The eSIM worked in Japan so that’s the only reason for the one star. I have been fighting your support team for nearly a month and a half now to get a refund that was promised to me. Long story short, I accidentally bought the 30 day plan, reached out to them and they agreed to make the exception and refund me the plan if I bought the 15 day plan. So at this point I had 2 plans purchased. Fast forward to today, and I’ve yet to receive my refund for the 30 day plan.

All I can say was we were 50 metres below ground, half way crossing the Kanmon Strait between Kyushu and Honshu, and we had perfect 4G reception with great speeds. I can't even get that kinda mobile reception at home. Am definitely buying JJ eSIM again.

Without a doubt the best eSIM I’ve ever used, travelling all across Tokyo and beyond it’s always fast and I’ve never had signal loss, even in the metro. It might seem a bit expensive but worth every penny, it’s truly unlimited too with no throttling.

Big fan of Chris and wanted to support him - the esim did not let me down. Between Tokyo, Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto, the connection performed admirably. I bought the unlimited 15-day and never experienced any throttling during my trip. One word of wisdom to folks reading this review - add your esim before you get on the plane so you can easily toggle it on when you land. You'll be connected from the jump.

Got the new expensive 5G ublimited subscription, and I was inpressed, not only did I had great speeds, kften surpassing local wifi in a hotel, but the signal was stable even in random mointan vilages and middle of nowhere parking spots. The signal vas even stable in a ahinkansen, which is impresive as I am use to lose conectivity even on a normal train.

Its procey, but probably one of the best Japan SIM experiences I had. Just wish they would sell a phisical version for folks without eSIM support.

Just did a 18 day trip to Japan, the e-sim worked great, no complaints. It was an easy process to activate on my phone and had great service throughout the entire trip!

I was in Japan for 28 days and found the 20GB plan was plenty for that time - I used it constantly for navigation, browsing, uploading to social media and sporadic Youtube streaming. Set up was easy and intuitive. But what really impressed me was the customer service support - I had a connectivity issue on my last day and despite it being well into a Friday evening, I had a friendly response to my email within 5 minutes with simple trouble-shooting instructions. My internet was back on instantly and I had no further trouble. Will absolutely be using this eSim for all Japan travel moving forward - 10/10

I just spent a month in Japan, this eSIM worked perfectly everywhere! Kurashiki, Osaka, Nara, Amanohashidate, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Tokyo and Yokohama. No connection issues, fast and reliable.

Purchased the SIM before our trip last year as we are long-time Abroad fans, so figured it was probably not junk. We travelled around Japan for 3 weeks - Osaka, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Kanazawa - and after turning it on I basically never thought about my connection again, it was just always there and working wherever we were, no different than back in the States. That's my highest praise - I spent my trip enjoying Japan and having data when I needed it, not focused on SIM cards. We're going back in the fall and I'll buy another one this time too, no question.

Recently used it on my 3 week long trip to Japan and it was stellar! The setup was easy peasy. Connection was sublimely steady throughout the whole trip. Only spotty in typical areas like an elevator or a train tunnel sometimes. Other than that I had no problems at all! Speed was fast and did not throttle at any point. My go to for my next Japan trip!

Unfortunately, I can’t evaluate the performance of the eSIM because it simply didn’t work. The customer service team, while very friendly, was a bit slow and unfortunately couldn’t help me. Neither the eSIM I purchased nor the replacement eSIM provided by customer service after 8 days without internet could be installed on my Google Pixel 6. To be fair, the purchase amount was refunded, but the exact cause of the issue could not be determined. An eSIM from another provider worked right away.

Used it in January this year in Hokkaido, Tokyo and Kyoto and it worked great. Easy to install, had good connection everywhere, recommend!

Travelled all around Japan for 3 weeks with this esim and it worked perfectly! From Tokyo to rural Wakayama to Hokkaido, I had an internet connection. Made travelling around seamless and easy!

I've used Journey Japan eSIM twice now, in 2025, and it worked wonderfully both times. The coverage truly does seem endless, allowing you to use it anywhere. It worked on trains, underground, in stations and restaurants, and it's quite easy to set up. The instructions are clear, the service is great, and I won't be using any other eSIM provider for my Japan data needs. Top pick.

I had no issues during my trip to Tokyo, Ebina, Yokohama, Shizuoka, and Miyazaki Areas.

I went to Japan in September 2025 and tried the Journey Japan eSIM on a whim, and partially because my friend, a viewer of AbroadinJapan, told me about it. The JJeSIM was great! Easy to use, fast, and had great connectivity. I even had data in "middle-ish of nowhere" Ishigaki (Okinawa). Throughout my trip from Tokyo down to Ishigaki, connectivity was never an issue. I will definitely be using this again for future trips, would highly recommend. Thank you for providing an excellent product.

Bought the unlimited data package, but I’m getting unstable internet even with full coverage. Laggy GPS and hard to communicate with voice on messenger. I’m not recommending this to anyone!

Coverage was miles above anyone else! My girlfriend used an alternative cheapo option as she had patchy reception and no reception in several places on our trip last October. The JJESIM was a game changer, not once did I ever think about reception or wifi which allows me to enjoy my trip hassle free, setup was easy and was done within a minute of landing.

I ended up hotspotting her on several occasions and found the speed to be better and more reliable than my home phone plan in Australia! On a trip from Tokyo around Fuji by car I hadn't lost reception once! (until I went in a cave)

I cannot recommend them enough and I'm about to buy another one for my upcoming trip in May 🙏
