The tiles I used were awful quality, snapping easily as I walked over them. The ones fitted in the 1970’s on the house were better. The new ones are extremely weak, like walking on egg shells.
I will probably re-do the entire roof at some point, with stronger, better quality tiles.
I posted a review indicating the very poor quality of the Marley products. I received a reply asking me to contact their customer service centre. After several communications I eventually received the generic "sod off" reply. In other words, I was not worthy of their time or effort to investigate the very poor quality, any form of dialogue to describe the issues and problems this product had caused. They considered me to be mere pleb, an insignificant being, someone who dared to criticise their product. They considered themselves to be above any form of criticism nor were they willing to listen to someone like me. Initially, I wanted to highlight their dreadful quality of their product but they automatically assumed that I was after some form of compensation even though this was never mentioned. As far as they were concerned, they were beyond and form of blame or considered it necessary to investigate further. Having spoken to many roofers, builders and suppliers, it is plain that the product offered by this company is highly inferior to many other brands available. They're overpriced, lack any quality, poorly made and only fit for landfill. One roofer will only fit if it is the last resort, he said that the quality varies considerably, one batch might be nearly acceptable whilst another being absolutely dreadful. Unfortunately, the latter is by far the most frequent. Be warned, if your a small builder or roofing firm, gifted DIYer or self builder, AVOID THIS PRODUCT LIKE THE PLAGUE. The big boys don't care, they're not paying the bills! There are far better, more durable, superior quality and cheaper products on the market that these dreadful ones. Be warned! PS: Had to give them one star..... That's far too generous.
I had Marley slate effect tiles used on my extension in 2011.Within the year I had to have the whole roof stripped and redone. About one third of the tiles had the same fault - fine fractures on all of them that leaked in no time. We had to pay a second set of builders to do this in Jan 2013.
I now have the roof leaking heavily again for the second time and i'll now need to pay a third set of roofers to strip it and replace the faulty tiles and again its not obvious what tiles are causing the prob but I can imagine it is fractures again or porous tiles.
I would appreciate some advice on how to progress this problem as the foof is only 13yrs old and according to Marley should be guaranteed for 15yrs and should last overall for at least 60yrs.

Marley solar tiles. I've been installing solar for nearly 12 years and this system is horrendous. Its like fitting the most fiddly flashing kit in the world to each panel. If a peice of the kit has a slight dent in which let's be honest will happen alot then good look getting it in the gasket. I think the owner has shares in windolene as this is recommended to lube up the gasket before attempting to slide in the flashing kits. Avoid.
I’ve been a roofer for nearly 40yrs and the quality of Marley tiles is the worst I’ve ever experienced with tiles no matter which tile. I’ve always told my customers to go for a Marley tile because the colours are superior to other makers but I will no longer do so. The latest job I’ve been working on we have been using smooth grey plain tiles, the tiles either have one nib or none, chips on the corners or they break just looking at them. We had 6000 tiles delivered and estimate 400 at least were faulty and that’s not on specially at 60 pence each. Unless you’re products improve I will no longer recommend or buy this hardcore.

I'm doing an extension/re-roof on a bungalow and the customer chose Marley Modern Smooth Grey tiles to replace the 50 year old Redland Deltas that were on there. I have to say, they are the worst tiles I've ever worked with in terms of quality and strength. We got 5 pallets, nearly 1000 tiles, and apart from the 50 or so visible broken within the wrapped pallets when they arrived, quite a few more were broken in the middle of the pallet. As others have mentioned, they are full of flaws, particularly on the lower edge corners, where about 90% have protrusions which need grinding off to get the to fit properly. Very difficult to work with. You quickly learn that you can't walk on them like you can with most other concrete tiles, they break very easily. You can't even rest your hand on them without risking breaking them across the middle. Not sure how we're going to tackle the ridge yet.
I had one broken corner today caused by lumpy protrusions, and broke 3 others while trying to replace it very carefully. Ridiculous.
It looks like these tiles are going to be a very expensive mistake!
Just had my house re-roofed with Marley Double Roman Smooth tiles. The quality of the finish on these tiles is terrible, with the colour, specially at the edges, rubbed off - and this was before they had even been laid! Contacted Marley by email twice to get their take on this but didn't get an acknowledgement let alone a reply!
Edit: With reference to the reply below if you had read my review properly you will see that I have already emailed you twice!

Poor Quality AND Expensive. All the Marley wessex tiles I got had the exact same flaw in their mould - causing a week spot - exactly where they keep breaking on exisiting roof.
The concrete also seems weak with a few of them shattering.
Really poor considering they are one of the most expensive around.
AND WHY DO THEY CHARGE £140+ for delivery of 1 TILE. Rip Off

Fabulous service ordered samples and arrived the next day free of charge. I just wish other companies were as efficient. Well done Marley.co.uk
I had my roof tiles replaced with Marley Ashmore tiles. After just a few months a severe difference in colour appeared in patches. The roof looks a mess. I asked Marley to test the tiles. They said no. The roof got worse over the years and I was constantly fobbed off by Marley. They told me to have the tiles tested. At a cost of over £900 the report showed there could be a difference in the texture of some tiles, thus the uneven patchy appearance. I contacted Marley asked them to test the tiles, they said no its weathering! The tiles seem to be very brittle I have had lots of broken tiles. Would not recommend Marley Ashmore tiles.
Ordered Marley flat tiles for a complete new roof on a five bedroom house . It became apparent there is a huge color contrast between the tiles on one half of the roof against the other . After getting the complete run around by Marley roof tiles , getting passed on from one person to the next . Being told they were on vacation would contact next week , never did . After being chased down and threatened with legal action we finally got a rep to come out . Got a long winded report saying the huge color discrepancy was due to Efflorescence and that weathering would rectify it over a year . Basically a complete fob off . Upon inspection the glaze on the contrasting tiles is completely different, and has nothing to do with Efflorescence. Basically seems they tell you it’ll be fine in a year in to get you to eat it . Has anyone had success suing Marley tiles or have used a legal team that work in this arena . I wish I could post pictures . Shameful a company acts this way giving the run around and tries to be completely evasive . I’d never use them on a project again , basically took 2 months to send a rep out and has completely held the project up . Please reach out if you have a legal team with experience with Marley roof tiles . Do your self a favor and avoid this company if your expecting any accountability or follow up customer service after spending tens of thousands of pounds
Very easy to order samples, extremely quick response.
First class service all round, has made life and choices very easy
Ordered Marley ACME Farmhouse Brown as Beaufiful clay roof tiles far superior to other clay tiles on the market. Sales Rep; Julie White was the best, co ordinated discussions and calculations with her technical department, sent samples to select colour and her advise was invaluable. Thank you so much!
This company are horrendous.
Their rep came out and said that the faulty tiles they provided were fit for purpose.
They played David and goliath untill I took the loss on the chin.
The tiles ALL had an indentation on them which only became visible when they were wet.
Absolutely atrocious, I would have had to throw 100k at them to proceed with legally.
Even though I was in the right my solicitor advised me to walk away.
I hope that these directors run out of milk, frequently.
Good service, clearly knows what they are talking about and trustworthy.
Building a new house in Wales. The subcontractor for the roofing company is complaining that these tiles chip, break and crack very easily - even tiles that have been laid are splitting in the freezing temperature we are having. Said he has to charge more for laying these tiles are so hard to install with high rate of breakages/cracking. Also the solar panel installers complained that they break very easily when installing the solar panels (unlike roofing tiles) and are very poor quality. I'm disappointed that the roofing contractor prioritised his profit margin (lower cost for him to buy/higher mark up) over ease of installation and quality of tile.

We are the home owner and have installed Marley Ashmore. So many broken tiles, just unbelievable. Then we had to put a scaffold on and more broken tiles. The tiles are breaking underneath so it isn’t visible to the eye. No one has a good word to say about them.

Currently using Marley Ashmore. Wish I'd gone with Redland Duoplain as the ends of the channels are full of overspill from the manufacturing process. You have to chip it off carefully by hand on 90% of the tiles, probably put an extra days labour on the roof for 4 men as it has 4000 tile on it. If you try to lay the tiles with the overspill still on they wont sit properly flush and if you walk on them they break instantly.

Currently using Marley modern tiles on a roof. I can honestly say if I was asked to use them again I would totally refuse and would rather lose the job than have to go through the stress of using these.
Alot of the bottoms look like they have been chewed.
Lugs aren't in the same position so some look twisted or don't sit on the batten.
Lugs are very minimal for stacking on a roof. A few times now stacks of tiles have come loose and damaged the membrane.
It's like Russian Roulette.
And now I've had an email to say Marley are putting their prices up.
As far as I'm aware they are the most expensive and the worst quality.
Marley installed roof tiles on our new build house, contracted by the builder here in the Highlands.
After trying to rectify for over a year, the area sales manager Mark Chambers eventually came to the property with the builder and took photos of the incorrect patch of tiles from afar. A few weeks later, a long winded and dismissive report was sent through to the builder and myself, with the excuse that the tiles are within tolerance for colour variation and that nothing is to be done. In Marleys words "as a result of weathering, the roof will become more harmonious over time". No mention that the tiles are in fact the wrong shade/batch and that regardless, they have not been suitably mixed to avoid a patchy appearance as regulations state.
I have photos of the roof and the letter sent by Marley which I would like to add to this review.
