When we were looking to purchase a car, the garage was extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The service was excellent right up until we completed the purchase.
However, after just 4 weeks and 4 days of owning the car, we started experiencing serious issues. We contacted the garage, but were told they couldn't look at the vehicle for around three weeks. We explained that this was far too long to wait and asked whether we should stop driving the car in case the problem worsened. We were told to continue driving it and to contact them if anything changed.
A couple of days later, the car completely broke down. When we contacted the garage again, they initially expected us to arrange and pay for recovery to their premises, despite the car being under warranty and having been owned for only a short time. The AA quoted £260 for recovery. The garage refused to assist until we sent an email outlining our consumer rights and requesting a refund. The following day, they suddenly agreed to collect the car and did so promptly.
Unfortunately, communication after that was very poor. We repeatedly had to chase for updates and were given conflicting information. At first, we were told it was a quick fix, then later informed it was a head gasket issue. Days and weeks passed with little progress and no proactive communication from the garage. We explained that we were struggling without a vehicle, relying on taxis and having plans that required transport, but this seemed to make little difference.
My husband even visited the garage in person to try and get answers. He asked to speak directly with the mechanic but was refused. Eventually, we were told the repair would be completed by the end of the week, but that deadline came and went with no car and no resolution.
At that point, we formally requested a refund under the Consumer Rights Act. The garage initially argued that they were entitled to one opportunity to repair the vehicle. We responded that they had already been given a reasonable amount of time and had failed to complete the repair. After further discussions and the mention of seeking legal advice, they eventually agreed to refund us.
Even then, the process was unnecessarily difficult. We were told no refund could be issued until paperwork was returned, so we had to drive to the garage ourselves to hand it over. We were then informed that the finance team were not working that day and the refund could not be processed. Before leaving, we insisted on written confirmation that they had received all the paperwork and took photographs as evidence. Ironically, while we were driving home, the refund was processed despite being told that the finance team were unavailable.
It's disappointing because our experience started so positively. The sales service was excellent, but once problems arose with the vehicle, the after-sales support, communication, and handling of the situation were extremely poor. Based on our experience, I would be very cautious about purchasing from this garage again. The car we purchased was Vauxhall safira tourer purchased by a james sarginson

Went for a look and found a refreshingly honest and helpful gent who for a car sales man was a breath of fresh air. Gavin listened to what I wanted (and being female I was specific 🙄) I looked at various cars and decided to enquire about two that I liked. After a honest discussion I applied for the finance which was so simple and clarity throughout the process then I had my new car three days later new MOT, serviced and valeted. Can't thank Gavin enough for his absolute honesty and helpfulness throughout the whole process. What an absolute genuine bloke.

Bought a car some time ago, and on collection day was told it’s not available, as Gavin wasn’t available, despite agreements to collect, the owner was very rude and angry , disappointed with the service and even told me the car I test drove had a steering fault . Not forthcoming with the truth, and even broke data protection laws by contacting my employer , who despite what you believe , nothing happened , too long in the job with friends, you just kept on going … have a rethink how YOU actually spoke and dealt with it all .
Quite the story teller when it suits you and I’m fine, just had a quiet day and saw another bad review again , I’ll delete the review once you’ve had chance to see it , but you do like to exaggerate and
Make things up after one phone call with a very shouty rude man at your end who Gavin apologised for . Hope that he has had his anger management issues sorted .., and here you are mocking mental health, once again highlighting exactly what it’s like trying to reason with an unreasonable person !! May well be in the market for a car soon , do you know anyone decent ??
