Misleading & Careless Movers
Hired Man With Van London a few weeks ago & had a negative experience. I would exercise caution if you are considering to work with them.
#1: Arrived late - annoying but common issue based on my experience. Can overlook this.
#2: Broke some of my items during the move - they were careless in their process of taking care of furniture. Multiple times things would keep falling down. If you value your items, pay special attention. I have photo & video evidence, but TrustPilot doesn't have the ability to post it in here.
This is unacceptable when you’re hiring a moving company - care & consideration of goods should be of importance. While accidents can happen, recklessness with handling goods is not acceptable. It was a repetitive behaviour noticed when loading goods into their van. I’ve yet to be compensated fairly for this.
#3: The 2 workers were very slow with loading into the Truck. It was fairly confusing given that they were collecting items from a Storage unit that have already been packaged. I’m inclined to think they were overcharging me by not being proficient with their time.
#4: The worst one of all — The boss behind the service mis-represented his services. I asked for both a removals & transport of goods. I specified this clearly in my email - even entailing what needed to be ‘removed’, and what specifically needed to be ‘transported’ to my new flat. To play devil’s advocate, it could be argued miscommunication of terminology (“rubbish removals”), but it was still implied that I was disposing of a set batch of goods through email correspondence.
At the end of the job, I was hit with a ~£130 ‘dumping fee’ — as to how this fee was conjured up is anyone’s guess. Also cheeky is the workers tried to ask for £150 “because it needs VAT”, which he was corrected by his own boss, Guy.
When bringing this issue up with Guy, he begins to get irritated, which naturally made me upset as well as I hate being taken advantage of.
Paid it in the end as I hate the stress of these situations. However, this sour experience has still been on mind, and I feel it’s worth your time reading this if you’re considering to use their service.
In summary:
1: The workers were not proficient in their use of time.
2: One of the workers broke some of my furniture & was reckless with moving goods into the Van.
3: The boss behind the company misrepresented his quotation in pursuit of additional money.
My personal take? Unhappy & inconsiderate. Choose another Man & Van company.
