Worst customer service and products

Worst customer service and products!

Ordered a new dvr when the original one went out. Like clockwork, they only last 1 year. The “new”one showed up and ultimately was “defected”. After wasting about 30 minutes with customer service I ended up returning and throwing all my lorex equipment away. Doesn’t even deserve to be recycled. The wires are cheaply made and produce a low quality picture. Lorex doesn’t have any technician employees to install their camera systems. They expect the home owners to do it which, is completely ridiculous. Hands down the worst security company in existence with the highest prices! Total rip off…I called a local company, they came out and installed a new system for a reasonable price. Night and day difference. Stores that carry lorex such as Amazon and Home Depot should immediately terminate their contracts and throw all the Lorex products in the garbage.

One of my 4K cameras has wifi…

One of my 4K cameras has wifi connectivity issues. It is constantly dropping. Wifi is close so there should not be a problem. But there is. The other 3 wifi cameras maintain connectivity even though they are further from the wifi, to the app but not my NDR. Overall I am disappointed that I chose this manufacturer.

We are done with Lorex customer…

We are done with Lorex customer service. What a joke this company is for home security and professional support. Customer service is untrained, follows a process that took us now 2.5 hours on a warranty replacement for a doorbell camera. We are still on the phone as I type this review. Useless questions to solve the issue to get a replacement camera that will not power up. I have never spoken to a customer service department that is so circular and appears unwilling to solve your problem with inexperienced comical questions. Who has a three hour replacement under warranty process to replace a doorbell. Do NOT buy from Lorex. You will regret you did. Ps. Three hours and received approval to replace under warranty my 4k door bell camera. Even though they do not sell the camera (why?) and only the 2k cameras now makes me believe there are problems with this short lived product. I spent the extra money for the 4k. Second, we did not use the chime that came with the camera because we receive an alert via our phone when someone came to the door. I was told that the camera malfunctioned because it was not connected to the chime. No where in the IFU ( instructions) did it say it must be connected yet my camera worked fine for 11 months. Yet, I had an electrician verify I had 16 volts coming in from the mini transformer and also indicated connecting the chime was not necessary. I am expecting a 4k refurbished replacement and would not be allowed a 2k camera replacement even though they were discontinued. I am expecting this camera won’t last either pushing me outside my warranty when this one fails.

Unreliable System and Unacceptable Support

We are a large business, and our experience with Lorex has been extremely disappointing.

Their support is not professional and does not meet basic expectations for a company selling security systems. There is no proper follow-up process, no accountability, and no clear communication. Support tickets are not handled in a timely manner, and in many cases, there is no follow-up at all — even after multiple attempts to get assistance.

For a company in this industry, the lack of a structured support team is unacceptable. When issues arise, especially with security equipment, businesses need reliable and responsive support. Unfortunately, that is not what Lorex provides.

Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Lorex for any business use.

Absolutely terrible product

Absolutely terrible product. I purchased this NVR system in December 2020, and within less than 5 years, it completely stopped working. This is unacceptable for something that is supposed to protect your home and provide reliable security.

This system is a complete waste of money. The quality is poor, the durability is a joke, and clearly, it’s not built to last. When you invest in a security system, you expect it to perform when it matters most—not fail and leave you frustrated.

Save yourself the headache, stress, and regret. Do NOT buy this system. It might work for a short time, but sooner or later, it will let you down—and you’ll end up wasting your hard-earned money just like I did.

DO NOT BUY THE SUPPORT IS UTTER S**T

So after trying for several months now to get hold of customer support when I finally did the line was really bad glitchy and very delayed. Apparently this was my fault it was my phone nothing to do with the fact the uk support number goes to the other side of the world. Very unhelpful and still haven’t got the problem sorted.

I have a new Lorex camera

I have a new Lorex camera. It was up 6 months. The nigh vision stop working. After removing the camera. I found out it was full of water. I pulled the camera apart and it was full of water. Also noticed it had 3 moister packs in the camera. I could not believe it. So I guess Lorex antisap that the camera would leak. Hum!

I purchased a 8 camera and 3TB NVR from…

I purchased a 8 camera and 3TB NVR from Lorex along with a 2 year Extended warranty in May 2022.
I called Lorex because one of my 8 camera’s failed and technical support stated I needed a new camera. They told me that I had to pay 100 US dollars for a replacement.
I told sales that the failed camera was less than 4 years old and I needed Lorex to give me a better price than 100 dollars , they quoted me a cheaper camera for 89 dollars , but it would be lower quality .
I was upset with Lorex because I was expecting a longer life on the cameras.
Sales stayed that their price was firm and if I wasn’t happy I could post my review.
I told I would definitely post my review , along with pulling out their system and going with a company that takes care of their customers who buy their products

Très déçu par mon expérience avec cette entreprise. Malgré un investissement de plus de 1000$, le système manque cruellement de fiabilité. Mes demandes d'amélioration répétées sont restées sans réponse, et l'absence totale de mise à jour du micrologiciel (firmware) depuis plus d'un an soulève de graves inquiétudes quant à la sécurité du produit. À éviter.

Don't buy. App is complete SHITE

Had i reviewed this shite product ahead of time i would've never purchased. Half the time when i go to open app and see live view it says 'uh oh somethings wrong' Yeah...app is shit. I click on HD and it reverts back to SD. I tried reloading app, useless. This equipment is barely 3 months old.

Camera failed just after 18 months

Camera failed just after 18 months. Called customer service tech support. Rep had me go through several steps to ensure it was connected and powered just tell me that it was out of warranty. Why all the steps?
I am very displeased that 1 of my 4 cameras has failed just after 18 months. Does this mean that the other 3 will fail soon as well? I have =RING cameras at another property for nearly 10 years now and they all still function well. I figured Lorex was supposed to be better RING and gave it a try. Well, Lorex is apparently not better.
I hope that Lorex can provide better support and replace my 18 month old camera.
Please train your tech support reps better.

BUYER BEWARE

BUYER BEWARE! Gutted, purchased direct from Lorex.com the NVR fusion 4K plus 2 bullet cameras A14s (the cameras didn’t have any stickers on to show any details so unable to register under warranty). Although just finding out the warranty is worthless even if registered! Purchased on 30/11/2025 only just able to try to install as was Christmas present, NVR came with two pin plug so contacted tech support, tried an adapter, cameras not working, sent to customer support for correct power cable to be sent and nothing, no response from either of their support contact us outlets I tried many times but to no avail. Not sure where to go from here as out of the return 30 day period. Do not touch this company if you actually want a product to work or to have any sort of support if it doesn’t work. Ghosted comes to mind!

Great product terrible return policy

Great product terrible return policy. We purchased ahead of time on Nov 2nd to have these installed in December when signed on the home. Decemeber 17th we noticed we had to many cameras/ wiring. I started a return for the unopen items and they will not take them as a return since its past 30 day. Not restocking fee options or anything. Writing this review so others are aware.

Extremely Disappointing Performance and Customer Support

My Lorex NVR 4K security system has been extremely unreliable. It regularly fails to detect people and vehicle movement on my driveway, both at night and now even during daylight hours. These faults are ongoing and unresolved, despite the system still being under warranty until 30 December 2025.

I have contacted Lorex numerous times via the app and support channels and have attempted to raise a formal complaint with no success. Most messages go unanswered, and the one support intervention I received did not fix the issues. Reporting faults has now become a daily occurrence.

Support for UK customers is particularly poor. I have been unable to reach a UK-based representative and am repeatedly asked to call expensive overseas numbers, which is unreasonable.

I have requested a replacement under warranty or a refund if a replacement is not available, but customer support has not responded (again).

I would appreciate Lorex finally acknowledging this review and contacting me to resolve these issues.

I ordered an indoor camera directly from Lorex, it arrived fairly quickly and looked smart. I followed the instructions and linked the camera to the app, but the set up would not complete. After exiting the set up process to start again all I received was a message saying the camera was already linked to my email. Nothing would reset the camera and there was no way to show the camera even though it was supposedly linked. I called the service line multiple times and it just hangs up on you. I contacted the sales chat on the website, who wouldn't help me just kept giving me the 'helpline' which hangs and an international number. They were quick to send me a return and refund link. They obviously know there is a big big issue with their products.

I’ve had a frustrating experience with…

I’ve had a frustrating experience with Lorex’s Pan-Tilt 2K WiFi camera. The camera frequently stops recording its 24-hour footage indefinitely until I manually reboot it. This issue has worsened over time, now happening every few days, which means I have to check the camera each morning and reboot it if it’s stopped recording.

On my first call to support, one representative claimed the SD card was full, not realizing that the camera’s looping feature manages storage automatically. On the second call, they want me to do internet connection test. However, on the third call, the support representative insisted that any internet disconnect would cause the camera to stop recording indefinitely until rebooted. This was confusing because the camera stores footage locally on the SD card and shouldn’t depend on internet stability for local recording. Yet the tech support blames :
1)upload is only 24-25 Mbps( this is standard upload speed for NYC households)
2) your WiFi is not direct source. I use a WiFi 6 router connected the modem thru Ethernet cable. And seem is not direct, it may cause my camera stop recording indefinitely.
3) you internet may not be stable, it will cause your camera stop saving footage in your local SD cards.

Additionally, I was disappointed by the overall quality of the technical support. It felt like the support staff lacked basic knowledge about how the camera works, which was surprising and frustrating.

I feel the tech support team is try their to blame the fault on other things. My guess the excuse they will use is the air quality in NYC cause the cameras stop recoding.
