Styrofoam peanut packaging?? Do better, Otto.
I opened a box of tile samples and released a cloud of tiny little styrofoam pieces in my living room. The harder I tried to catch them, the more they swirled around the room, out the door, down into the meadow and bay, to be swallowed by the hundreds of creatures living there. Thanks a lot, Otto tiles.

Do not buy these tiles. they stain terribly and company will not respond to my outreach. Very disappointed with the quality.

Purchased 100 soleil tiles. Only needed 50 but they were not available in smaller quantities. A quarter of the tiles that have arrived are badly damaged. Many more are so chipped I wouldn’t want to use them. The workmanship therefore appears to be poor for that particular product. The description did specify they are suitable for kitchens bathrooms and swimming pools. However, the tiles are partially unglazed, which would make them unsuitable for anything other than decoration I would think.

UPDATED I tried contacting the company by phone initally but none of the multiple numbers on the website appeared to be working. However there was a quick response to my email and after a couple of emails and phone calls with very helpful and sympathetic members of staff a full refund was arranged.

In summary, disappointing product but great customer service, which I am very grateful for.

Recommendation: providing customers with the option to order samples, correct product information on website, and having a recorded message on the phone to reassure customers that the company is genuine.

The staff were very pleasant in dealing with my query but I waited 2 weeks for a sample and due to warehouse moving I was told it would be another week so I cancelled. Other tiles I like are out of stock/in transit. Who’s got time to wait 12-14 weeks for tiles?!

Moli, hopefully this is the correct spelling of his name was quite helpful. The timeline of tile arrival was spot on. I am quite excited to use tile for my backsplash project in my kitchen. You are getting a beautiful product when purchasing from Otto Tile.

Lovely tiles but disappointing customer service with incorrect lead times displayed on their website. This led to a delay in completing our bathroom project.

A trustworthy, hard working and clean team of professionals. They did an excellent job retiling our bathroom. I’m happy to recommend them and to provide a verbal reference on 07841 602353 if required.

Very happy with tiles received (Encaustic cement cat tiles). All very in good condition and after following the instructions on sealing turned out great. Tiler said good quality to work with.

The process was very clear. Team answered questions quickly and helped me choose the right option.

Gorgeous hand made tiles on the website. We received a beautiful handmade product that was badly stained with what looked looked like chicken shit and blue byro ink all over. Some tiles were pretty badly banged up and chipped. My installer had to buy paint thinner to dissolve all the weird stuff that was on it. Will look great installed but would prefer to work with a more reputable firm that worries about how the tiles are packed. Wish i could attach some photos.

A polished turd of a company..
We saw on the website some beautifully designed encaustic tiles which we ordered to use as a surround for a wood burner.
When they arrived around a third of the tiles had quite bad staining (I’m not the first person to flag this in a review I notice).
I reached out to Otto, who promptly sent me a generic AI generated response clearly intended to fob me off.
The company line is that some variation in colour is to be expected as the tiles are hand made and it’s a natural process.
I completely understand that, I was expecting some colour variation, but not to the extent that I saw in what I had received. I can’t use them- they look stained.
I sent photo evidence but again received an ai generated email which skirted all my questions.
Why on the website do none of the lovely photos showing what you could buy reflect the reality of the result I received?
My last email asking for the worst ones to be replaced has been ignored.
Not only have I wasted time and money on tiles I cannot use, I’ve been left angry and frustrated at the response from the company who clearly couldn’t care less.
Otto tiles please don’t insult me by responding to this review with more drivel about how you’re sorry I feel this way and some colour variation is to be expected etc. Be honest, try caring about your customers and not just their money.

Absolutely beautiful handcrafted tiles and Dilek at Otto Tiles was enormously helpful. Will definitely use them in my next project.

Incredibly frustrating customer service experience. I reached out to the company via phone to request a custom tile order. They advised they could accommodate the request and to send details via email. After emailing with the details I was told by someone else from the “Customer Service” team that the order would not be possible.

Based on what I was told on the phone I had planned the whole room and ordered complimentary items such as the sink and paint etc. Dealing with this company has therefore wasted both my time and money and they couldn’t seem to care less. So if you value your time and money, avoid this company.

I’d recommend Maitland & Poate and Claybrook if you want nice tiles + dealing with a customer service team who actually have knowledge about their products and care about customer experience.

Mali reached out to me to explain there was a communication mistake and that the shipping back was $800 not $1,500. While I still think it is too high, I do appreciate the follow up and care he took in explaining.

I ordered some beautiful tiles back 3 months ago from Otto tiles. I was pregnant and since ordering the tiles I’ve had some health and non health related issues (which I will not go into) which meant that our renovations could not go ahead.

I was told by Otto tiles that they cannot accept a return of the tiles as they would not match the batch. I asked if they would consider just looking at them (as they are still packaged and unused) to see if they match their current batch as the May well be fine. However, they refused to even look at them, they just straight up said no. I understand the return policy but given what I’ve gone through all I was asking them was to look at them.

I even asked if they wanted to give me store credit instead of a refund as I’m sure one day I will buy more tiles from them and again, they did not even entertain the idea.

Very cold, insensitive and I compassion company.

Interesting to read in the comments here that ottotiles is delivering tiles all around the world. We tried to order tiles and wanted to get them sent to Germany. We were told that they do not do that. Yes, there was the brexit, but shipping should still be possible. To us this just sounded very lazy.

I wanted some exterior tiles to complete a newly designed tropical courtyard garden. I came across the Petal design which looked perfect but I was slightly hesitant having never used encaustic tiles before. I contacted the company several times and always received a prompt and helpful reply including being sent a detailed aftercare guide. The tiles were delayed a week due to container issues. They eventually arrived carefully packaged on a pallet. They are now in situ and look fab.
