Patagonia, Argentina 2025:
Another unforgettable trip from start to finish with Insider Divers! Being in the water with Southern Right Whales in Patagonia was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The small group dynamic meant we had many amazing close-up whale interactions. The multiple additional land excursions to see elephant seals, penguins, guanacos and other regional species, in addition to an excursion on horseback through an hacienda near the coast where you could see the whales you were literally that morning in the water with breaching was unreal. Highly recommended trip! Once again Simon and his team delivers! Insider Divers is a top notch operator. Next trip with them already booked!

I went on a trip to the galapagos islands in april 2026 with insider divers, accompanied by Simon. And man, that was an experience i will never forget for the rest of my life. Even after roughly 600+ dives over the last years and diving around the planet - this was special to me. Galapagos delivered everything imagined and wished for, mother nature did their best to impress, and didn't disappoint! Hammerheads, Sealions, Whalsharks, Grey/Galapagos/Black/Whitetips, Mola Molas, Marine Iguanas... you name it.

But not only the diving was phenomenal, everything else and around was perfectly organized. From the communication prior to the trip, transfers, accountability and the guidance during the liveaboard - Simon and the insiderdivers team did a great job! Free presentations about wildlife and sharks during surface intervals to educate guests and improving skill and knowledge was a really nice add on. Last but not least the fact that Simon is a world class photographer, who took photos during the whole trip below and above the surface - edited them on the boat and uploading them for everybody to use and absolutely free of charge, that's nothing to be taken for granted!
The boat and the crew was also great, very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and with a good variety.
I can not recommend insider divers enough and i will definitely attend a trip with them in the near future!

My second trip with Insider Divers (Galapagos), and it was just as exceptional as the first (Palau.) I specifically chose to go with I.D. because I 100% trust them to only partner with great local organisations (liveboards, tours, etc) ensuring safety, ethics & professionalism. On top of that Simon and the ID crew are welcoming, friendly & fun - as are the people drawn to his trips. Nature can never be guaranteed, but they ensure we hit the right places at the right time to have the highest chance. Absolutely magical trip - seeing more than I dreamed of!

I just returned for the 2026 sperm whale expedition with Insider Divers..

This was a trip of a life time!
It was well organized from the moment we landed on the island to the moment we left.
Our transportation and accommodations were all top notch.

Ines (our multi-talented guide!) was a breath of fresh air. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and helped us every step along the way in making this the best experience possible. More than anything, you can tell she has a passion and respect for the ocean and marine life, which made having her as our guide that much better.

We were lucky to see whales on each of the 5 days of our expedition. What set insider divers apart from other charters we saw was their patient and ethical approach to our encounters. Our captain (Parnell) seemed to have a connection with the resident whale population as if they were his family.

When we weren’t on the water, Ines was able to coordinate some land based excursions for us which made for a very well rounded trip.

If I ever comeback, I can’t imagine joining any other operated or guide. Thank you all so much!

I’ve now joined three Insider Divers trips, including two incredible weeks in the Philippines in 2026 — a photo workshop at Crystal Blue Resort followed by a Visayas liveaboard experience with Atlantis Resorts aboard Infinity. After these experiences, I’m already planning to book my fourth and fifth trips for 2027, which says everything about the quality of these adventures.

Simon and the entire team go above and beyond in designing each trip to not only meet but exceed your wildest expectations. Every detail is thoughtfully planned, and throughout the two weeks, Simon was constantly working behind the scenes to elevate the experience even further, making sure everyone was having an amazing time.

These trips truly deliver bucket-list moments — from snorkeling with whale sharks to diving with threshers, and witnessing the weird and wonderful during blackwater dives. Every day brought something unforgettable.

I spent a wonderful week at Crystal Blue Resort for a photography workshop led by Simon Lorenz of Insider Divers and Tobias Friedrich. Mike Bartick (blackwater dive guru) also gave talks during the workshop. What a dream team for the participants! I came away with a head exploding with knowledge and ideas. Some of the other participants were professional-level photographers. Despite our differences in skill, we all came away better photographers.
The resort is built on a hillside, so this resort isn't for those with mobility issues. Lots of stairs! Our group loved the camera room with individual workstations, ample charging stations, and easy access to the dive center. The dive center was run very efficiently, with dive groups given areas to hang gear, rinse, and air-dry their cameras and get ready to dive. Showers and toilets are located at the dive center level, though warm water would have been nice. Nitrox was analyzed each morning and afternoon efficiently by the dive staff, tank fills were plentiful, and camera rigs were taken aboard by the boat crew. Getting onto the 'bancas' (dive boats) could have been tricky, as the boarding is via a simple board with wooden pegs. I was always helped by one or two boat guides and never had an issue. Our underwater guides worked to ensure we all had a chance to shoot whatever was found, while keeping us safe. What a joy to dive with!
The food at the resort was good and plentiful, with offerings of meat, seafood, and vegetables, served with rice and/or other starches at lunch and dinner. Breakfast featured an "egg" station where you could order whatever you liked. The desserts were yummy. Our room was nice (I shared with another photographer) and was made up nicely each day. There was an area outside the room with a line to hang things to dry, a bar located just off the camera room, and the lobby features a shop stocked with items you forgot to buy from Backscatter at the same prices.
We generally did 2 dives after breakfast, 1 dive after lunch, and either 1 or 2 blackwater dives. One was allowed only 4 dives maximum, so after lunch, I mostly chose 1 dive and 1 blackwater dive. One day, I skipped the afternoon dive and did a double blackwater. Sandwiched in between all of this were the presentations (up to 3 a day!). Of course, one had to manage changing camera batteries, getting files off the memory cards, problem-solving while jet-lagged, and such -- the days were busy and full!
I really enjoyed diving in Anilao and would definitely consider staying and diving at Crystal Blue Resort again. The staff there is fantastic, and they all work SO HARD!!! I had a 5-star time. I've trusted Insider Divers on many trips - great diving, wonderful people, and Simon really takes care to ensure the group is happy. I'm already signed up for more!

I wore a 7 mil because I was told the water would be colder, and in the end, I was glad I did. Long dives and little movement in the water equal a cold diver! We had a bit of weather in the area, so we were stuck on the "inside" dive sites, as the currents were too strong elsewhere. I would like to go back to Anilao and experience it again so I can get a better comparison with Lembeh.

We joined the Dominica trip in 2026. We had incredible sperm whale encounters for 5 out of 5 days! It was an out of body experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Insider Divers did a great job with planning and coordination of the trip, so we didnt have to worry about anything. We appreciated that they’ve been to Dominica before and had clearly identified the best tour guide, restaurants, and hotel based on their experience.

A special shout out to our guide Ines! She is super experienced and makes everyone feel very safe. She always has a positive attitude, helped everyone with equipment, and did everything possible to make sure we had a great time. She’s also an expert on whales and provided multiple interactive presentations to help us learn about the behavior we were seeing (and answered lots of questions in real time on the boat!)

I recently joined the Insider Divers sperm whale expedition in Dominica, and it exceeded every expectation. Swimming with these gentle giants is a humbling, surreal experience that I’ll never forget.

What sets Insider Divers apart is their professional and ethical approach. Simon, Ines, Annabelle, and the team are incredibly knowledgeable, ensuring we interacted with the whales respectfully and on their terms. The small group size meant plenty of time in the water without feeling crowded. Between the drops, the educational presentations on whale behavior and the photography tips were a huge bonus. The accommodation, activities and transfers were flawless. If you’re looking for a well-organized, world-class marine encounter, I can’t recommend this trip enough!

Working in the diving and service industry for the past 16 years, experiencing a trip and never once thinking to myself "this could be done better" is a rare occurrence. Yet, it is exactly how I feel about my trips with ID (Norway and Dominica).
From Simon's patience to answering so many questions (not all of them related to the trips), to Annabelle's highly organized and informative emails, to the amazing guides, most recently Ines in Dominica.
The trips run smoothly and Simon makes sure the best local crew gets hired. Our Dominica skipper Pernell was absolutely amazing, so knowledgeable about finding the whales and providing the best encounters possible. Leaving whales when things got too crowded and finding us our own whales elsewhere.
After swimming with humpbacks in Tonga, I was skeptical of how excited I would be about these less interactive whales, but it was fabulous in a whole new way.
Last but definitely not least, Ines was absolutely incredible. The images she got us, the tour she helped organize, her words of guidance for the perfect encounter, her excitement at the whole thing. So many experienced dive/water professionals are jaded after years in the industry, but Ines made every day feel as exciting as the next.
Organized, informative, respective of the animals. They are the whole package and I'd rate 10 out of 5 if I could.

Inside Divers Exceeds Expectations
The trip to French Polynesia diving was my first experience with Inside Divers. I am totally impressed with this organization. The diving experiences were first class, superb dive sites with a myriad of outstanding life and terrain. On this particular trip we experienced the Wall of Sharks several times (amazing) Manta Rays literally at inches away, fascinating current dives where we soared over the reefs and among large schools of several different species of fish, and some of the best live corals I have seen in years.

The dive planning was expert. We were also taught improved diving techniques. I have been diving since 1974, but Simon gave me some techniques that improved my breathing and bottom time, contradicting prior advice and actually working!

Another special feature of a trip with Inside Divers, are the educational presentations, teaching us about the life we were seeing on the dive sites and making the dives even more interesting.

Finally, our tour guide, Simon, is a superb underwater photographer and videographer and he willingly works to take photos that really capture the experience and show us on our dives, then shares all this with us as a perk of the trip.

In conclusion, if you want a truely expert diving experience, book with Inside Divers!

Fakarava and the nighttime 700 Sharks of Fakarava dives ranks as one of the top three dive sites for me. This was the first time Insider Divers did the trip, and it was excellent. Simon, as usual, works his Simon-magic when things don't go as planned. We ran into some unforeseen situations that led to us almost not being able to do the nighttime 700 sharks dive, which was the sole purpose several of us did the extension. As he normally does, whether he's on the trip or working from afar, he worked things out and we were able to do the dive. I have been impressed with every one of my trips with Insider Divers and will be doing as many of the trips as I can. Whether SCUBA diving, snorkeling, or free diving, Insider Divers provides some of the most unique, most exciting, and off-the-beaten path trips one can imagine. I've done four trips with Insider Divers, am booked on two more, and plan to do several more. Without a doubt, recommend Insider Divers and Simon's crew!

Simon and the Insider Divers team provide exceptional concierge service from the time your plane touches down until you (sadly) have to return to reality. I had the pleasure of experiencing the Cocos 2025 trip. It exceeded all expectations. Everything you imagine to see we saw- schooling hammers, mantas, dolphins darting in and out of bait balls, a tiger shark and even a whale shark. This was a trip of a lifetime. Thank you!

The Timor Leste Expedition 2025 was a mindboggling beautiful experience. It‘s a dream come true to swim with bluewhales. Thank you Simon, Aaron, Evan, Des, Marco and the whole crew for making this possible. I had encounters of a life time.

This was an exciting trip to Norway, to swim with Orcas and Humpbacks. Exceeded all expectations, despite the frigid water. Highly recommend the stellar crew of the MV Freya, our brilliant tour manager, and amazing guides. This itinerary is a unique and once in a lifetime experience, that I would highly recommend (and do again!).

Thank you Simon and team for another brilliant ocean adventure! Very grateful for precious moments in the water with humpbacks in Mo’orea - as per the standard I am now accustomed to: everything was organised implacably from start to finish and never have any concerns about any aspect of the trip not being attended to. One of the many reasons I keep coming back for more!

It was also lovely to catch up with fellow travellers from former trips - I’ve travelled solo and with friends and always a joy to spend time with likeminded strangers, who walk away as friends at the end.

We had an incredible trip to Cocos! Everything was perfectly organized and Simon made sure we had a great time. We didn't have to worry about anything other than enjoying ourselves. The boat, crew and all the Insider Divers team were amazing. And the group was fantastic! We also had the opportunity to learn about sharks and uwphoto. It was our first trip with Insider Divers but won't be the last for sure.

The Tonga Humpback Whale trip was absolutely phenomenal and magical! Ines and Insider Divers made this experience wonderful, worry free and safe! They are extremely well organized down to the last detail so that you can arrive and simply enjoy the beautiful nature that you came to see. I especially loved that the team works with ethical skippers/team and respects the whales and their habitat. I highly recommend Insider Divers for an unforgettable ocean life experience!
