Charge of $450 when cancelled order within days.

I wanted to charge the doors to 2 separate cards at 0% interest. My purpose for getting the doors was a birthday surprise. Due to my mother going to the hospital 2 days later, I went to place the order and had a go round with a 1800 rush charge to get them on time. So, in 2 days, I was going to give them an additional $1,800 in profit. I decided to take a chance and not pay the additional fee. Then I was told to use PayPal to do the split credit card. The split did not happen, and the first card declined. I asked them to cancel the order and start again, splitting the cards. Insisted on letting PayPal work it out. PayPal then charged my AMEX without my permission, which carries a 20% interest rate. Now they want to charge me $450. The agent was to call me back to work this out but instead i got a refund of minus the $450! I suspect that they make their profits on fees!

Bought a Door… Accidentally Became Batman

I wasn’t planning on becoming a secret agent… but after installing a Murphy Door, here we are.

First off, this thing is ridiculous in the best way possible. I ordered it thinking, “Cool, hidden door, that’ll be neat.” What I got was a full-blown main character experience. Every time someone comes over, I casually lean on what looks like a normal bookshelf, give it a little push, and boom… jaws drop. I’ve never felt more powerful in my own home.

The quality? Solid. Like “this could survive a medieval siege” solid. The install was way smoother than I expected, and everything lined up clean. You can tell it’s not some gimmicky Pinterest project… this is legit craftsmanship.

Functionality is top-tier too. It’s not just a door, it’s actually useful storage. I’ve got books, random stuff, and probably a few things I don’t want guests asking about… all hidden in plain sight.

My only problem now is that I keep looking for excuses to dramatically reveal it. Amazon delivery? Hidden door. Friends visiting? Hidden door. Wife asking where I put the snacks? Definitely hidden door.

10/10 would recommend. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like Batman but still live in a normal house, this is your move.

Warning ⚠️ I purchased a Murphy Door…

Warning ⚠️ I purchased a Murphy Door and it was severely broken when I opened the box that was VERY poorly packaged. It took Murphy Door 2 weeks to respond to my request to replace the broken door. After 2 weeks there decision was "sorry we can't help you, but well give you 25% off a new door"... this is absolutely NOT quality customer service!! They do not care about you, they just want your money. I blew $4,200 on a useless door for my brand new custom home. I couldn't be a more surprised and disappointed. Don't be fooled by there great commercials, like I was. They do not stand by their products. You're only going to get a tail light guarantee. Buyer beware!!!

Don’t purchase from them

Don’t purchase from them. My Murphy bed came with no hardware, and no one answers the phone, or emails. Customer service is terrible. We’ve been trying to contact someone for weeks

Great Doors, Horrible Customer Support, Buy add-ons directly you'll thank me...

I really wanted to love my Murphy Door experience. The concept is awesome, hidden doors, clever design, quality craftsmanship. But what should have been a smooth premium purchase turned into a months long headache.

I ordered a flush mount out-swing bookcase door along with several add ons (the AutoSwing opener, electromagnetic lock, and wireless fobs). The door itself is nice, but the add ons were a complete nightmare as they were not compatible with my door. Some of the items showed up not in their original packaging and honestly looked like refurbished equipment, which was never disclosed when I bought them.

The bigger issue, though, was customer service. Getting real help was next to impossible. Most “product specialists” are basically just sales reps reading off a script. When you have an actual technical issue, they cannot really help. I'd email customer support, get a text message response that almost always completely ignored the issues I'd outlined in my email message.

After spending thousands of dollars, I ended up having to contact the actual manufacturers of the add on products just to get working parts and support. And here is the kicker. Those same items are sold directly by the original vendors for less money, often with way better customer service.

If you are thinking about buying from Murphy Door, my advice is this:
Buy the door from them, because that is what they do well. But skip all the upsells and order any accessories (like openers, locks, or key fobs) directly from the third party companies. You will save money, get the parts in proper condition, and will not be stuck waiting weeks for answers that never come.

It is a shame, because the idea behind Murphy Door is great. But the customer experience, especially around their add ons, really misses the mark.

Murphy Door Review – The $9K Hide-and-Seek Experience

I thought buying from Murphy Door would be like stepping into a world of craftsmanship, hidden doors, and sleek design. What I got instead was a masterclass in how to pay luxury pricing for IKEA-level support.

Let’s start with the “Product Specialists.” Don’t be fooled by the fancy title—it’s basically code for “sales reps with Google open in another tab.” Ask them a deep technical question and you’ll hear the sound of tap-dancing around the answer. And if you push harder? They’ll reveal the great mystery: apparently, there’s only one actual technical specialist in the entire company. One person. Somewhere. Possibly mythical, like Bigfoot.

I personally spent over $9K. The “autoslide” they happily upsold me? Marked up 200%. And here’s the kicker—once you realize it doesn’t actually work out of the box, you’ll find yourself calling AutoSlide directly and dropping another $600 just to make the thing functional. At that point, you’ve basically bought yourself a DIY kit with a Murphy Door price tag.

Support? Forget it. They’ll point you to a few cute YouTube videos that make the easy installs look like a breeze. But if you’re dealing with a real-life situation that requires specs, diagrams, or heaven forbid—actual help—good luck getting that elusive tech guy to call you back.

So here’s the bottom line: Murphy Door has figured out how to sell expensive puzzles disguised as doors. They’ll gladly take your money, sell you marked-up add-ons, and then leave you hunting for answers like you’re in the middle of a bad escape room.

Would I recommend them? Only if you enjoy frustration as a hobby and believe customer service is optional. Otherwise, save yourself the headache—and your wallet. Stay away if you can.
