I had an absolutely incredible trip with Insider Divers in Tonga. To be able to spend time up close with humpback whales, learn about them, and share the experience with such a great group of people was truly unforgettable.

The whole trip was very well organised, I was always kept informed about all the important details, which made everything stress-free. I chose Insider Divers because I wanted to travel with an ethical company, and I was not disappointed.

Our guide Iness did an amazing job ensuring that our interactions with the whales were both respectful and safe. Her expertise as an award-winning wildlife photographer was an added bonus, and she was not only a fantastic guide but also a wonderful person to spend time with. Special thanks also go to Masi, our boat captain, and Johnny, who tirelessly spotted whales for us. Together with Iness, they made sure we had the best possible encounters in the water.

The accommodation with Tony and Petra was another highlight - a beautiful location, spotlessly clean, and with the warm, welcoming feeling of staying with family.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would wholeheartedly recommend Insider Divers to anyone considering this trip.

This was by far the most extraordinary trip of my life. Its a dream to swim with whales and it was even better than I thought. There was so much action! I had a fabulous trip with Insider Divers Humpback Whale swimming in Tonga. Multiple whale sightings and swims everyday. Highly ethical systems that consider the whale interactions. Ines the guide was a wealth of information and incredibly organised.

Insider Divers offers a fantastic diving experience. I took my first trip with them to Cocos island to see the hammerheads this past month. The group of divers were positive, experienced and fun. Simon led us in a well run trip with a liveaboard that had the best crew I’ve experienced. I learned a lot about sharks, gained more confidence in diving, and felt respected and a part of an amazing group of divers.I will always be looking for ways to dive with this group of Insider Divers!

The workshop was amazing and super beginner-friendly.

Lembeh 2025 was my first-ever underwater photography workshop, and honestly, my first photography workshop in general. I had a rough idea about camera settings but never really had to think hard and put that knowledge to use.

In short, I went into the trip pretty nervous, not about the diving part but the photography part. I thought I wouldn't get any shots that I'd consider nice. However...fast forward to the end of the trip/week, I won Most Creative!

Breaking the trip down, the first 2 days/nights had workshops that catered more to beginners and acted as refreshers for some. This really helped set the stage for the rest of the week for me; everyone was so friendly and willing to help. I had some issues with my strobe light (also first time using) where the photos turned black; it was frustrating that after a few dives I still got like doo doo shots but luckily the instructors and other divers were so quick to jump in for the rescue.

The workshops taught me so much about lighting and angling, which I was able to put into practice on following dives. I personally really like the live editing sessions because you get to see how different instructors go through their thought process, the tools they prefer, and style they like. There are no right or wrong answers so it was fun taking what was shown and trying it out myself every night. Picked up good photo habits too (ie: load it up every night to do some quick clean up instead of cleaning it all at one go - also helps me remember what i did/saw each dive; 3-4 dives a day everyday ... time tends to warp).

In addition, the local dive guides were just amazing! Everyone are skilled photographers and you would think communicating underwater would be tough but boy did they make it so easy to understand too. Point point (at setting) - move up move down - :ok_hand: - take the picture lol it was great.

I looked forward to all the workshops and dives everyday. My later struggle was focusing on tiny subjects with my compact (Sony Rx 100-1) - at first I thought maybe its because my set up is so old lol there's not enough 'juice' to get the quality stuff but lord and behold as the instructors would remind me, "it's not the camera, its the person behind the camera".

When I finally got my first clear subject (pygmy seahorse), I was so proud I had to show everyone haha even though everyone had the same subject and maybe even cooler shots (some played with effects).

Simon and crew had cool gadgets that I was able to later play with like making bokeh bubbles with dish sponges, filter lens, snoot torches and backdrops. I have to say my favorite combo that my guide and I used towards the end was the torch light + dish sponge. Putting all that I learned throughout the week, we took these gadgets and later found a little octopus who posed for me and with some edits (skill also learned in the workshop) I was able to receive the Most Creative award! Surprised and shocked but also proved so much that you can level up so much in just one week if you put your mind to it (even when starting at absolutely zero). account just to start posting some shots I got in this trip - so proud - they had to go somewhere.

I cannot speak highly enough of Inside Divers. I went on their Humpback Whale trip to Tonga and it was absolutely sensational! The planning, organisation and communication was faultless. Their team is fantastic and so accommodating.

The trip was nothing short of awe-inspiring. We had 5 days of phenomenal whale interactions thanks to the expertise of our brilliant skipper, guide, and expedition leader; there is no doubt they are the best team on the island!

To share the waters with such magnificent giants was such an immense privilege, especially when the mums would trust you around their curious calves! We had close in-water encounters during a heat run, with mothers and calves, and listened to many songs which echoed through the water. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. It was great to see how the whole team respected the whales and could read them perfectly to know when an in-water drop was possible and when to admire from afar.

A special thank you to our epic expedition leader Ines whose passion and enthusiasm for the whales and the ocean made the trip even more special, magical and fun! And to top it all off her photography is out of this world incredible!! I really cannot thank you enough for making this trip the most life-changing adventure ever!!!

F A B U L O U S experience all around,
I did a 1-week trip in the waters around Palau February 2025 on the Black Pearl. Matt Boyle was our primary guide. The ship was “Four Seasons” first class. The food and service incredible. Staterooms were beyond spacious.

The diving (of course) was some of the best you’ll find on planet earth. Matt Boyle is an absolute expert on the marine biomass and also provided fascinating presentations (3) on WWII Pacific theatre history. Matt is a brilliant and passionate professional - can’t say enough about his acumen and positivity with us all.

Insider Divers is a first class operation providing superlative experiences in all the “bucket list” destinations.

What an incredible trip with Insider Divers in Norway! From start to finish, everything was just perfect. Simon and his team (shoutout to Jenny) were great with all the pre-trip info and planning, making sure we knew exactly what to expect.

The ship, Freya, was fantastic - super cozy and warm inside, with comfortable rooms and good showers. The crew were so friendly and easy to chat with, which made the whole experience even better. Having a hot tub and sauna on the ship was perfect for warming up after being in the water. Such a nice touch!

Big shoutout to Jesse, the chef, who cooked up amazing meals with great vegetarian options. There was always lots of food and the team would happily prepare anything additional as needed (like freshly whipped cream for hot chocolate :) )

The whale swimming itself was absolutely magical. The team provided excellent wetsuits that kept us surprisingly warm in the Norwegian waters. We got lucky with beautiful weather and saw some incredible things, including this amazing bait ball under a double rainbow on our last day! We even got to see the Northern Lights several times.

Insider Divers partnered with Hey Orca for this trip, and they were fantastic. Their team really knew their stuff and were super respectful of the marine life. They explained everything clearly and made sure we all felt comfortable and safe.

If you're thinking about doing a whale swimming trip in Norway, I can't recommend Insider Divers enough. They've got the perfect mix of being professional while keeping things fun and relaxed. This was truly an unforgettable experience!

The Galapagos. Bucket list destination.
So many fears, trepidation but a desire so I signed up with Simon Lorenz and Insider divers. Right from jump Simon helped me figure out airfare and it began .
I met up with the dive group In Quito and joined an offered land excursion. So much to see in this incredible place, many questions and unknown answers.
My nervousness faded as I was introduced to the group and off we went. Simon really vets his people and what a mix of unique interesting humans.
We got to San Cristobal and The hotel was eco diver-cool huge rooms with a great locale and we got a couple dives in. It was so helpful to get all weighted as I was using more neoprene than normal .
We had a naturalist meet us and took us around the island to meet the locals, sea lions pelicans and the likes. After a couple of days exploring the town and seeing the tortoises, it was an interesting historical day and after grabbing grub and mingling and getting to know one another with a full belly and a good nights sleep off we went to join the Humboldt explorer. Here we gooooooo!
A few of us had nerves as you know the famous heavy current, rocky weather and difficult diving. Well night before we disembarked in town I fell. I hurt my hand and back and broke a couple toes while walking down the street oh noo !!! Great how am I going to get on and off and on a zodiac?? hike Rocky terrain ?? Omg I’m benched and I was forlorn. Simon was a coach and reassured me that I can do this.
it took about a day to ditch the fear demon and get into the trip, get on the boat and on board with my inner champion . For real.
Simon had us all set up by the dive crew. Our main Dm did the briefing with nautilus devices briefed and the promise we will keep you safe and we will show you things to blow your mind. Simon smiled as he knew what was in store for us .

They were there every soaked inch as they helped getting wet suits off and on holding my hair up and pulling booties off and on, they are zipping us up and another is hanging up wetsuits and prepping gear while we were given delicious juices, hot teas cocoa and snacks as you pant with the excitement. This crew is top notch over seen by the leader Simon. He was in control of so many things that pop up on trips and handled them like a pro. He took notice of my pain and discomfort of my newly broken toes, I can’t go i guess to see the birds, I tearfully said and I was crestfallen, what no your not missing out and arranged for me to have a crew member lean on him and use a walking stick so I could join the rest of our group and all the land tours. What a gift as this was as fun as the diving. The naturalists that showed us around Wolf and Darwin shared the history of The famous biologist and shared their passion of this beautiful place I can’t describe seeing baby albatross and Blue footed Boobies ( haha) and penguins and it was a dream. Im Inside the pages of National Geographic .
A highlight was the marine iguana dive, the baby godzillas zipping by munching on algae right beside you, the hammerheads were graceful powerful shark and the majesty of the whale sharks, the dolphins. It goes on and on, welcome to the the IMAX experience they touted !
When the soul is being ignited by the gift of wonderment it truly makes an imprint on you.
This trip is full with so many layers,..
Land and sea .
Simon gave presentations of sharks and photography and island back ground and lent his expertise to all divers. His intensive knowledge of diving and tips helped me to be a better diver. I checked my ego at the door and listened.
As an award winning photographer Simon freelyshared his wisdom and I saw one young photographers eyes light up as he helped her “ get the shot “. This was pretty cool to see.
As we sailed through this incredible country on land and on water I felt every inch safe and well taken cared for in every way.
So many concerns but I showed up & I opened up & I marveled.
Simon is a fantastic leader who sets the tone of the trip and allows you to have your space, he encouraged me to try and get out there and I Did it . One day I wanted to nap and he said ok have a nice snooze but we’ll probably see a whale shark ( they did !) we laughed a lot,dove a ton, soaked up mojo and magic of the Galapagos for the trip of a lifetime .
So strap on your backpack and your hiking shoes and your fins for one of the best experiences of your life. I came home with sand in my suitcase, alpaca hair on my clothes, a Grand canyon wide smile and a twinkle in my heart from visiting and experiencing the best sail vacation and experience one could ask for. Thank you insider divers and Simon for it all.

Went on a Galapagos liveaboard with Insider divers from 21-28 October 2024. The diving was incredible and the crew on board were fantastic. Service was exceptional and Simon gave us very useful tips for diving and underwater photography throughout the week. His shark and Marine biology talks in between dives were fascinating. Highly recommend for divers of all levels and am looking forward to my next trip with Insider divers.

I am a dive shop owner and industry professional from San Diego and I recently joined a Liveaboard excursion to the Galapagos with Insider Divers. The trip surpassed my expectations in every way and I can’t wait to plan more trips with this company. Highly suggest.

Our guide leader Simon did a wonderful job, and took great care to ensure the quality of everyone’s experience was top notch. He added a LOT of extra value on this trip with some incredible presentations and providing some amazing photos of everyone with the wildlife we encountered.

The staff worked tirelessly and made the dives much easier for the guests, everyone was fed well, and had a positive attitude at all times.

I came not really knowing anyone or what to expect, and feel I made some genuine life long friends on this trip and became so much more knowledgeable about diving photography and also the indemic wildlife to the Galapagos.

Personal favorite was the marine iguana dive and a dive where we had countless hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, but most impressively; an enormous pregnant whale shark!!

I went on a 1-week liveaboard diving trip to Galapagos with Insider Divers, in October 2024. It was an incredible experience, and the trip was organized to perfection. I had amazing dives and a great atmosphere on the boat. The diving felt very safe and under control, and the people I met on the trip were amazing.
Otherwise the staff was perfect, food excellent, we had a few activities other than diving that brought just the right balance to the trip. Really a 5 star experience.

Wow, what an amazing adventure! I had the opportunity to visit the Maldives with Insider Divers in 2024, and let me tell you, Simon was absolutely fantastic! He took care of nearly every detail for us. All I had to do was book my flight to the meet-up, and once we joined the group, Simon managed everything else so smoothly.

We kicked off our journey on a liveaboard for the first week aboard Blue Force One, where we encountered whale sharks, nurse sharks, reef sharks, experienced Manta cleaning stations and even had a night dive with Mantas. After that, we flew out to explore both the North and South, where we had the most incredible wildlife encounters—think mantas, tiger sharks, and even a thresher shark! Simon connected us with Liquid Salt Divers to dive with the Mantas, and they were truly a top-notch crew.

Oh, and don’t worry if you don’t have a camera—Simon and his team take professional photos of all the adventures, so you can totally get in on the fun with some photo bombs! When you get back, he’ll send you a link in just a couple of weeks to access and download any pictures that catch your eye.

Honestly, it was a trip of a lifetime. Simon made sure we were in the perfect spots to see everything we had dreamed about. He promised an unforgettable experience, and boy, did he deliver! Overall, this adventure was truly remarkable, thanks to Simon’s dedication to making sure we saw it all.

Bucket list trip to Tonga trip with Simon & Insider Divers. Traveled with my husband, and another couple. The travel was long and difficult but the trip was fabulous. Each days started off with a wonderful breakfast and we headed out to see the whales. We experienced many different kinds of encounters: two mature females, solo males (singers), and the highlight - mother and calf. If I could cry happy tears while soaking wet, I would have! Just a phenomenal experience. Included in the trip were Simon’s excellent presentations about whales, which were informative and interesting. The group size was small and the group all had a great time getting to know each other. Simon sees to all the trip details, including giving us all amazing shots of us in the water with the whales. Simon leads great trips and I will definitely be booking other trips with Insider Divers!!! What a joy to know Simon & his creative talents!!!

Just amazing. The liveaboard in the central atolls offered amazing dive highlights (Mantas day and night, turtles, rays, sharks, whaleshark, vibrant reef life). The extensions in Hanifaru (magical Manta madness) and Fuvamulah (tiger sharks) offered great to additions. Organization, trip lead during the tour and the photos and videos after were splendid as always with Insider Divers.

Back to back trips to Bali and Komodo gave us a real taste of what Insider Divers can offer to the adventure diver as well as a developing underwater photographer! We took a photography workshop in Bali at the stunning Alam Batu Beach Bungalow Resort for the first week. Then we went on for another week to dive around Komodo National Park aboard the spectacular Amira liveaboard. Insider Divers provided everything we needed to enjoy the rich experiences and opportunities to learn, explore, and make new friends.

You really can’t go wrong planning a trip with Insider Divers! Simon is keen to meet the needs of his clients and provide an exceptional experience for everyone. From his choice of venues to providing excellent instruction and advice, Simon is thoughtful and careful to do his best to provide top-notch service.
