Thank you for your review Karen. We appreciate your time. NeedTags strives to provide transparency throughout the entire customer journey. We are not the DMV and make absolutely no claims to that effect. NeedTags is in fact a delegated provider for the California Department of Motor Vehicles. On the header of every page of our website we display the following text, as per California Business Partner Automation requirements, “NOTICE: NeedTags has been officially licensed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles to provide DMV services on their behalf. NeedTags is not owned or operated by any government agency and charges fees for value-add DMV services pursuant to CVC Section 1685. Standard service may be obtained from the DMV at no cost.”

Our website also displays to all customers, before they are asked for any payment information, all fees due, including DMV fees, our service fees, and a detailed explanation of the processes required for order completion. It is impossible to bypass these requirements. We strive to provide a secure and reliable service to all of our customers.

As for the benefits of utilizing our service, although the registration renewal interface (portal) for our users is online, the real work is done behind-the-scenes, by our awesome employees, and we're doing our very best to keep our offices staffed and continue offering our valued customers the expedited DMV services they've come to expect from us, including our super speedy next-day shipping, instant download of your renewed registration card, and our above par customer support.

Thank you for your review, Roy. NeedTags strives to provide transparency throughout the entire customer journey. Regarding Title Transfer services, when a vehicle is required to undergo a California-mandated smog inspection, our correspondence clearly instructs customers to notify our agents once the vehicle has successfully passed inspection. Because Title Transfers are manually processed and cleared by our agents, this step is essential to completing the transaction.

Our records indicate that the customer notified us by phone only after we issued a final notice email. Please note that all California Certificates of Title are issued, printed, and mailed directly by DMV headquarters in Sacramento, CA. This information is included in our communications. Once we complete the title transfer process, NeedTags promptly places the order in queue for title printing through DMV headquarters, and on that same day, we mail to our customer their new registration stickers and registration card. Please contact our customer care department if we can be of any further assistance.

Regarding our Title Transfer services, we provide a comprehensive disclosure prior to checkout that clearly outlines the required documentation, as well as a detailed explanation of the overall process. Our goal is always to ensure customers understand what is needed to successfully complete their transaction.

In certain cases, including this one, additional information or corrections are required to meet California DMV documentation standards. Our agents reached out multiple times to assist and to request the necessary verification so we could move the process forward in compliance with DMV inventory requirements. Unfortunately, the requested corrections were not received, and the submitted documents remained incomplete.

As a result, the order was canceled and a full refund was promptly issued. We remain committed to helping our customers navigate the DMV process as smoothly as possible and are always available to provide guidance when needed.

NeedTags exists to make the process faster, more reliable, and more convenient - without the delays that come with waiting at the DMV. The cost of the actual transfer itself, i.e. DMV registration fees, are finalized/collected only after your paperwork is received by our office. These fees are disclosed and explained in detail prior to checkout, along side a full explanation of the process. Title transfers can be tedious, and it's best to have a trusted DMV registration service provider on your side.

The cost of the actual transfer itself, i.e. DMV registration fees are finalized/collected only after your paperwork is received by our office. This important information is disclosed and explained in detail prior to checkout, alongside a full explanation of the process. We require our customers to acknowledge the necessity of mailing in documents during the checkout process. Our website explicitly states the following, "I agree that I must provide a copy of my identification and original title via mail. Additional documents may be required. Detailed instructions will be emailed after checkout." This information, and and our Terms and Conditions must be accepted. Title transfers can be tedious, and it's best to have a trusted DMV registration service provider on your side.

Thank you for your review, Lisa. Our license plate stickers (tags) are produced using the latest DMV technology with 3M printers, the same method utilized by DMV kiosks. The 3M machine prints both the registration card and the sticker in one process. Our registration cards have the official California State Seal making it an official DMV document. This serves as proof of vehicle ownership and registration with the Department of Motor Vehicles. This document is legally recognized and is required for various purposes, such as driving legally and transferring vehicle ownership. Our tags are official registration tags issued by NeedTags on behalf of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The method of when registration stickers came individually wrapped in nylon bags is no longer relevant. It is important to know that novelty tags are decorative plates intended for personalization rather than official vehicle identification. Please note that NeedTags does not provide services related to novelty tags. NeedTags.com is a state approved Second Line business partner in the California DMV Business Partner Automation (BPA) program. We are agents of the State of California and the State is delegating vehicle registration services to us.
