I bought an Explorer Pro wheelchair in Oct 2025. The wheelchair itself was good value and seemed reasonably well made. My complaint concerns customer service, which is very poor.
The wheelchair was bought mainly for overseas travel, shopping and for when we need more space in the car boot. I have a mobility scooter for everyday use.
Around Feb/Mar 2026 I noticed a small wheel missing from the wheelchair - one of 4 stabilizer wheels used to move the wheelchair when folded.
Being lackadaisical in such matters it took me a while to contact Glider Mobility for a replacement - I contacted them late June 2026. Two emails were ignored (apparently went to junk, hmmm) so I contacted them for a third time via their online contact form, with the carrot that I also wanted to order a spare battery (at £200). I got a reply then! My emails had shown photos of the missing wheel.
Apparently a replacement wheel would cost £15 + delivery (it is plastic, around 1 cm width and 5 cm diameter), but I ordered it nevertheless (and the spare battery). The wheel arrived, but without the fittings (axle/bolt and nut) required to fix it to the bracket on the wheelchair. Not much use then. I did try to get something suitable from our local hardware shop, to no avail.
I therefore contacted Glider Mobility again, asking for the appropriate nut/bolt. Email ignored, reminder sent a few days later. Eventually received a reply 4 days after that, as follows;
"The reason for the delay is because when we checked with the warehouse, they mentioned we don’t have this part as spare. We will have to take it off from a new model. Please confirm if you wish to obtain it. The cost is £15+ courier."
Note: the above reply did not give any indication of what was to come, in particular how inconvenient it would be (apparently) for them to provide this part. But read on!
I questioned this - for the replacement wheel and associated parts it was now going to cost me £30 plus two delivery costs?
This was Glider's response (sic):
"You’ve required a part which is not a regular part (news to me - see above). We’ve tried to assist you (really - assist by charging a further £15 + delivery for something covered under warranty?) which means we will have to take it off from a brand new wheelchair. In this instance it’s the last resort as this will mean we will have one less new product to sell (what??!!), so we much rather you don’t order it (indeed!!). It’s quite easy nowadays when a merchant is trying their best (??) to assist and customer is still not pleased."
I responded that we had different opinions on customer service!
Their reply was as follows (sic);
"Exactly like what you suggested- no company would take a part off a brand new wheelchair to supply to a customer. Well we are this silly company who suggested. We could easily mention to you we don’t have it or it requires to be backordered to let you wait for it. We didn’t!
You also wouldn’t know how much to order in this part. To ship just the axle and bolt, the cost of international shipping is over $40 never mind customs and duty fee etc due to the current fuel surcharge in the midst of the war. That’s why we would have to wait for the main restock.
Nevertheless, we will send it over to you as a gesture and you will just need to pay for the courier fee. And please understand we are a small UK company, surviving is not easy in this day and age."
So, the company gives a two year warranty on its products, but doesn't stock parts? Not once did it apologise for any inconvenience, or offer to supply the replacement free under warranty. Even when it very grudgingly agreed to supply the require nut and bolt, it still whined about doing so, stating "I wouldn't know how much it would cost to order the part" and that, "the cost of international shipping alone would be $40, never mind duty and VAT". Seriously, a very small nut and bolt costing a few pence individually? As it happens, as an accountant with almost 50 years experience and a client that imports motorcycle parts, including screws, nuts and bolts from many different countries, I am well aware of what the cost would be - almost nothing! The replacement wheels/nuts/bolts would simply be added to the next order of wheelchairs and the shipping costs, duty and vat would (proportionately) amount to next to nothing.
I declined their offer and will try to source the nut/bolt myself.
I would just remind at this point that I bought a wheelchair from this company from which a wheel fell off after very little use. The wheelchair was still under warranty but the company made no mention of that, nor offered any apology. It just did its utmost to avoid its obligations.
I was prepared to pay for a replacement, didn't mention warranty, doing my bit maybe to help small UK companies?
If you buy from Glider, I hope you don't hit a problem and need spare parts.

Then responded immediately with a suggestion as to what might be wrong. Thankfully the problem is resolved and we up and running again. So this is excellent customer support. Thank you.

Very good value and works well
This was the lowest priced scissor boot lift I could find. Arrived quickly, well packaged. One of the safety straps had detached from the mounting, but that must have happened at the manufacturer. It is an excellent piece of kit. Bought it to put a folding e-trike into my microcamper. Easy to operate.

Unfortunately the charger stopped working after 9 months, however Glider Mobility have been helpful in addressing this issue.

Excellent customer service
This company gave such customer service that reminds me that there still companies out there that care. I ordered a power chair from them then the following day realised that due my error I'd ordered one that was too heavy to lift in and out of the boot. I emailed them on the Aunday morning and much to my surprise got an immediate response the order was changed without a problem and I received the chair was delivered on the Tuesday. Great service and I recommend this company to anyone looking for mobility aids.

Incredible value
Incredible value, and very quick delivery. Next working day delivery promised and as we live up here in the Scottish Highlands we were expecting it to take a week. However, just as stated, we ordered on Saturday and it arrived on Tuesday. Also comparing the cost the Glider Mobility foldable scooter was 25% the cost of some others we saw. My wife tried it out and was delighted.
