Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re really sorry Nibbed didn’t live up to your expectations.

Nibbed is quite different from supermarket cocoa powder. Most cocoa powders and hot chocolates are heavily processed, and many have sugar, milk powder or flavourings added, which gives that familiar sweet taste. Our cacao is 100% pure, organic and single-origin, with nothing added at all. It’s made from whole cacao, so its flavour is richer and more earthy, and it’s naturally unsweetened, which can taste quite different at first.

On price: we source our cacao from social enterprises that make sure each farmer is fairly paid for their work, and it’s certified organic. That costs more than mass-produced cocoa, but it’s something we feel strongly about.

To get the best flavour, use a 20g serving and whisk it well into hot (not boiling) milk until it’s smooth and frothy. Adding a little honey, maple syrup or a pinch of sea salt really brings out its depth. Plant milks like coconut also work beautifully.

Hi Conor, thanks for the review.

A couple of things worth clarifying: this is pure, single-origin, organic cacao sourced from smallholder farmers practising regenerative agriculture in Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. It's grated/block cacao, not powder, and we've never described it as raw — that's not a claim we make.

On taste — it's a fair point that it's not for everyone. There's no sweetener in it at all, since it's not chocolate, so it comes across quite dark, rich, and intense. It's a more sophisticated, acquired taste rather than a mass-market one, and we're upfront about that. That said, plenty of people do love it — we've picked up Great Taste Awards over the years, so we'd push back on "not much tastewise."

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we’re glad to hear your delivery arrived quickly.

Our cacao is 100% pure grated cacao — it isn’t sweetened and it’s not designed to taste like traditional hot chocolate. Because there’s no added sugar or flavourings, the flavour is naturally rich, dark and intense. If you’re used to sweet hot chocolate, it can taste more bitter in comparison. Many of our customers enjoy it exactly for that deep, smooth flavour, but we completely understand that it’s not for everyone.

In terms of the fat content, the fat comes naturally from the cacao butter that’s retained in the whole bean. Unlike cacao powders, which have much of the natural fat removed, we keep the bean intact to give a thicker, creamier texture. It’s simply the natural composition of cacao rather than anything added.

We always recommend blending or frothing it well and adding milk of choice, and for those who prefer a sweeter taste, a little maple syrup or honey can balance the bitterness beautifully.
