Sheep for wool, lots of water and bracken for making potash used in the cleaning of wool, made the manufacture of woolen cloth easy and profitable. The town’s coat of arms feature ‘wool hooks and teasels’ alongside the Latin: ‘Panus Mihi Panus’, ‘Cloth is my Bread.’ A major trade in the town was the: ’Shearman Dyer’. From as early as the 1500’s Kendal was involved in the nationwide trade of cloth. In 1575 Elizabeth 1st granted Kendal a ‘Market Charter’ which was a little like a licence to print money. Kendal thrived and Kendal cloth sold far and wide. KENDAL GREEN AND PROUD Because of the botanically diverse nature of the Lake District, plant-based dyes were easily sourced from the fells and valleys. Kendal cloth was first submerged in ‘wode’ which was blue. It was then bathed in a yellow dye made from a small Leguminous shrub called ‘Genista Tinctoria’. This then infused with the blue Wode to produce a subtle shade of green. This colour became famous as ‘Kendal Green’. You will still find it today on Dulux colour charts! WHAT ABOUT THE ARCHER? William Shakespeare, the Bard, wrote of Kendal’s famous cloth in ‘Henry IV’ part 1. Falstaff boasts to Prince Hal of his defeat of ‘three misbegotten knaves in Kendal Green’. It is even thought that Robin Hood and his merry men would have worn the Kendal green cloth, not Lincoln green. So with this, our brand colour became ‘Kendal Green.’ 25th October 1415, St. Crispens Day was a pivotal day in England’s history. Henry V led his troops into Battle at Agincourt in Northern France. Heavily outnumbered by French troops it was the English bowmen that won the day. In particular, credit was given to the long bows of the ‘Kendalian Archers’, dressed in their ’Kendal Green’ tunics. Sells itself
To me the product sells itself , tastes great and does the job. I’ve been using their products for over 4 years now. I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and what I particularly like is unlike other similar products I have never had any stomach issues. I admit I don’t use them on every ride I do , but on the long endurance rides these are the go to products. My only gripe if you can call it that is I wish that they could come up with a drink tab or container to take refills of the ISO powder out whilst on long rides. Small zip bags work but have limited reusability.
KMC definitely the best on the market in my humble opinion

when I messed up on my order the customer service team were brilliant and fixed it for me (I’d managed to place the same order twice)
They also swapped the size of my fabulous hoodie after I’d ordered it before they posted it!

The products are brilliant
The products are brilliant, the new flavours on the gels are amazing particularly the Raspberry! I also love the variety of products they offer in there bars.
The fact they are really pushing sustainability is a massive factor as to why I by from them.
I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Terrible service
We have used lots of different gels for events and training and came across these guys at an event. We placed an order on their website, excited to try some new flavours.
Similar to the reviewer below our order was delayed so we got in contact with the Kendal Mint Co. With no phone number on the website we used the chat function. After a 4 hour long difficult chat experience with the business owner disconnecting and missing messages we gave up.
The business owner’s customer service consisted of initially ignoring our chat messages, blaming us for the delay, telling us to check social media posts for news and then finally denying there was any delay at all! All this even though the predicted delivery on the email showed a week ago.
All in all not a great experience from the co-founder of this company. So I think I’ll go back to SIS gels and actual Mintcake bars from the original Romney’s Kendal Mintcake company. My local shop sell both and their customer service is 100% better than the owner of the business!
Disappointed.

Sorry to see you felt the need to leave this review. Our business was closed for a week whilst we gave our team a much deserved break for one week.
I'd like to clarify, notifications were made not only by social, but by email, on every product page where estimated delivery times were extended, and at checkout, plus follow up emails and reminders on socials.
Unfortunately, our new web store provided one incorrect estimated delivery date after the fact.
I am confident we did everything we could to make all customers aware of this, and I'm disappointed we were left with one unhappy customer. Sorry.

Delicious energy source
I am always on the look out for new energy products and as I have an upcoming ultra marathon I was looking for an additional energy source to add to my collection.
Kendal mint cake ticks all the boxes and more. It tastes delicious, the mint is just right and leaves a lovely lingering taste in your mouth, you feel refreshed, the individual squares dissolve quickly in your mouth without the need for water and you get a slight saltiness so you know you are replenishing your electrolytes too.
I am so glad I came across this product and have been raving about it to all my fellow running friends.

Game changers for runners with sensitive stomachs
I’ve always struggled to find anything I can eat that doesn’t disagree with me on longer runs. These are brilliant - the peppermint works wonders because it’s so easy to digest. They taste lovely. I’ve got the chocolate mint gels too. Definitely recommend.

5 days late poor experience

Customer service wasn’t helpful. Very disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend. Awaiting my refund.

Hi Kathryn, really sorry to hear it didn’t get there in time for your DofE.
However, I’m afraid your order was placed on the 29th of May (Bank holiday Monday) and dispatched on the 31st. Royal Mail attempted to delivery on the Saturday but nobody was in. Unfortunately, any delays after this were caused by Royal Mail likely due to a backlog over the extended bank holidays.
In this particular situation and If you ever have any problems in the future, please come directly to us rather than going straight to a review. More than likely we will refund or offer a return to rectify this.
