I have tried 3 times to get a member

I have tried two times to get a member. First time the request was decliened within two minutes (13.07.25) . Looks like a robot is reviewing the requests.
After second request rejection (15.97.25) I wrote to info(at)internations(dot)org and received help. Finally the 3rd request was accepted. All information I provided before where true and complet. I'm concerned now to recommend my friends to join as well and make the same experience.

Signed for trial but never used

Signed for trial but never used. After the trial without any notice I was charged for a year's subscription fee. Tried to contact to get a refund but they wouldn't accept my refund request.

Internations Madrid: ¿evento social o negocio disfrazado?

Lo que antes era una oportunidad para conectar expatriados con Madrid, hoy se siente más como una fórmula repetitiva: entradas cada vez más caras, bebidas mediocres y cero picoteo. Los organizadores parecen centrarse más en las ganancias que en la experiencia, mientras que muchos asistentes solo buscan ligar.

Afortunadamente, la ciudad ofrece mejores alternativas. Cocorico, Diviértete Mitad y otros eventos demuestran que sí es posible combinar calidad con precios justos.

Internations sigue ahí, pero cada vez más desolador. Para quienes prefieren pagar más por menos, sigue siendo una opción. Para los demás, es hora de buscar nuevos horizontes.

Thankful for the Rejection

I've lived abroad for ~30 years, and I'm in the process of moving to yet another country, so I have been looking for a new online expat community to match. A friend suggested InterNations, so I applied.

Much to my surprise, my application was rejected (possibly because I did not provide my full name, date of birth and city of birth, but I take my privacy seriously). Out of curiosity, I did an online search which led me here to InterNations' Trustpilot page.

Well, after reading the numerous negative reviews about this company (and their uniformly patronizing responses), I'm now much less disappointed!

Customer service solved the issue.

Changing my neagtive review to a positive one. After a unwanted invoice issue the company were very kind and solved the issue. Very much appreciated! Thank you kindly. I would suggest that customers would receive a heads up before the trial month is over so that they can chose to cancel their membership if they don't want a premium membership.

As far as I’m aware, I signed up for basic on this platform. I never used it. Thought about albatross, but, didn’t want to pay the stupid fee. Stayed with basic, still didn’t use it. None of the events were near me to travel to. Next thing I know, I got an email last week telling me that “unfortunately they were unable to charge my card for the Albatross membership”. I deleted my account, wrote them an email and told them to stop asking for payment, zero response. I checked my email today, and there it is, a “reminder” to pay my account. I’m really confused because I’m pretty certain I didn’t sign up for the “elite” membership as I didn’t want to pay the fee. Internations seem to have no ethics with regards to their practices with payments, sending “reminder” emails with a hint of threat. No.

Alligevel siger jeg tak for svaret fra jer.

Alligevel siger jeg tak til Internations for deres fint svar angående min første henvendelse. Så der er 14 dags fortrydelse ret. Jeg var bare ikke opmærksom på, at jeg havde meldt mig selv ind i den aktiv del af Internations. Det er fint nok.
Hvordan kan jeg så bruge den mulighed for self at tilbude aktiviteter til medlemmer i AArhus Danmark.
2. Badning i havn i solen sant vandet, fælleskab, evt grill bagefter ved Tangkroen. Også vinterbadning.
Kareoke aften i Sherlock Holmes, Frederiksgade. Jeg vil gerne stå for disse muligheder.
Simple "Radiant Heart" chigong/ bowspiring kan også deles barfod/kørestol på græset i min have, AArhus N. eller også ved Tangkroen. Jeg er uddanet fysiotepeut og diakon blandt andet.
Jeg er vandt til at dele disse slags events allerede med andre expats samt danskere.

Unethical Billing Practices—Beware!

Clearly, I’m not the first person to get scammed by InterNations. They charge $19.95 for a platform that offers nothing more than what’s freely available on social media.
I misremembered my free period, and as soon as I saw their charge, I immediately requested a cancellation and refund. Not only did they refuse, but they continued billing me for two more months—charges I didn’t notice right away due to traveling.
I’m beyond frustrated with companies that exploit customers through deceptive billing and a total lack of integrity. If you're considering InterNations, proceed with caution.

If you don't cancel your subscription in time they will cancel your account but still threaten you with a collection agency. SCAM.

People should be aware of the implications of dealing with an unethical conpany. In my case, my credit card was replaced and they couldn't charge next year's renewal fee, so they immediately suspended my membership yet they are still threatening me with a collection company when no services whatsoever have been rendered! It's like if you don't pay your Netflix subscription, Netflix cancel your account, and takes you to court for the future year of not-viewing... And of course, you can't even access your account page.
A very unethical behavior, disgraceful. A scam.
EDIT: Below, Internations deny that they block access to the account. Well, this is the pasted content of the notice you see if you try to access your account, followed by the "Enter your card details" link.
Pity I can't post an screenshot. Just to show how dishonest they are:
"Payment for your Albatross Membership was due on 13 February 2025, but we were unable to process the charge. You have been notified both on the InterNations website and by email that this payment is overdue, and your account is now frozen until your subscription fees have been paid.

To get your account back and avoid further legal action, please settle this charge immediately — we reserve the right to transfer the claim to a debt collection agency if this bill remains unpaid."

Unacceptable and Dishonest Practices – Stay Away

Internations deliberately makes it extremely difficult to cancel a Premium membership or impossible...
There is no clear cancellation option. They falsely redirect users to manage the cancellation via Apple, even when no Apple subscription exists.
I wasted over 30 minutes trying to cancel, and my subscription is still active — meaning I will now have to take further steps to block future charges myself.

This behavior is a clear example of unfair and deceptive business practices, intentionally creating barriers to cancellation and wasting customers’ time.
It reflects a lack of transparency, dishonesty, and disrespect for consumer rights.

Stay away from this platform unless you want to be trapped into ongoing payments you never consented to.

Real scammers.

Real scammers.
This company ripped me off with their Albatross membership which got renewed and I asked immediately to cancel it and their "customer service" answered me two weeks later in order to buy time so that I get charged for another billing cycle. I feel pity for this company. I do not recommend it at all!
