I had a lot of problems with chargers

I had a lot of problems with chargers, but never with Instavolt. Always quick and easy to charge the car. Easy acceible and very easy to use. Im recommending Instavolt.

The app never works for me to take…

The app never works for me to take advantage of the cheaper rates between 8pm and 7pm. This is the third time of trying to use the app. Out of frustration I have to use my card to pay the full balance.

Reliable and rapid. Always one available, not far off route. Available for all EVs with just a bank card. Good deals for app or RFID users. Speedy repairs to broken charging points.

Bought my car on the Saturday and used…

Bought my car on the Saturday and used this first on the Sunday. Rapid charging for 10 mins cost £10 which added 35 miles. Great for a quick fix plus easy to use!

They changed off-peak pricing again…

They changed off-peak pricing again without prior warning. Of course up. EXCLUSIVE app price 0.89/kWh is truly "exclusive". Charging speed is very disappointing and absolute darkness at charging stations (need to use phones flashlight to connect cable. Horrible company.

We completely understand how disappointing this must have been, especially when charging in darker conditions.

Due to the continued rise in energy and supply costs, we have made the difficult decision to increase our prices to £0.89 per kWh (standard) and £0.60 per kWh during off-peak hours (8pm–7am). We understand that price increases are never welcome, we’ve done our best to minimise the impact and remain committed to offering great value. We will always continue to review costs closely, and whenever it is possible to pass savings back to our customers, we will do so.

Your feedback regarding lighting and charging performance has been passed to our Operations team for review, as we’re always looking to improve the safety and reliability of our network.

Yet again had trouble with your…

Yet again had trouble with your instavolt charger at McDonald's. I spend more time trying to start the charging than the actual time it takes to charge my ev. Gave up today after 20 mins, went to mfg charger no problems and cheaper

Spent over £33 charging at the pavilion square, scarborough chargers only to be hit with a £100 parking fine, absolute daylight robbery!

Thank you for your review, we are sorry to hear that you’ve received a parking fine whilst using our chargers at Pavilion Square

Unfortunately, the parking restrictions are managed by a 3rd party, which means that the existing parking restrictions still apply to customers even when using our charging stations. Our signage in between the chargers states that existing parking restrictions still apply, and this is also outlined on the app. There should also be signage installed by the car park operators that details the specific restrictions.

Having said this, we appreciate the inconvenience caused by this fine and can create a proof of charge document that you can use to help with your appeal. If you would like us to provide this for you please can you provide the time, date and cost of your charging session, and a copy of the fine if possible to info@instavolt.co.uk.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your payment query. 

When you initiate a charge via a card, a pre-authorisation fee of £15.00 or £45.00 (depending on the charger model) will be reserved on your card. This will be taken each time you tap your card to try to start a charge and is intended to validate the payment card and ensure that sufficient funds exist to complete a transaction. Depending on who you bank with you may see these as pending transactions or they will appear to have been taken from your account. 

If the charge was successful, the pre-authorisation amount will be cancelled and replaced with the actual amount you were charged for the electricity received. If your charge was unsuccessful, the amount will be returned automatically. All pre-authorisation amounts are released automatically by InstaVolt; depending on who you bank with, it may take 5-10 working days (or sooner) to reflect this.

If you use our chargers regularly and would like to work around the pre-authorisation fees, you could download our app and use it to start a charging session. As your payment card is already authenticated on the app, no pre-authorisation fees get taken when you charge via this method.

£20 to change my card?

Until now I've always found it easy (if a bit expensive) to charge with Instavolt using the app. Now, though, my card has expired, and for some reason Instavolt wants to charge me £20 to change my card. I guess I'd get this back when I charge again, but there's no guarantee I'll be using their chargers again. So that's goodbye to the Instavolt app from me.

In response to your reply: There is absolutely no need to debit £20 from the linked bank account to verify a payment card. That's just ludicrous and frankly a bit scammy. Your chargers are fine and work well, as does your app, so I don't understand why you'd want to engage in such petty money grabbing. It's really disappointing behaviour.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your payment query.  

Please note, that when you add a payment card to a credit account on the app, £20.00 is taken from your linked bank account to validate your payment card. If you haven’t used the account to charge in over a month, you’ll need to re-validate the card by authorising a £1.00 transaction.

Validation amounts are then added to your app account balance and will be automatically put towards the cost of your charging session, or you can withdraw them back to your bank account by going into ‘payment’ and then ‘Withdraw Funds’.
