No idea how busy till you get there
Only just joined as I'm thinking of changing from my current gym. I went the other day and it's a nice gym, and nicely laid out. but it's now 6:17pm on a Saturday and I'm trying to drag myself to the gym but I won't be going to JD... why? because I know there are 40 people in other gym but I have no idea how many are in JD... is it 20 or 200? One simple thing that every gym with electonic entry should have - and most do apart from JD... is a live tracker of how many people are in there.
The app itself isn't great but I could live with that, unfortunately not being able to track how busy it is, is probably enough for me to not make the change.

Hello Luke! Thanks for leaving us some feedback, we appreciate it.
We are a 24-hour gym in Preston, but due to there being less staff on duty throughout the night, areas which are not covered by CCTV are closed for the safety of our members (i.e. the main changing rooms and saunas).
We do however leave the accessible changing room open at all times, as well as there being lockers for you to use. If you need to get changed or grab a shower during the night, that option is there for you and you'll have complete privacy in there.
Hope this helps explain.
If you have any specific equipment requests for Preston, plese do not hesitate in letting the management team know, so they can get it on their Christmas wish list! The JD Gyms Team 💚

Access denied
Very disappointed that the only way into the Gym is via a mobile phone app.
I waited patiently outside until someone got a member of staff. I asked if I could use the key pad to gain access and he said no disabled only.
He did offer to help me cancel my membership but no offer of refund for the month I have just purchased on line.
When I mentioned that on a previous membership I used the key pad he said out of my control its this way across all gyms.
No where in the joining instructions online did I see that unless I had access to a mobile phone then I couldn't enter the gym. Personally I feel like someone has just come up and robbed me of £25.

I would give the whole process of…
I would give the whole process of signing up a 4-star rating, it was pretty laid back and not too exhaustive. The guy was super helpful, showed us around. When I started the next day, I couldn't find any sanitary wipes to wipe the equipment after use. I've seen people getting all wet on the equipment, so it's a good idea to have some wipes available. This is my top recommendation to the management. Besides that, everything was fine.

It is great to hear that you found the joining process nice and easy (stress free), we like to leave all the hard work for the gym floor💪
With regards to cleaning, we do have our team going around the gym keeping on top of cleaning regularly, but if you think there is something they've missed please do feel free to email the Manager on preston@jdgyms.co.uk
We have method statements for the team to follow for the cleaning of our equipment. Ensuring it is cleaned thoroughly without damaging it and keeping everything in action for the Preston members to use. As well as advising that our members train with a towel to wipe down equipment after use.

The layout of the gym is amazing, the staff are very professional and friendly, I like the fact the gym is also 24/7 as I suffer with insomnia. has 2 boxing bags.

1 there is a one way system no one uses it including staff
2 people on earmuffs sing there head off
3 setting up cameras to video them self taking up all the space
4 people now skipping next to gym kit they are using you now have to walk round them

Unfortunately we cannot control people forgetting they are in a gym and not on The X Factor. If it is disturbing you though, you can contact a member of the Preston team for them to have a quiet word with them.
In terms of the amateur film makers, please advise one of our management team if you see this as it is a safety concern.

Some brilliant some unprofessional tutors
Yoga tutor is brilliant, very professional and knowledgeable. But some tutors repeatedly turn up late then finish early. If they always cannot start classes at specified times on the timetable, then they should either change the timetable itself or find other tutors to cover sessions. Also, Studio classes that I like tend to be quite late, so I cannot do.

A credible company so expected great facilities. The facilities are brilliant: clean, spacious and a decent variety. The staff are also warm, friendly and incredibly helpful. My only quarm are the punch bags in the women's only area as I would like to use these (unless I am mistaken in their location).
