Misleading Program

We joined MediShare about a year ago. Several months later, I went to my annual physical and had my doctor tell me the usual: lose some weight and keep using your baby statin drug to control cholesterol. The visit prompted a full medical review of my records by MediShare and I ultimately received a letter stating that I had numerous pre-existing conditions which MediShare was now notifying me that I would have no future sharing. All of these conditions were minor and properly disclosed in the original application' We were led to believe that nothing in my health history would be problematic for future sharing. It is now clear to us that MediShare actively looks for ways to deny sharing and therefore I suspect that any future major malady that I may encounter will likely be attributed to a "pre-existing" condition and thus denied. It was good to know their mentality sooner rather than after a future diagnosis, so I can quit the program. We are going back to a more traditional insurance program that can be relied on.

Poor way to run a business. This is a scam!

What can I say that has not already been said...? My husband is from Canada. He was waiting for his green card to be processed during the COVID shut-downs. He needed an affordable insurance. We listened to and believed the ad stating that they have higher customer satisfaction ratings than other insurance companies. What a load of bologna!!!
Upon being accepted, my husband went to one "wellness check-up" two years ago. That appointment IS STILL NOT PAID FOR. We did the job of the provider to access previous medical records and forward them to the medical billing department. Their excuse for not paying for this allowed service was: he might have had a previous condition from the past. Well, we got the medical records. Now what?
Nothing has changed. We keep getting the same bill every few months or weeks. Next we call the company to see why the bill hasn't been paid yet. Lame excuses and long wait times is all we get. Disgusting way to represent a Christ-like way of doing business.

A Physician perspective

As a physician I am appalled at their "Christian" behavior. In fact, I am a 56 year old healthy man with only arthritis and reflux on 2 medicines who was denied coverage by Medi-share because I was considered "high risk." I hadn't even met my insurance deductible in the last 5 years! They only want to cover people with no medical problems and avoid any payouts just like any pagan insurance. Only it's worse because they claim to be Christian. Plus their network of providers is small unless you live in a metropolis.

Don’t fall for the radio advertisement.

Moved over under the guise that our insurance was gonna be so much cheaper. As it turned out, the premiums were cheaper, but, they don’t pay out on anything. Ended up going back to my old insurance company. Premiums are more expensive, but procedures are covered.
If you wanna pay somebody to pray for you, then this plan is for you. If you want coverage on your medical bills stay away.

Stay Away from This Company

I cancelled my membership with Medishare. I paid them through autopay at my bank and was too slow in cancelling the payment. So they were paid $390 by mistake. When I called I spent a long time on the phone with someone who told me I would receive a refund but it would take 30 days. Then she told me if I didn't have the check in 30 days that means it was lost in the mail and they would send another check. Unbelievable. I didn't have a good feeling about this after she said that.

When they had not sent a check after 29 days, I called to check on the status of my refund. I spent over 45 minutes on the phone with someone who was trying to tell me they don't owe me money. Finally, he said that they did owe me money, and a check would be cut and should arrive in no more than 5 business days. They followed up with an email telling me they would send a check. Today is 7 days business days since we spoke, and since they sent the email saying they'd send a check, and still no check. I don't believe they ever planned on reimbursing me. They just tell me what they think I want to hear. And they call themselves a Christian company. Run, don't walk away from this company. Now I have to fight to get my money back. This so-called Christian company shouldn't be able to look in the mirror at themselves.

I NEVER leave reviews but I want people…

I NEVER leave reviews but I want people to know that as a Christian, I expect a company claiming to be a group of Christians to act with integrity. I have paid nearly double my deductible and they denied my son's claims because they stated he had some other insurance that ended in 2014. They just now asked me for letters of termination for this one and one other his dad had. And they laughed and said, oh by the way, if it is over one year - which conveniently it was JUST denied.....will not be paid even if I get the letters. Absolutely unethical, unChristian. If I could leave a 0 I would. I was a member 10 years!!

I rarely leave reviews

I rarely leave reviews, but I am so sick of trying to work with them that I feel the need to warn others. They work great, if you never have any medical bills. I am constantly fighting tooth and nail to get things moving. The latest debacle: we brought our daughter into a specific ER because their website said it was in network. Only to discover it wasn't actually. I asked how I can make sure something is actually in network, and they said ask the hospital. I called the hospital and the hospital said ask your insurance. When I told medishare they said "Yes, I can see how that would be frustrating". I am constantly having to call to get things moving along. I am constantly being told to wait 30 more days because the last person did something wrong, and it needs to be resubmitted. I am put on hold over and over again and transferred from person to person. Stay away if you value your time and money.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. I’ve called them to try to get medical bills sorted out and every time I call I am on hold for at least 30 minutes and sometimes up to three hours.

Telehealth visits used to be free and now they cost $25 supposedly under the guys of being able to get a hold of somebody faster however I recently tried and it took a full day for someone to call me back and it was some guy who doesn’t even speak English.

TV Pastor Level Con Artists.

It was a welcome piece of mind initially. Then it all went wrong.

Could no longer use my dentist. They were not covered by their "Christian Values".

Could no longer use my optometrist. They were not covered by their "Christian Values".

Had to struggle to find an "In Network" pharmacy ironically in one of the WORST places in the city that was covered, not just a generic Walgreens/CVS. Both are not "In Network". Just use GoodRx (not affiliated in any way) and you will get a better price/coverage.

Unfortunately I had to have a prolonged hospital stay. This was also deemed to be not covered by their "Christian Values".

Basically you pay them a fee every month, and then every other month your “Sharing Fee” which is usually your standard fee doubled, so they can tell you how horrible of a person you are and are not "Christian" enough for coverage.

Their cute little website notes how much they have paid or shared (which they do not reciprocate), which is completely not reflected when the hospital bills start coming in. PCHS adjustments can be denied because you are not “Christian” enough. My wife works in Medical Insurance, and luckily the Hospital I went to has fantastic billing personnel and called MediShare out on their lack of living up to their end of the bargain. Many months later the hospital and a generous donor NOT AT ALL AFFILIATED WITH THESE GRIFTERS help with my medical bills. Best part. He is a pastor in my local town.

DATE everything and keep everything on file. They will let you know you have X amount of time to appeal, but do not reply until it is almost the 11th hour. DO NOT speak to them via phone as they will say it is “Recorded”. In my industry, if it is not WRITTEN down and meet ALCOA++ standards, it does not exist. Be wary of this please.

I have been in the medical industry 20+ years. I know how to read progress notes and official diagnosis. Medishare will tell you what a Physician “meant” in their progress notes in efforts to deny your coverage.

After being denied I went through the appeals process 3 times. 8 MONTHS later as I was told I needed a “letter of clarification on official letter head and a doctors signature”, my primary treating physician, not an ER doctor, not an RN, NP, MY PRIMARY PHYSICIAN kindly provided this verbatim what they said they needed from him to un-deny my coverage and telling them how wrong they are. Nope. Literally 10 days after providing this letter spelling out EXACTLY what they needed it to say, NOPE, you are still not “Christian” enough, that is not what your doctor "Meant to Say", and denied any sharing or coverage.

I have been talking to the Big Man all my life. I have literally read the Bible cover to cover, Genesis 1:1 to The Revelation 22:21 multiple times. My wife's father and grandfather were both missionaries and Pastors. I have my a Great+ Grandfather's Celtic Cross from Ireland dated to the early 1700's that I wear daily. My own grandfather was a Knight of the Mason and Commander.

It is ironic the people wagging their fingers at you for not being "Christian" enough are the ones denying any kind of help or assistance and acting like the least “Christian” conglomerate. It is almost like they just want to take your money while taking our Lords name in vain like a TV “pastor”. It is truly disgusting.

Now correct me if I am wrong. But there was this dude, JC, who taught us about "Christianity" and helping others and those in need. Matthew, Mark, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and first Peter verses come to mind...But guess I am not "Christian" enough...

Total con artists praying on your beliefs. Please beware.

You can’t force them to stop claiming…

You can’t force them to stop claiming they are "Christian." They have no legal obligation to cover a claim. Unfortunately, the Christian label could use more third-party accountability, like GARBC or Reformed Methodist, but there are no credentials.

We would have been far better off paying out of pocket, with a lot less stress!

I've been with Medishare since 2014. Finally, now that I have a young family, we have needed to use it. They have been very difficult to work with. We've barely been reimbursed for anything. Most providers aren't even willing to submit the bill for use so the stress and hassle of trying to be the middle man has really been a burden. If you or your provider don't give every single detail with perfect coding on the submission form, Medi share marks it as ineligible (after taking 8 months to process it). Even with birth and delivery and many doctor visits, we would have been far better off paying out of pocket, with a lot less stress of having to perform billing tasks. Ive been on the phone with them probably at least 7 hours over the last year just trying to sort things out and get reimbursed. This makes me angry that they promote themselves as a christian company but are not loyal to serve their customers. And to think, I've been paying every month them for over ten years.

Medishare is a SCAM!! ☠️💀☠️💀

We only had 1 claim in over 10 years and they gladly took our money every single month but when it came time to provide coverage on a 13,000 ER charge, all we got from them were lame excuses….. MEDISHARE IS A SCAM!!

LISTENING TO RADIO ADVERTISEMENTS

I WAS CONSIDERING MEDI-SHARE AFTER LISTENING TO THEIR RADIO ADVERTISEMENTS AND RECOMMENDED BY DAVE RAMSEY WHO I RESPECT. I VERY LUCKILY RESEARCHED USER REFERENCES. I HAVE NEVER SEEN WORSE REFERENCES FOR ANY PRODUCT/SERVICE IN MY LIFE. THE CLAIMS MADE IN THE ADVERTISEMENTS ACCORDING TO THE MANY REFERENCES THAT I REVIEWED ARE ALL BLATANT LIES. UNBELIEVABLE FOR AN ORGANIZATION THAT CLAIMS TO BE DRIVEN BY CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES. SHAME ON THEM.

Deeply Disappointed - No Resolution After 4+ Months

I joined Medi-Share in good faith at the beginning of the year, trusting that they would uphold their promises to process medical bills in a timely manner. I submitted my first bill on January 22, 2025. As of today - more than 120 days later - it still has not been processed. This is well beyond their advertised 60-day timeframe.

I’ve reached out multiple times via email and attempted to call, but the communication has been minimal, vague, and often unresponsive. I’ve asked clear questions and rarely receive clear answers. At this point, I feel abandoned in a system that promises care and support but has delivered neither.

While I was refunded one month’s premium as a gesture, it doesn’t come close to resolving the broader issue of a failure to follow through on their core responsibilities. If Medi-Share is unable to deliver timely reimbursement or provide effective customer service, it undermines the trust that members place in the entire ministry.

I’m sharing this so others can make an informed decision. I genuinely wanted this to work - but my experience has shown me that Medi-Share may not be equipped to deliver what it promises. Proceed with caution.

This company refuses to pay bills

This company refuses to pay bills. I have 9 Quest bills that I have called about countless times, done three-way calls between Medi-Share and Quest, had promises over and over about "expediting" the payment, dates set to have them paid by, all to no avail. I have had 4 of them sent to collections by Quest and the others will be sent soon. Yet Medi-Share just keeps telling me that they are "expedited". I am so frustrated with the amount of time and energy I have spent to get these paid and still am having to deal with a collections company. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY! While no insurance company is great, at least the other companies pay the bills that they don't dispute. Medi-Share agrees that they are responsible for these bills and yet continue to be delinquent on their payment of them. Absolute nightmare!

We cancelled our insurance before the new month and they refused to refund the charge for the following month

We cancelled our insurance before the 1st of the new year (2025) and they refused to refund the Jan premium they had already drafted. I'm not upset they drafted, I'm upset they didn't refund it when they didn't cover any potential medical expenses for us in Jan. We had other coverage. It is not hard to refund a credit card charge and to not refund it is stealing!

Buyer beware!

Buyer beware!! Medi-Share do not cover screenings AT ALL even if you meet your very high deductible. They would rather have other members “share” the cost of your chemotherapy than pay for a colonoscopy and catch it early. Not to mention potential loss of life (but that’s not their problem I suppose). To me, this is unconscionable and the opposite of Christian behavior. They do not make this clear when you sign up and certainly don’t mention it in their radio commercials. They state they have 98% customer satisfaction. Not sure where they pull this statistic from, just take a look at this website. When you sign up they make you sign paperwork to say that your are not gay and you are not committing adultery. So does mean they won’t pay out it they find out to the contrary? Absolutely ridiculous business model and they should be ashamed.

We had Medishare for about 8 years

We had Medishare for about 8 years. My family is fairly healthy so we (thank goodness) rarely went to the doctor. I avoided the doctor at all cost because it cost a fortune. Recently we needed it for a couple of important issues. Both no doctors within an hour of me would take Medishare despite being 30 miles from 2 large cities. I searched for a surgeon for my injured child for days. I called at least 10 doctors ON THEIR LIST and NONE of them took Medishare. So they lie big time about which and how many physicians take Medishare. All of the doctors that I called said that their office does not take it anymore because Medishare does not pay the claims. I talked to 4 people at Medishare and all of them acted like the physicians office gave me incorrect information. It was a nightmare.
