LPA PROTECT, had a vision of setting up an organisation offering a quality Lasting Power of Attorney Service to clients experiencing hardship as a result of caring for family members with declining health. Registering LPAs is crucial, but should not be expensive particularly as many people are already struggling to pay care costs for relatives. The danger is many people will delay organising the implementation of an LPA. They are unaware that without one, the potential complexities can be devastating. Having had to deal with the affairs of a loved one who become suddenly unwell, and being unable to act for them, people recognise the importance of having an LPA in place. Its has become clear many family members do not have control when dealing with their loved ones’ health and financial matters. Financial Companies and Health and Welfare Services, bound by mental capacity and data protection legislation, are often unable to act on the instructions of a family member without an LPA in place. If a person then loses mental capacity, an application to the Court of Protection to become a Deputy would have to be made. This is an extremely lengthy and costly process, which would need to be paid for by friends or family until funds can be released. And of course, this can be avoided by registering an LPA. LPA PROTECT strongly believe that the costs are fair and are at a level that most people in the vast majority of cases will be able to afford.

What a stressful procedure

Re Office of the Public Guardian

What a stressful procedure. I applied online for a health LPA last November and paid by credit card. I printed the forms and posted them. Last week I received a letter asking for payment of £82 before the application could be processed and I have until Jan 24 to pay.
I sent an email to customer services copied to LPA email address to query this attaching a copy of my credit card statement as proof. No response.
The 0300 456 0300 number keeps cutting me off so today I sent an email to complain.
I'd like confirmation that the application will go ahead without further delay but it's proving impossible to get an answer.

Firstly I would like to empathise with you for the experience you have received, sadly this was not with us, It looks as though you have reviewed the wrong place.

There are three reasons to suggest,
Firstly we have received NO emails from anybody complaining with any reference to a name of Deb, Deborah, Debbie etc.

Secondly our clients receive the documents already printed they do not have to print them

Thirdly the number you have quoted is not our number, this number belongs to the Office of the Public Guardian

You may have experienced a poor service from the OPG not from LPA Protect, our email address is info@lpaprotect.co.uk

The LPA Minefield Simplified.

What a Minefield out there and we need LPA’s I made a point of renewing my will and called my original broker to do it. I also asked him to prepare a new LPA. His charge for the LPA was extortionate as I already had tested the water prior to telling him-hence he didn’t get the LPA so LOOK AROUND. LPA we’re my On The Choice because I got a good response from the company and in particular our assigned council James Grant. The three I had spoken with were knowledgable but James was that little bit more knowledgable and took me right through it and “The Price Fitted”get your prices for doing an LPA they vary tremendously.
In my Opinion-I got the Best Information-The Best Communication and It’s all now Registered with The Guardians . Thank you LPA & The Team. John

Dealing with Government departments can…

Dealing with Government departments can be extremely stressful particularly the Office of Public Guardian but these guys made it simple and straightforward, nothing was too much trouble, would highly recommend them.
