Unfortunately it seems I’m the victim of a dodgy landlord… harassment, bullying, victimisation all round. This has lead me to being retaliatory/revenge evicted. HRD Cowes, was supposed to make my life easier by removing the need to contact the landlord, having Zoe in charge of the property (supposedly). However I never heard from her, in fact… I was actually notified via email that I was being evicted by Ananya. It then took over a week from that point to actually receive any legal documents, by that time had the wrong dates on them and needed to be done again. Throughout the whole process I kept getting the silent treatment to all of my emails requesting information or on the odd occasion an email stating “you’ll hear by the end of the day”, “you’ll hear by the end of the week”… Ananya’s favourite phrases. Alas of course I didn’t hear a thing.
In fact when I did get through to Ananya on the phone, she could only seem to retell me what was sent in her initial email. When I explained the situation and that this was retaliation etc. all she could say was “I’m sorry you feel that way”. She absolutely did not care one single bit. Long story short, I got a lot of ignored calls and emails… poorly printed documents with wrong dates and now I’m pursuing legal action against the landlord. It seems that the Cowes branch are truly living up to their reputation of terrifyingly bad communication skills and carelessness that would frighten Thanos! Honestly if you’re a renter, look elsewhere… DO NOT USE THIS ESTATE AGENTS! Save yourself a lot of pain and heartache.

There is much much more I could add to this review but I’ll leave that to your imagination… if you choose to fall down this rabbit hole regardless of my warning, I wish you good luck!

We can recommend HRD Freshwater highly. The sale of our house was complicated and protracted due to external issues. Peter and Beth were always kind, patient and understanding when all was very stressful they helped us see the light at the end of the tunnel. Always professional but clearly cared, it felt a very personal service. Not a car salesman type approach that some estate agents offer, we felt valued customers and that you do not see in an estate agent very often.

An exceptional team led by Peter with huge dedication and professionalism. Whether you are a buyer or a seller, I cannot imagine you will find better than Peter. In a difficult transaction he consistently went above and beyond. Moving house is difficult enough - my advice would be to use Hose Rhodes Dickson Freshwater.

As executor for a complex will, I have overseen the sale of three properties through HRD. The service has been outstanding throughout. In particular, they are to be commended on their outstanding communication at every stage, as well as their expertise, advice and good humour, which was certainly needed at times. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the team in Ryde.

HRD Newport Isle of Wight sales office is excellent. The staff are always friendly and helpful and their customer service is second to none, which is very rare these days. Their phones are always answered within a couple of rings and they recognise who you are immediately you say your name and can update you within minutes. I would definitely use HRD again and 100% recommend to other sellers and purchasers.

One of the worst letting agents on the Island. Didn't pass on any maintenance issues to the landlord and conveniently lost most maintenance reports I made, which left myself and my daughter without a boiler and hot water for six months over the winter. Unresponsive to pretty much all communication which they blamed on their previous staff leaving and then they blamed it on being taken over by a mainland company. Passed on my contact details to another company without my consent and knowledge and then I was hounded by said company demanding access to my home. Hounded me constantly to accept reductions to my deposit which I didn't agree with, with no replies or responses, so in order to preserve a tiny bit of my deposit and my sanity - I felt I had no choice but to give in.

Excellent local office, approachable, proactive and responsive. Move Manager left during the sale but I always felt the office staff were on top of things. Special thanks to Peter Barfoot

Our main contact was with Peter Barfoot, who kept us well informed along what was sometimes a tricky path. All arrangements for viewing, key collection and other matters were efficient and helpful.

Would not recommend this company. We have rented with them for the last 11 months however for 10 of those months we have had a leaky roof, worsening damp when we have a 2 year old with us. We have reported these numerous times and it felt like they did not care at all.
I would not rent with them again, nor would I buy/sell through them. We were passed from pillar to post and consistently met with abrupt answers that never solved the problems.
We held up our part of the bargain paying £1000 a month to them for poor service and a property unfit for a young family with a small child.
Stay clear.
