The courtesy of a reply to simply say not interested in our project, would have been nice

GSM came out quite promptly within a week and reviewed my ground pump issue. The chap was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable about heat pumps.

Realisation and hindsight is that it’s easy to talk the talk…. and you should realise when a company asks you to pay for a service they are going to provide in advance, that perhaps they are not too confident they do actually know what they are doing.
If you are reading this you are probably screaming no you didn’t pay in advance, school boy error. But apparently it was their policy to take payment upfront and honestly he seemed a nice guy, plus it was a reputable local company, I see there vans around all the time in Newent and the Forest of Dean area what could go wrong … So yes I paid up front.

It then took weeks to order the part we were advise would probably solve the issue, sadly once it was installed you guessed it, this failed to fix the problem.

After extensive discussions about how to actually resolve the issue, this company GSM Renewable Energy Specialists of Newent Gloucestershire simply disappeared without a word never came back to me and never heard from them again. Absolutely baffling and quite bizarre really. Complete radio silence.

Strange way to run a business in 2025 when customers have a voice and global reach. But I guess plenty of people are switching to heat pumps and as the chap said they would much rather fit new installations than work on ones that go wrong it was more profitable.

Eventually having realised GSM Limited Newent simply were not going to return my calls or come back to me, I had to call in a larger more professional company, Hewers based in Gloucester, black and red vans, you can’t miss them, they are all over the pace. Not only can these guys talk all the same talk as others, but have the financial resource, meaning I didn’t have to pay in advance and knowledgeable people to follow through, walking the walk.

Hewers resolved my issue, it wasn’t cheap, nothing seems to be in renewable energy, but peace of mind has to come before cost sometimes… not sure where these GSM guys went, 3 months later they are not going to ring me back… are they even still in business ?

In conclusion, I have a nice new multi timer for ground source heat pumps fitted by GSM Newent that I didn’t and still don’t need, Hewers said they would remove it and throw it away, it became quite a source of amusement whilst they carried out their work. Whilst It’s no longer connected, I requested they leave it on the wall, it gives me a little smile every time I look at it … lesson learnt …perhaps for all stakeholders in this review, I tell everyone of my heat pump experience and why size does matter.
