I feel disappointed that it was a “paint by number”approach rather than personalised care.

I have just had my 3rd appointment with Dr Fleet and as usual it was perfect. She listens to me and understands how I feel. She doesn't dismiss any of my symptoms and feelings, this is what my GP did and why I went private. She has altered my dosages and prescribed me testosterone (something my GP wouldn't) & my life has changed dramatically. I still get symptoms and often still feel on the edge but nothing like I did before I started seeing Dr Fleet. I am able to function throughout the day rather than not wanting to be here anymore. She has saved my life because with what I was getting from the GP I don't know where my mental health would be now.
My prescriptions are always sorted straight away and I get them a few days later. Everything is very clear to understand & if not the admin team are fantastic at sorting anything you're not sure about. Worth every penny to me 😊

After a profoundly demoralising two year stretch of trying to work with multiple GP's across two different NHS surgeries, it became glaringly clear I was asking for support from the wrong system. As a last ditch effort, I reached out to Dr. Melissa Rasouli three months ago for her expertise in neurodivergence, PMDD, progesterone intolerance, and perimenopause. I am so thankful I did. Dr. Rasouli has been able to provide a level of support, insight, and science-led guidence that has encouraged me to have a voice [that is listened to] regarding my own perimenopause experience. It is still early days but, I dare say, I have hope again and that speaks volumes to Dr. Rasouli's care and expertise.

I saw Dr Stewart for menopause symptoms. I felt she really listened to me and didn’t dismiss my symptoms. She went through all my symptoms by one and offered advice how to help. Making the appt was easy and convenient and the welcome I received when I attended was friendly. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Would definitely recommend .

I have a complicated gynaecological medical history (endometriosis, adenomyosis, polycystic ovaries, fibroids), along with a family history of breast cancer, which means HRT is something I need to consider very carefully. I specifically wanted to find a Doctor who understood about all these factors. I wasn't making the progress I hoped with via the NHS, and so took the decision to go privately. I am so happy that I did so, I feel I have been really understood by Dr Eloise Elphinstone, who was a lovely combination of extremely knowledgeable and experienced, as well as warm and friendly. All the questions and worries I had were addressed during the appointment, and a sensible action plan was suggested. I am looking forward to my next appointment.

I am in the midst of my experience with Menopause Care and so far I couldn’t have been looked after better. Absolutely everyone that I have come into contact with has been so kind and compassionate, and it is an absolute breath of fresh air after disappointing and neglectful experiences elsewhere. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I was nervous about a video consultation talking about personal issues with a Dr I had not or seen one met before. She quickly put me at ease. Our conversation was open and detailed. She listened, reflected back to make sure she understood and included me in the decisions and treatments. I would highly recommend and no qualms about returning for follow ups. The admin staff were super helpful too, going the extra mile.

I could be more please with my appointment with Dr Nightingale. This was the best decision I’ve ever made concerning my health. Dr Nightingale Listened very carefully and also taught me a lot. I am so grateful for her support helping me in the right direction with my health!

Dr Sarah Houghton was amazing. My own female drs have been totally useless as they would never confirm that I had peri menopause even though I knew this was happening to me. They just wouldn’t listen to me and just didn’t care about all the bad symptoms I was experiencing. However, Dr Sarah Houghton was great she listened to everything I had to say and I felt like she cared. For the first time in a very long time I felt like there was a light at the end of the tunnel after my appointment. I paid about £300 but the price is definitely worth it compared to what I was going through. I am going to try some new medication but if it doesn’t work I now have the hope that I can make another appointment and discuss another option to help me and that was something I never had with my drs before.

I have thought very carefully about writing this review because my experience with Menopause Care Ltd was extremely distressing, and the consequences of the treatment I received have had a profound impact on my life.

I went to them looking for help with severe PMDD and the hormonal changes I was experiencing. Instead, I felt that my care became a process of continually changing and adjusting hormones without enough consideration of how severely unwell I was becoming. At times, I felt more like a guinea pig than a patient whose individual response and wellbeing were being carefully monitored.

Most importantly, I did not feel adequately safeguarded when I was at my worst. My mental health deteriorated significantly during this period, and I felt that the seriousness of what was happening to me was not properly recognised or responded to.

I also strongly disagree with the approach taken towards progesterone in relation to PMDD. I did not feel that progesterone therapy was properly considered as an option for me, despite the severity of my symptoms. Instead, I was repeatedly given or advised to use increasing amounts of oestrogen. From my experience, this was completely counterproductive. I already felt that I was in a state of what I understood to be oestrogen dominance, and continuing to increase my oestrogen made me severely unwell.

I believe my experience demonstrates how important it is for women with PMDD to have genuinely individualised care and for clinicians to recognise that hormonal treatments can affect women very differently. I believe progesterone should at least be properly discussed as part of the treatment options for someone with severe PMDD, rather than being dismissed or overlooked.

The treatment I received made my PMDD symptoms significantly worse in my experience, and I have spent a long time trying to recover from what was an incredibly destabilising period of my life.

I am not writing this because I expect every woman to have the same experience as me. I am writing it because I believe women seeking menopause and PMDD care deserve to feel listened to, properly informed about their options, and, above all, safe when they become severely unwell.

This review reflects my personal experience and the impact the treatment had on me.
