An appalling bulk waste collection service. We paid the money and have been constantly let down by non collection. Four phone calls ( each well over forty minutes long ). It now has been a week, with blocked access to our home. Nothing has been delivered by Royal mail due to the mattress constantly falling over.
Have now been transferred to the complaint department. So far 50 minutes and still waiting. Next time it would be easier to dump the items on the pavement!
DEFINITELY ZERO STARS.
14/8/24 Now 9 days, 4 phone calls and 2 emails. Still not collected.
16/8/24 Now 11 days, 5 phone calls and 3 emails. Still not collected.
19/8/24.;Now 14 days. Still no collection. Woeful.

The contact number on their sent out post threading legal action just rings and rings and rings and rings and rings !!! Nobody answers the phone. Instead you just hear recorded messages how great it is in Lambeth and how they don’t tolerate abuse on the phone! They don’t realise what frustrations they are actually responsible for . This experience has been repeated on different occasions and on different days .

Awful, abysmal council.
As others have noted the complaints department is frankly not fit for purpose and must employ half wits.
My complaint was the conduct of a member of staff abusing Lambeth council time making what some would regard as libellous comments about senior figures in the Labour party.
Despite substantial evidence provided, reply deadlines to my case missed and reminders ignored a investigation report that was frankly pathetic will points made missed and evidence provided simply ignored.
In response i requested a stage two review of the case and informed "Taz" would be conducting a "thorough" review.
This though review of all the evidence and documentation took.... two and a half days in total from 'Taz' being on leave for over a week and a half ....coming back for Three days before being on leave again for over three weeks.
His final review acknowledged a "misunderstanding" that my substantial evidence to support my case was "misunderstood" as evidence supporting the person complained about.
What a bunch of moronic clowns! As if a member of the public would make a complaint and then provide evidence against their own complaint.
Finally the excuse was wheeled out of 'confidentiality' and it wasnt in the complaints department remit to take action on HR issues.
A council of delay delay, ignore hoping anyone making a complaint gives up and when pursued for answers resort to excuses it's not their responsibility.
The whole lot of them Skyers, Choudary, Pearson etc etc should be sacked for total incompetence
As a independent investigation held by the local government ombudsman found Lambeth council complaints department arent fit for purpose yet the shambles is allowed to continue

I wish I could put no stars, a bunch of useless…..they don’t help with anything and lie through their teeth. They don’t do their jobs properly and are completely lazy in anything they do. They will see you starve and also see you with stuff because they feel they control. I hate them

3 stars for the staff who do their work as best as they can. Minus 2 stars for the little means they seem to dispose of to help. My water supply was suddenly cut off and the Lambeth housing repair staff passed it on emergency repair. After a week it is now repaired. First we had an emergency plumber on Friday night who seemed to be so loaded with work that he arrived at ours at nearly midnight. The causes of the issue needed more time to be found and fixed. Then on Monday a private repair company working for Lambeth was subcontracting the job to come and find out where the issue was. It took us a few calls during the week to make sure the issue gets fixed as on Monday evening we still had no water. The company finally came back on Friday to fix it. So not the fastest response indeed. The staff needs to be given more means to bring faster response to people's very basic needs like water supply. Thankfully I have noone under my roof who needs care as it would have been a real struggle for showers, loo and laundry.

Lambeths service is appalling , having been complaining about anti social,violent , drug addicted neighbours for 4 years, nothing has been done, it’s like being on a merry go round ,each department redirects you on .No one is dedicated to address my complaints, waste of tax payers funds.

I came yesterday spend lovely day with my Autistic son on London Eye.
I am carer of disabled child and my day was very difficult.
Instead spent a great day I was fined 100£ for cigarette!!
That’s ridiculous price!!FPN officer was rude, overweight, sweating , couldn’t provide in calm way all sytuation, his device didn’t work and he couldn’t do nothing with that. He was like toddler with iPhone.
He stressed me and my child and my son had later after his rude attitude long metldown!
Our day was ruined!!
I felt robbed of my many.
He was so pride of him self that he fined mother with child!
I guest he never been at Brixton or clapham where is so many litters!!’
He is just able attack a tourist !
Shame of You Lambeth Counsil !!

4 th place in London with stabbing and stealing phones, people are not safe there and tourists are robbing in during day per FPN officers with out any proper attitude, proper training and manners.
Avoid area because other wise you will leave Lambeth borough with out any money.
Rudeness off staff is extremely high- you can’t feel welcome there or safe !!!!

I feel for the people of Lambeth having this council looking after them. Absolutely shocking council who simply ignore genuine complaints and instead protects and covers up, for example, the behaviour of lazy members of staff who get paid extremely well to do nothing all day but post on social media instead.
No wonder councils are going bankrupt.
But then when serious question marks hang over the people at the Top and their
behaviour, it is little surprise that lower ranked staff members treat this place like a holiday camp.
A Chief executive on £185k a year charged with Drug and driving offences,
1.5 million pounds of ratepayers money being used to refund for gagging leaseholders
Covering up a child sexual abuse scandal with the Met police
Under investigation for its complaints handling last year which has had no
impact because it is currently just as bad if not worse at dealing with complaints.
Clearly with the list of serious problems this council has , staff skiving and getting paid to do so is not serious to those who run this council. And elected councillors don't give a damn. They have just been relected to sit on their backside for 4/5 years and themselves get paid well to do very little.
This council laughs at the ombudsman, uses 'confidentiality ' as the default to avoid answering serious questions asked and adopt a 'nothing to see here ,move on' attitude to avoid accountability and simply wastes ratepayers money. How the people of Lambeth accept this ,is beyond me.
Judging by other complaints on this site ,this council needs to be taking into special measures by Keir Starmer and Labour and I would urge everyone to contact Angeal Rayner with your views and concerns.
It is seriously worrying just how badly rum this council is and the bottom of the barrel dregs it employs.
It is truly shocking that nothing has been done about this council before but hopefully, with pressure, things will change.
To think we have people desperate for work when you look at certain members of staff who are well paid and do nothing all day but moan on social media when they are paid to work. One person in paticular ,Kevin, clearly moans about how bad Labour are and his comments are clearly based on his personal experiences working for this dysfunctional and inept council. Do look up @KEdge23 on X and make up your own views. But please do go back for some considerable time to get a fuller picture. If not posting his views he reposts others and all during the working day. Council do nothing about it. Shocking when ratepayers are struggling as a result of the party he supports the Conservatives. Hopefully he has been warned and his activities now stopped. Residents have a right to answers

TI was born in 1971....and since a child growing up I have always remembered Lambeth as being pretty useless. To this day their useless. They offered a council tax tax refund and they cant even manage to process that without having to be prompted as to why they are taking so long. Lambeth's leader was recently charged by the Police for drug and driving charges. Tells you everything about the shambles of people chosen to lead the council and some of the people working there.

Do not care about their elderly tenants.
My mum is 90 had a benefit letter and cannot fill it in on line. I tried to do it for her and her no number dose not work. Called them and was told she will have to go to age concern. They do not send forms out. OMG how frustrating that have no Empathy and couldn’t care less. She will probably lose her benefit because ther is no help

Not a local but please read the BBC report on leaseholders charged for non-existent or shoddy work by contractors. Maybe why this council gets such grief from tenants? Needs an independent enquiry as to why contractors can get away with overcharging the Council who then pass on these apparently-inflated costs to tenants?

Lambeth Housing does bad business. I'm a tenant and I don't have the energy to tell the full story of the poor housing I've lived in so I'll just say ASBO neighbours and estate cleaners, disrepair moved into more disrepair, only way I could get to move out quicker at the start was to downsize causing me to have to remove my children off the tenancy 1 by 1. They don't care about your mental, emotional and physical health or if you work and pay your rent on time all the time. I lost my job due to pulling my back getting up off an old mattress that my husband and I had to sleep on in the lounge as the bedroom became uninhabitable due to mould and damp while my new mattress had to stay covered which my husband brought due to me having upper spine issues which now became lower spine issues too thanks to them. They don't acknowledge their wrong doings, they breach their own contract time and time again. They run a bad business, why? Because people actually buy their flats with their big money on leasehold which means they have to pay towards any building costs and oh my doesn't lambeth have a load....disrepair all over the borough. Lambeth Council needs to care, they need to admit they bit off more than they could chew, sell off some of thei estates, keep the amount they can fully maintain (making sure properties are soundproofed and passive vented also) and keep it that way and only if they have the full extra funds to meet the needs of owning another estate then they can buy another. It should be a crime what Lambeth Council do, sometimes I want to call the police on them to be arrested but they can't be. There needs to be a new law for landlords who mistreat their tenants to the point of causing them poor health, mental health and sometimes even to commit sucide....imagine, they must know tenants who have committed suicide and they kept it quiet...undercover serial killers. I really hope the law does something about these ruthless councils who play with peoples lives like it's funny and a game, ruining peoples life when they're meant to be helping to improve and make life more easier. I can't wait to one day leave this borough! You don't live by your solgan Lambeth Council, you don't care about building no comminity, you're corrupt!

Can I give zero stars? Lambeth council is the worst. I’ve lived under different boroughs and this council is profit driven and don’t care about its citizens. The most harebrained idea is collecting our black bins once every 2 weeks. Now my street looks like a third world country with rubbish bins full and neighbours are having altercations with each other for putting their rubbish in other’s bins. Not to mention that there are several estates on my area where people do not care about the stink and leave their bins open so that foxes and rats run through the bins. And now it’s summer, the stink is so foul I vomit everytime I go past a few of these bins.
Just fed up and think this is greedy council at its worst, trying to cut cost and disguising it as a pro-eco move.

“Feedback on Lambeth Council: A Tale of Two Extremes”

Dear Lambeth Council,

I moved to Lambeth from Camden last October 2023, following a traumatic health experience, hoping to rebuild my life. Little did I know, I was about to embark on a journey of unwanted stress, courtesy of the "Worst Council in the Land."

While awaiting my return to work, I signed up for universal credit and was advised to seek council tax support. I received a letter informing me that I was not entitled to any reduction for some reason. Fine, I thought. But little did I know, this was the start of a slow-motion car crash drama.

I fell behind on my payments, which prompted a series of threatening letters with court cases and all that jazz. I made the payment only to realize there seems to be a scheme designed to squeeze every penny out of residents' pockets. Despite my payment, I was summoned to court, though I've never failed to pay council tax before. And bear in mind, Lambeth is incredibly filthy—I'm living next to a dump where fly-tipping is the norm.

This brings me to my main point. I called the council on 22/5/2024 and was connected to a call centre representative, Elaine (or Hell-en, as I now think of her). She was so unpleasant that I cringed. Despite me informing her that I had already made payments, she insisted I needed to pay an additional £109. On the same day, I received a "14 Day Notice of Further Action" letter stating that on 18 March 2024, Croydon Magistrates' Court granted a liability order against me for non-payment of council tax totaling £343.19, plus £143 in costs. Even after speaking to Elaine again, I had to endure her nonsense.

In stark contrast, I visited the civic center and was met by the black queen herself, Jacky. She was outstanding, making me feel extremely welcome and providing all the necessary help. She was incredibly supportive, and thanks to her, I will clear this bill and set up a clear monthly installment plan. A massive thumbs up to Jacky at the reception—she restored a bit of my faith in humanity.

In conclusion, Lambeth Council’s call centres seem to be filled with incompetent wind-up merchants, a waste of taxpayers' money. But at least there's a silver lining at the civic centre, thanks to Jacky. I will be posting this on Trustpilot to let others know about the rollercoaster that is dealing with Lambeth Council.

Housing repairs for council tenants is a lottery. Some get there repairs done some don't. Rudeness from staff and a lack of care and attention. Your lucky if you get any repairs done.
Items dumped on street corners such as furniture and washing machines.

Lambeth Council are a disgrace. Official complaints constantly reported. Been chasing six months now for monthly invoices care package from Care services via Lambeth Council. Social worker since October 2023 failed to setup, totally incompetent service, always. Another Social Worker now dealing and STILL waiting! Staff never return calls to ansa messages or texts. USELESS!!! Buck gets passed on, half-jobs, Lambeth subcontract and don't manage. Another example, they renovate houses and leave them vacant for three years. No one checks anything.

Found myself in a carefully constructed maze just southside of Streatham High street, i was trying to deliver a package and when i attempted to get back on Streatham high St i was confronted with prohibition signs denying access to roads that my sat nav was directing me to, have been blocked 4 / 5 times by these prohibition signs i was running out of time to find a way out of this trap, so i drove through the signs to get to the road that i needed to be on, at this point i want to say that firstly there was no traffic around and the prohibition signs made no sense at all i can only conclude that this is a money making exercise, the signs are utterly ridiculous a prohibition on certain types of vehicles !!!!! I have never come across these signs before they are in the middle of a residential area
as i see it they are there to bamboozle drivers who stray into the zone and then hit them with a PCN a nasty little council plan obviously a Labour idea BEING STREATHAM IS lABOUR RUN BOOOOOOOO !

Despite the bathroom being done under my disrepair claim, the council has failed to send an inspector to see that the works have been completed properly. At no fault of Wayne the contractor who did the decorations my bathroom ceiling started showing the same cracks/ Peeling that it has been doing for years. I have spent money privately on decorating the bathroom ceiling, and the council have plastered sections of the ceiling a couple of times for the same issue to occur. How can a freshly decorated bathroom ceiling start unravelling in a matter of days? The entire ceiling must be throughly plastered as this is a structural issue otherwise this will continue to occur. ( Date of decoration February 2024)

Truly evil and demonic Borough

Lambeth Council introduced new restrictions for cars travelling on their roads, without sufficient clear signage to let motorists know. The claim is this is to "improve" things for people, but the real reason is to generate extra revenue for their budgets. I requested leniency given that I was only driving as a favour, to transport two disabled people to an appointment, but no leniency was offered. The punitive financial cost for a minor infraction lasting seconds, that harmed nobody and caused absolutely no problems at all, mean that I will no longer be willing to help people with transport if it means having to drive through Lambeth. I will also travel there less, and do business there less, as they are more interested in extracting money from people than they are in understanding human situations.
