Kristin, Medi-Share appreciates you bringing your frustration to our attention. Medi-Share does have options to lower your monthly share cost if you would like to discuss those. Sharing assistance is available if a member's illness or injury causes a loss of income, but not due to job loss. Medi-Share is a health care sharing ministry, not insurance, governed by member-voted guidelines, acknowledged by all members. As per those guidelines, when someone is canceled for not sharing faithfully, they can reapply. If approved for a new membership, eligible medical bills will be shared after the first 90 days per the guidelines. Medi-Share has to uphold the guidelines that members have voted to put in place. If you have further questions or comments, please call 800-264-2562 or email dlsocialsupport@medishare.com. Thanks very much.

This is my final review

This is my final review. After paying money for 2.5 years into a medical sharing organization, I can say avoid at all costs. My costs for melanoma surgery and biopsies totaled well over 37k just in n the last 3 months of paying into this scheme. I easily met my deduction amount. I gave them one more chance to investigate my claim. lol. They will find reasons out of your control to not pay one cent. Run and let them pray over their own souls. They need it. Phony organization.

Robert, Medi-Share sincerely regrets your disappointment with the program. At Medi-Share, members vote on the guidelines, so please understand that Medi-Share cannot share in medical bills if requested information is not received. Your records have been reviewed, and if the requested information is received within one year from the date of service, your bills can be submitted for reprocessing. If you have any questions, please call Member Services at 800-264-2562. Thank you.

Scam, fake spiritualists trying to steal your money

Being apart of Medi-Share was a constant headache. At a glance their website deceives you into thinking that there are plenty of providers in the area that take medi-share. When this is in fact not the case. Their customer service was atrocious, their website was constantly billing me even though I had already paid my share. The whole thing felt like a big scam honestly, and I wasted way too much money on medi-share and received no health help whatsoever. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with medishare.

Cole, thank you for voicing your concerns about Medi-Share. We regret that you feel the program held little value for you. Medi-Share has recently improved the provider search process with the implementation of a new purpose-built provider search tool. We apologize if the auto-generated monthly share statements were troublesome to you. As a health care sharing ministry, and not insurance, your membership was a blessing to many. If you have further questions or comments, please email dlsocialsupport@medishare.com . Thanks very much.

This is our experience and it is not…

This is our experience and it is not yet resolved. I hope others have had a better experience. My wife had an emergency surgery on June 2nd and we are still struggling with communication and follow through. We submit immediately when they ask for additional information/documentation but if it submitted horizontal instead of vertically, it is rejected. No notification. Nothing is known about this unless we follow up. Several times they have promised to get back with us, but have yet to follow through. They showed "contracted discount" amounts that they "negotiated" with the provider, but this turned out to be totally false, according to the providers themselves. In the mean time as we are doing our best to get help, our providers are threatening collections. We expected so much more integrity from a Christian organization. About the only Christian value we have experienced, is that they pray for us. We liked this at first, but now seems like a way to pacify us. Their marketing is not honest. They know they are marketing to people looking to find alternatives to traditional health care. When you see $50 Dr visit copay or $500 ER visit or $9000 out of pocket, that is what you expect. The reality is, they don't do the $50 copay or $500 ER until after the $9000 has been satisfied (this is what they told us on the phone). Thus far, of the $46k we owe, our providers say we owe $27k - not $9k. We will report back with better news if it comes.

Mr. Smith, Medi-Share appreciates your comments and is actively working with Mrs. Smith by phone and email to resolve your concerns. A few words about provider fees: the $50 office fee and $500 emergency room fee are an initial down payment toward services and go to the provider. The provider fees do not apply to the Annual Household Portion at any time. After services are rendered by the provider, the provider should submit the final bill with total charges to Medi-Share for processing. If you or Mrs. Smith have any other questions or comments, please reach out to the Medi-Share representative assisting with your case. Thank you very much!

Medi-Share denied my claim

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Medi-share. they denied coverage for my hip replacement surgery by labeling it as a pre-existing condition.
for nearly seven years, i saw my orthopedic dr to monitor my hip. During that time, we were simply keeping an eye on it. It wasn't unit recently that my condition progressed to bone-on-bone arthritis, causing severe pain and making everyday activities difficult. at this point, surgery became medically necessary.
Instead of recognizing that my condition had significantly worsened, Medi-share denied my claim because I had been seeing the same dr for years. This is called monitoring a condition.
The experience has been frustrating and stressful.
I encourage anyone considering Medi-Share to carefully understand how they define pre-existing conditions and how that my effect coverage for future medical needs.

Thank you for your feedback, Mayra. Medi-Share reviewed your concerns previously. As a gentle reminder, this health care sharing ministry is governed by member-voted guidelines that are applied equally across the membership. Section VI, F of those guidelines states: "A pre-existing medical condition is defined as signs/symptoms, testing, diagnosis, treatment, or medication for a condition within 36 months prior to membership (based on medical records)." As you indicated, you have had difficulties with your hip for seven years. Medi-Share has a responsibility to uphold the guidelines that members have put in place and to which each new member agrees when joining. If you have any questions, please call Medi-Share at 800-264-2562. Thanks very much.

Faith Based Organization? Really?

How does a faith-based organization who's foundation is loving and caring for others, have a large set of pre-existing conditions?

I accept the lifestyle principles at face value. Completely consistent and no difference from USAA initially starting with Commissioned Officers whose lifestyle tends to be less risky.

Got that.

I can even leap to the conclusion that one's behavior is potentially a reason for disqualification from a medical condition.

Like overeating for years at Church Picnics with the fatty foods and then getting high cholesterol and having to take medications. My consequence for my chosen behavior, so, my sin, my cost.

Got it again. Kind of.

But thyroid disease, no behavioral health, let alone any hint of a condition is a pre-condition, and you have a health plan that is so failed, its founders should be ashamed of its closet discrimination that isn't so 'closet'.

So, diseases brought on by pollution, like living in a town full of chemical factories.

Being subjected to trauma, without request, leaving one mentally broken. "No bueno" says the Christian organization.

Foot those sinful bills yourself.

Disgust at the hypocracy results.

It's difficult. I did my job, worked hard, lived my life along the same principles of this organization and found myself having to care for someone 62, causing me to quit my job and live off my life savings to get to 65.

There is no insurance that helps. None. Medishare COULD have.... but, given could have never been sick and have a condition and qualify for insurance that might actually help, instead of further draining what little is left.... we get this feckless organization.

Like all the others.

Mr. Hendrickson, because Medi-Share is not insurance, there are some differences to be aware of, especially when there are pre-existing needs. Please understand that membership would not be denied because of pre-existing conditions. The guidelines that are in place are voted on by the members, keeping in mind that our goal is to keep monthly costs down. The ministry's intention is never to cause hardship, which is why we strive to educate those interested. Those needs could still be eligible for discounts if you stayed in the First Health network. We do realize Medi-Share is not always the best fit for every need, which is why it's great that there are many choices available today. More details can be found here: https://www.medishare.com/start-here . Thanks very much.

Nothing but red tape and Lies

After using them and not sending in any claims my daughter tore her ACL. She ended up needed several surgeries over 3 years. They kept changing their policies making it a nightmare to get anything reimbursed. After my deductible was met $10,500 they were to reimburse everything. They paid maybe 50% of the bills over the deductible.

Medishare is HORRIBLE - Never Use It - Don't Believe Them

Medishare is HORRIBLE. Never use it!

I had to visit the ER in October 2024, and it required multiple post visits due to an infection. However, I also got several very LARGE bills totaling over $30,000, even though I was told by Medishare reps that my maximum liability would be $12,000/year.
Also, for several services, initially, Medishare made a payment in December 2024 for some of the services. In one example $349.45. However, in June 2025, I started getting multiple statements in the mail from providers indicating a Balance Due. The details, stated, "Refund or takeback from Ins for -$349.45."

I did cancel my service in April 2025, AFTER signing up for a difference health insurance plan with a different company, but Medishare SHOULD have honored the payments they made for services during the dates I had an active plan with them; I have no idea how what they did with a takeback is ethical.

I think some of the employees who answer the phones may be good Christians and pray with you, but whoever is leading it is CORRUPT and UNETHICAL and GREEDY. I have not paid multiple medical bills because I believe Medishare violated their agreements with me. I will likely need to spend hours of the time I have left on this earth to fight with this horrible company for my rights; it's an uphill battle and time commitment I am not looking forward to.

Can I give them a zero

Can I give them a zero? Unhelpful. Christian is not a proper adjective for medishare. They take advantage of Christianity to enrich themselves. Some of the most basic coverages are being revoked or reduced while share costs skyrocket. Avoid medishare

Medishare Paid Fast and in Full!

My wife and I had medishare when our first child was born. There were some complications and our daughter was placed in the NICU for a week. My wife also had to stay a few extra days in the hospital. Medishare was amazing! We had met our annual portion (deductible) prior to the baby being born, so we didn't pay a dime for the week our daughter was in the intensive care unit. The total bill was well over 100k. Medishare discounts brought the total bill to 77k and then they paid the rest. Medishare also took care of every cent of the follow-up visits for my wife and newborn. They were fast and effective.

Medi-share brings negative value

Medi-share brings negative value to healthcare. Providers act like they don’t know what Medi-share is, forcing customers to pay cash and submit bills to Medi-share manually, which leads to a sixty day review. Medi-share then demonstrates skill at rejecting claims as preexisting conditions. And even if you are diagnosed with something they’ll help pay, prescriptions are only paid out six months post diagnosis. My wife contracted a chronic illness a couple of months after we joined and it was a nightmare. Some providers would not work with us at all as her health problems increased. One provider would only work with us after we fired Medi-share. They will pray with you, but the only real service we got was from the patient advocate nurse who advised us to drop Medi-share and join Obamacare. We paid about $3500 for zero value received and negative impact on our health. I wouldn’t recommend Medi-share to my worst enemy. Stay far away from Medi-share.

Con artists. Don't fall for them.

I just had to write this after hearing their unctuous ads on the radio. Don't fall for that ad of theirs.
They don't cover much. They don't pay much. They drag their feet. All of healthcare providers have quit accepting them. They told us to get new ones, who were only ones that took medicare patients. We were essentially lowered to the level of medicare patients and treated as such.
They didn't cover much of my wife's procedure even after pre-approval. We had attorneys and bill collector after us.
To their credit, they finally got involved and negotiated a settlement for us. But how humiliating to be treated like deadbeats everywhere we went. Plus, the hospital where the procedure was done refused anything but cash upfront from us after that.
All while thumping their bibles at you. They make me sick.

Poor Customer Service - Fast Cash Grab!

Here's a copy of my cancellation notice.
This is my letter of notification for cancellation of services associated with We Share and Healthcare by UHSM.
Reasons for cancellation
- Onboarding date urgency - Onboarding meeting is MANDATORY. If the onboarding is mandatory, the urgency to execute the meeting is lacking attention. My meeting is scheduled for February 26th.
- Expedient bank withdrawal - The funds were almost immediately withdrawn from my account. I did expect the withdrawal. But, when called to get clarification no one was available to take the call.
Poor customer service - During the process of seeking simple answers in order to line up my financial calendar, I was put on hold for over 30 minutes on 2 separate occasions. I took advantage of the offer to press "1" to receive a call back. The call came an hour and twenty-five minutes later as a spam call and I missed the call. No other attempt from We Share was made to contact me. I reached out and again was placed on hold for almost 30 minutes for the second time. I called back and the person placed me on hold after I asked/begged not to be put on hold. After a few minutes, I hung up and have not received a call back.
Further Damage Prevention - It is stated in the documents that I can cancel anytime. Therefore, I do not authorize any payments to be withdrawn from my bank account because of my cancellation. If this is the type of customer service from the beginning, I'm selecting to end the partnership to avoid any problems if would have ever needed the service.
Misleading and Perception of Being and Unethical Company - I regret that I did not look at the reviews for We Share Healthcare by UHSM. They are very poor with similar stories as my experience. All this gives a feeling of being misled (christian values) and a perception of being unethical. People who are in need seek companies like yours because of the trust value. Clearly, that doesn't matter because my trust and the trust of others is shattered.
Regrettably disturbed,Leland L.

Haven't used the health part of it but…

Haven't used the health part of it but here is my take on the sign up process. Was told there was $149 sign up fee only to see the next day there was not only the $149 on my credit card but an additional $918.00. Tried calling 3 times to cancel or explain. Our initial contact didn't call us back, the second contact put me on hold (waited 40 mins and nobody answered) and the 3rd person said someone would call me back within 2 hours and nobody did. Tried calling today and have been on hold for 30 mins and gave up. Take it for what it is worth - we won't be using them but maybe it will work for you. Good Luck

This company operates like a scam

This company operates like a scam. I have been paying for their services for over a year, and instead of helping, they have caused nothing but stress and frustration. They have failed to assist with my bills and actually delayed the process on several of them, which has now resulted in accounts going to collections.

The mobile app rarely works, the website is difficult to navigate, and it typically takes three to four phone calls just to reach a representative. When I do reach someone, they speak in circles and are often rude and unhelpful.

After a year of paying for no real service, I will not be giving this company another cent. I would strongly warn anyone considering this company to stay far away.

Overpromised and underdelivered..

Overpromised and underdelivered... They claim to be a Christian company with rave reviews. They do a detailed study of your medical information you provide and because they do not cover preexisting conditions they seem to try and connect any new condition or ailment to your preexisting condition and they deny your claim. I believe they grossly misrepresent their coverage and I know for sure they misrepresent their customer satisfaction rate. We spent a lot of money on their premium and then they tacked on a life coach fee to their supposed low rates which went up substantially after the first year. They told me that their life coach fee would drop off after a few months but it never did as I paid an extra 99.00 plus each and every month. Don't waste your money. I was with Medishare from June 2023 to December 2025.

Ripoff

Awful. Had them for 5 or 6 years never paid a dime . Only used them one time on heart stints . Bill was 68k . Not one cent was paid . Ended up settling with the hospital as a cash pay customer . It was always the run around . We need this you send it and then they would need something else . Don’t fall for the Christian talk . The people working for them maybe IDK . But company wise Christian would be the last way to describe them . They’re just using that to draw people in . I’m sure they are paying in some cases but do you want to take the chance on not being one they do ?

MediShare is

MediShare is, without exaggeration, one of the most frustrating and misleading healthcare “sharing” programs I’ve ever dealt with. After months of faithfully paying into the program, they covered nothing. Not a partial share. Not a meaningful explanation. Just delay after delay, denial after denial, and a pile of stress I didn’t sign up for.

The most outrageous part? Their in-network requirements for emergency care. Yes—emergency care. I was literally told, “When I go on vacation, I do a lot of research and make sure I’m near a hospital in network.”
Read that again. If your healthcare plan requires you to pre-plan which hospital you might have a medical emergency near while on vacation, the system is fundamentally broken.

Emergencies are, by definition, unpredictable. No one having a heart attack, suffering a serious injury, or facing a sudden medical crisis should be expected to pull out a network map first. That expectation alone disqualifies MediShare from being taken seriously as a healthcare solution.

And the public feedback reflects this reality. MediShare sits at around a 1.4-star rating on Trustpilot, which aligns perfectly with my experience: denied shares, vague explanations, and a complete lack of accountability.

Now compare that with CrowdHealth, and the difference is night and day.

$500 MAXIMUM out-of-pocket for any emergency

No network requirements — go to any doctor or hospital

For non-emergency care, you simply agree to consult them so they can recommend doctors who charge fair, transparent prices

22 million enrolled

4.9-star rating on Trustpilot

That’s what a modern, competent, member-focused healthcare model looks like.

Frankly, MediShare should save their members the ongoing stress and disappointment, shut down, and refer people directly to CrowdHealth. CrowdHealth is run by people who understand healthcare, transparency, and accountability—without needing to hide behind prayer or market “Christian values” as a substitute for actually delivering a functional service.

Healthcare doesn’t need sermons.
It needs competence.

MediShare fails at that. CrowdHealth doesn’t.
