.
I have been a member of Motley Fool for as long as I can remember. My first share recommendation of theirs that I purchased was IRI at $1.13 and I have watched it go up and down like a yoyo. I started out with share advisor, upgrade to to PRO (paid for itself 10,000 times over) and now have PLATINUM which is a bit of overkill as I don't trade that often since COVID but FOMO makes me buy it and the cost is tax deductible against both portfolios. So if you are looking for a recommendation I could not rate this mob highly enough. The market is a bumpy ride but like any investment you have to start somewhere and be prepared to gamble. Employ a good accountant - understand when to sell, when to buy or do what I do and just sit on them and watch them grow. Enjoy the ride I say.
I started off knowing nothing about the share market but really wanted to learn. After doing some research, I made the decision to joint Motley Fool Australia. That was five years ago. I now have a good sized portfolio thanks to Scott, Erin and their team on the recommendations provided. It’s the best decision I’ve made.
Apparently, I am one of a small, select group of our most tenured Motley Fool Platinum members. This surprises me, in that the Motley Fool have ignored or brushed off all my feedback over the last 2 years.
My fully documented feedback provided to them covered the following points;
• Major misleading errors in most Portfolios Scorecards, Overstating performance and reducing Motley Fools credibility. Event the Platinum Members Company by MF Service is full of errors.
• Lack of Transparency - Updates do not reflect reality of most MF Portfolios. Like to see some numbers, not general motherhood statements.
• Lack of Balance around company report updates. Ie Dubber and Cochlear
• Recommending companies with unethical standards, outstanding Patent Infringements and Class Actions without disclosure in their recommendation.
• Sell decisions - Generally too late when value of share has gone down more than 75%. Sometimes a backflip just after the buy recommendation.
• Duplication of recommendations and communication for Platinum members. Hard to track what to do as there are so many cross recommendations between services, sometimes with different buy / sell statuses.
• All but three of the MF Services are Growth / Tech focused and have performed so much worse than the market in the last 8 months. You need to make sure that the service you are going to subscribe to meets your investing objectives.
My investment strategy is not to go out and buy stocks that are recommended each week, but to take all the Motley Fool stocks, and make a 15 year analysis of growth in sales, cashflow, earnings, and book value. I then look at the three year prediction of course. I check the sales price ratio and the book value price ratios to see if the stocks are overpriced.
I am disappointed that Motley does not take a wider view of the sharemarket, such as energy and material stocks, which are growing rapidly with new technology, and with world shortages of certain materials. Many of these stocks are outperforming the laggards in my Motley list.
Generally I am not comfortable with the recommendation to keep stocks for 10 years or so. Many of the Motley stocks are key growth stocks, but after some time sales will flatten, unless they come up with new products or new services as Apple and Amazon have done. Even the sales for these companies has flattened now.
I joined Motley Fool many years ago, having read about it in the UK and America. The basic tenet it follows is the advice of the greatest investor of all time - Warren Buffet. Fundamentally, you buy good companies at a reasonable price, hold them for years, unless the thesis breaks, and reap the rewards of time and compound interest. The advice from Motley Fool is always reasoned and prudent and as a consequence I have been able to ensure the financial security of my family. and, enjoyed the trip whilst doing so.
Honest and well prepared advice with particular emphasis on the perspective relevant to current market conditions.
I have used the service for ~10 years. They taught me how to build a diversified share portfolio, how to allocate position sizes and have given fair in-depth insights into companies they recommend without BS. The weekly summary of news, reviews and recommendations is extremely valuable
The Fool Team have been a part of my investing journey for more years than I care to count. I subscribe across a number of the MF services, and also a competitor or two at times.
Why the five stars ? Integrity, humour and being prepared to have an opinion and back it with facts. Are they always right - hell no. But if you balance the ups and downs, the ups outweigh the downs.
I don’t rely totally on the MF services, and have built up my own toolset - but they are a consistent benchmark and source of new ideas. These guys will continue to be a part of my investing future as long as I am able to do so. Thanks MF.
Generally my experience has been very good and prior to the recent crash, my portfolio was doing really well. I feel when the wheels are coming off, it would be better to cash out and reinvest down the track. I understand good Crystal balls are hard to come by, but watching your portfolio tank is never pleasing. Playing the long game might not be the best advice with what’s happening in the world.
Became a fan of the Fools philosophy in the US years ago. Initially very pleased with the AU service however my guess is that staff changes over the last two years have left some pretty ordinary advisers in senior roles. The advice has become formulaic, rote with only occasional real insight. Being ordinary they are way, way too credulous of the nonsense spruiked by company boards who are always seeking to pump their price of course.
For all that I have done pretty well following leads from Motley Fools - so here’s hoping they see sense and employ some more serious minded advisors.
Worryingly the business model seems to have become one of ever proliferating lists to be offered for a new fee (my subscription includes all lists so I’m not impacted) and of course they use the same research in the different lists. To my mind their advice would far stronger if they concentrated better quality research on fewer lists - but that might mean less gross revenue for the MF.
Disappointed because I really liked these guys a few years back
Have been a member for a good many years. The fool experience is a good experience. Can't give em a 5, as they're not right all the time, no one is! The fool crew have taught me a lot. The market is hard at the moment but that creates opportunities. Could they have taken a more Macro view maybe 6 to 9 months ago in pushing more buy "opportunities'," Maybe so. But jeez, look 5 years ago at what some of their recommendations have done!
I have used MF Australia services for many years now. Consistent high quality advisory service!
This is the only No bull s.service around honest reviews great knowledge excellent research and good people to deal with
It was a great place to start and read up to inform myself on how to start trading and some handy hints. I got some winning tips and some not so great ones but i believe it help set me up and learn a lot more than i knew before joining.
Have been a member of Share Adviser for nearly ten years and am very happy with the service. Over the long term, following Share Adviser's recommendations has proved a very good way of increasing my wealth.
