I am very disappointed with my Popur…

I am very disappointed with my Popur automatic litter box.

It has now broken down for the second time. The first issue was resolved after a software update, but now it has stopped working completely again. What is even more frustrating is that I contacted support and received no response.

I am also part of a Facebook group for Popur users, and I can see that many other customers are experiencing similar issues, which raises serious concerns about reliability and customer service.

At this point, I cannot recommend this product due to repeated malfunctions and lack of support.

This is an awesome litter box

This is an awesome litter box! So easy to refill the litter, and empty the waste. And my cats love it! We have a LR4, a traditional box, and the S7 and my cats use the S7 so much more than the other two. Really satisfied!

Very satisfied with my newPopur S7

I have been using the Popur S7 for my 3 cats for about a week. Assembly was easy and I had no issues settling up the app with my iPhone.
I am very happy with it. I prefer using the manual mode (but like having the choice!)so I can be sure my one fearful cat isn’t around when it cycles. But all of them are happily using it.
Because all the parts of the unit are readily accessible, any minor cleanup problems are easy to deal with—something that was not so true for my LR 4!
I don’t find the S 7 particularly loud and so far would absolutely recommend it. It is doing everything I hoped it would do!

Ten stars -- five for the product and five for the company.

Fantastic product and even better company. When there was a problem caused by the shipping company, Popur very quickly moved to make things right.

We've had the X5 box for over three weeks -- our two cats love it (the kitten a little too much, she's fascinated by the movement and sometimes surfs on top of it as it flips), and we just emptied the box for the first time.

Highly recommend the company and the product. We did a lot of research on the other options and talked to our son and daughter-in-law who have one, and are glad we ended up with Popur.

The only drawback so far is that the app can be a little flaky and underbaked, and better documentation to understand the settings and options would be useful.

But did I mention no scooping? Ever? So awesome. And it doesn't make sense, but we seem to be using less litter than with a normal litter box.

The Popur S7 is a complete flop!

Do not buy the s7!! I only upgraded my older version Popur box in order to more easily clean the parts. The x5 was extremely difficult to take apart, you have to use screw drivers to clean in.

Thinking I had upgraded to a nicer newer box, jokes on me...Multiple issues from the very beginning. Their customer support gives candid responses, and will not accept returns through KS, although they sent out products that were entirely not ready for use. The litter pan is way smaller than the X5 which is not good for big cats.

The app barely works, the box glitches, the box pours litter all over the floor. Its insane how many issue this box has. I will continue to leave reviews for this box, as I do not want others to follow my mistake in purchasing.

What a nightmare..

Based on the information shared with our team, it appears the litter tray may not have been fully locked into place during installation. When the tray is properly secured on both sides, the unit remains stable throughout the cleaning cycle and will not pour litter. Our support team has already shared guidance on how to properly secure the tray to prevent this from happening.

Some early issues reported by users have also been addressed through hardware revisions and recent updates. At the same time, we acknowledge that the app still has room for improvement, and our team is actively working on making it more stable and feature-complete.

Excellent purchase, worth every penny!!

Ok I’ve seen some negative feedback on here and Facebook - I just purchased a box and here are the pros and cons.
The issues people have had seem to be with the company app and the new S7 version. The app admittedly isn’t great, but I think it’s been improving over time and likely will be good given some more time.
I don’t need a ton of phone features - what has consistently worked so far has been the notifications every time the box was used/cleaned, as well as when the waste bin was either full or something was wrong with the bin (my 5 year old messed with it at one point 🙄). Honestly that’s what I really care about. I won’t fight over something like weighing my cats, or monitoring how long they’re in the box. It isn’t really important to me. The things I do care about work.
As for the X5, it’s fantastic. This is the version I purchased after reading reviews online and I’m SO happy with it. I feel like these should be a mandatory purchase when you get a cat 😂😂 (unless you’re literally scooping every time they potty!)
I regret not buying one YEARS ago!!! No more arguing over scooping the box, no more nasty smells or unhappy cats. 😁
I strongly considered a litter robot for some time but personally I think this is better. A drum is harder to clean, holds more smells, and some cats don’t like enclosed boxes. Not to mention it’s like double the price!! There’s also an add on for the box if your cat likes to kick litter around 🙂
This box is open, simple but effective, super easy to clean (though it isn’t necessary to wipe it down very often) and makes life so much better for everyone, cats and humans alike. Our litter lasts much longer when it’s scooped after every use!
The only thing they could MAYBE consider is a special line that is extra large for really big cats, like servals, bobcats, big hybrids etc. But that’s just something to consider one day, this box accommodates our regular sized cats just fine 🙂
10/10 would definitely purchase again.

Popur X5 has changed our quality of life

Popur X5 has changed our quality of life. We bought our first box in July of 2023, and a second one in March of 2026. It’s the best, safest automatic litter box for that price point. All other options are either double the price, or simply not safe with too many safety risks. Popur made the most perfect, safest, reliable litter box. It is the hardest worker in our household and has helped us enjoy or cats more. Customer service is also excellent, helpful and friendly.

Definitely recommend this system.

I have had my Popur for about 3 years now.
It always works, it traps odors so well you wouldn’t know I have cats.
I get asked every time someone comes over and sees my 3 big cats, what I do to keep the smells away. I only have to empty the waste about 1 time a week, it could go longer but I like to be consistent, and not wait until it fills up and allows the smells out.
It’s pretty easy to clean, it always works, replacement parts are available if needed which I like.
My only gripe was that I wish the app was better, but I just gave up on that yeara ago and just use it as it is.
There are bag refills on Amazon which is also a plus, although, I tried the knock offs and they are terrible and don’t do as well as the company branded bags, so I have returned to using their brand, but I like that I can grab them on Amazon.
I would definitely recommend this litter box system.

The Popur S7 is the best litter robot…

The Popur S7 is the best litter robot I’ve ever had. I tried the Litter Robot, and the Neakasa. Everything else has a design flaw in that the litter smells as it accumulates. My cat is such a princess that when she smells it too she will go elsewhere and pee on top of clothes, etc. She finally stopped doing that with the Popur S7 because it stores and seals the used litter separately. Genius.

Best purchase for my cats and me

I love it. I’ve only had two problems with it and we were able to fix it over the phone when the program needed an upgrade. The other problem was the trash lid and they replaced it right away.

I would however like an easier way to clean it and remove the old litter.

Do Not Buy! Cheaply Made and Horrible Customer Service

ETA: I posted the same exact review in the “Popur Official Launch Group.” Last I checked it was pending review, now I cannot find the group at all. They must have blocked me. Shameful. Any company that cannot handle feedback and censors voices is an F in my book. Blocking & silencing product owners instead of addressing their issues, makes Popur look like commie.

“My Review of Popur S7 and Popur Customer Service. BLUF - I do not recommend Popur to others nor would I purchase anything from them again.”

I own five LR4s, but was in need of an open top automatic litter box because one of my Maine Coons decided to stop using the LR4 and has been going outside of the LR4. So I’m having to use a regular litter box for her.

After seeing several Popur ads across all forms of social media, I decided to give the Popur S7 a try and I order two S7s, one for myself and one for my S/O.

Significant issues experienced:

1. The app just does not work. Not even with the so-called perks Popur advertises the app to have.

2. Software updates do not actually fix any issues.

3. It seems as if though software updates are pushed out without working through any bugs and Popur should really consider spending more of their money on the product and app vs. on advertising.

4. The S7 does not actually track different cats coming in nor weigh them as advertised.

5. I could not open the waste bin from app even though it’s listed as a feature. Had to unplug the S7 and manually open the waste bin each time.

6. The S7 frequently disconnected from WiFi.

7. The S7 does not level the litter level properly after a cycle. Tried recommended troubleshooting, issue remained.

8. While the cleaning cycle was quiet the first week, after that it became extremely loud and could be heard across the home. It sounded like something was breaking.

9. Mod/Admins of the official launch support group are censoring and deleting posts from other owners. There have been many instances where I’ve replied in posts, citing I have the same issue and/or I click on “get notifications for this post” and those post are no longer in the group. This comes across as shady to me and screams lacks of transparency.

10. I did not realize the company is not actually based in the USA and that the Popur is made in and shipped from China. I typically do not like purchasing things that are not made in the USA, but will make exceptions if the reviews show the product is consistently highly rated.

11. I did not like that there is no phone number to call like Whiskers has. When I did not get answers to questions submitted by email to Popur, I DM’d them here on Facebook. I was told their email was experiencing “glitches” and to utilize DM for questions.

12. Reading experiences from other Popur owners that Popur customer service was telling them to wait for software updates to fix issues, but never did, making their 30-day return window run out, left a sour taste in my mouth for this company, but I wanted to keep giving it a try.

13. Extra waste bin bags ordered from Popur were hard as a rock and would not properly sit flat in the waste bin, causing errors when the sifter attempted to dump used litter.

14. Clumps that the sifter does not move to the waste bin. Experienced this issue, several times, regardless of the type of litter used. After having to manually clean the S7 three times, I finally gave up and initiated a return.

15. Upon initiating the return within the 30-day return window, I found Popur customer service to be very rude and unprofessional.

PLEASE NOTE: if you plan on returning an X5 or S7 Popur requires that initiating the return AND making the return must be within 30-days. Which seems somewhat odd if someone initiates a return on the 27th-29th day and has to wait until Popur reviews the request, makes a determination on if they approve the return, and then provide a prepaid label. That of course takes a few days. They then conveniently call it an “out of policy” courtesy refund.

16. Popur charges a 6% “finance fee.” This is not a restocking fee, or cleaning fee, which are explicitly excluded in their return policy. Popur’s return policy states, “All refunds—including cancellations and returns—are subject to a 6% fee, which reflects the non-refundable processing costs charged by payment processors at the time of purchase.”

I asked Popur if they could provide more details about the “processing costs charged by payment processors at the time of purchase,” so I could better understand the fee and was told - “Return shipping cost is over $50 each even with our preferential rate.”

That sounds like a restocking fee or fee to cover return shipping, even though a prepaid label is provided. For this price point which is on par with that of the litter robot, I expect better customer service, a product that actually functions, & advertised features to work

I’ve had my Popur for over a year now…

I’ve had my Popur for over a year now with 3 Maine coons and it’s just been such a blessing. Haven’t had any issues, but even if it did I would totally get a new one as I feel it has totally paid for itself.

The S7 is a game-changer for me

I purchased the S7 as an early adopter shortly after the kickstarter ended. This is my first real auto-litter box and I’ve been dying to try one, but the drum-shaped ones always made me nervous since neither myself, nor my kitties like the idea of being enclosed. I have 7 cats who were former ferals, so their personalities are all on the more skittish side. (I socialize the extra spicy kittens for TNVR trappers if there’s a chance for adoption, but I’ve have had my share of “foster fails,” which is how I wound up with the 7 little loves that I call mine.) I got my first S7 late December 2025 and my second mid-Jan, knowing I had a hip replacement scheduled in February. I went from 6 huge litter boxes to two S7s and kept one of the old boxes in the room for a few weeks as they got acclimated. Let me tell you, these boxes are an absolute game-changer! I know there are a few kinks with the app as the bugs get worked out since this is new to the market, but even with that, I’ve never been so pleased with a purchase. I clean out the bins once a week and pretty much don’t have to think about it other than that. I do monitor the boxes (via app and in person) to make sure nothing is stopped or stuck and I refill the litter level as it gets low, but that’s it. If you get a stool or something for the height, just make sure to leave it a few inches away from the front so it doesn’t catch when the box cycles. I can’t wait until I receive my guardrails (coming soon) because I do have a high pee-er, so I’m hoping that helps and I can finally put some mats underneath to help with the litter tracking! I also can’t wait for the future functionality of the app to become available! I don’t normally leave reviews, but what a great product! It has absolutely changed my hatred of litter boxes. There’s hardly any smell too and I’m just using tidy cats lightweight litter. (Note: While I’m healing from surgery, I can’t clean the boxes, but it’s much easier to convince a friend to help remove a bag once a week than to clean 6 huge, stinky litter boxes). I would purchase this again and highly recommend! Just be patient as they work through the kinks of your order before everything has been released for the S7.

Update: I did contact customer service for a liner sticking issue and they were amazing! Their responsiveness to my question (within 24 hours) was considerate and caring, and it really showed they truly care about and believe in making the best product and providing the best experience for their customers and furry companions. I know the response time received some complaints as the bulk of the S7 pre-order and early order units were first being shipped, but if you consider the logistics issues they were experiencing with the ever-changing tariffs and typhoons that were happening at the same time and give them some grace, it’s understandable. I believe they’re back on track now and they’re wonderful!

We absolutely LOVE their boxes (and our cats do as well). We have 2 cats that have been using Popur since 2023. Our initial purchase unfortunately was damaged in shipping, but the company was both quick to respond and resolve our issues.

Just this year we decided to upgrade one of our two boxes to the newest model. I thought about branching out to a different brand, but when I researched the options I kept coming back to Popur's safety ratings, as it is considered one of the safest automatic litter boxes on the market (cheaper alternatives can be more dangerous). So I stuck with Popur and got the S7. It arrived on schedule, easy to set up, and we've had it now for almost 3 weeks and the cats took right to it from day one. If easier disassembly for cleaning is a priority for you, it's worth the upgrade, but both models have been game-changers for us in not having to smell the litter or scoop daily.

I initially bought an X5 over a year ago for my mother-in-laws room. After 8 months I noticed something about it, it cycled so fast and so quiet that I never knew it was running. I have two Litter Genies (the ones that wash the litter than flush it down the toilet) which I also like, however the extremely long cycle with multiple cats has resulted in a few “accidents” as they were not available to the other cats during their cleaning cycle, plus they are extremely noisy when cycling and must be in the bathroom.
So when I noticed how quiet the x5 was, how quickly it cycles and the upshot that it only needed a plug in, we bought a second one. Because it is SO quiet, we can have it near the back door and we don’t even notice its cycle so it doesn’t disturb our daily routines. The cats have adapted to it quite well and even though we still have the Litter Genies, which occasionally get used still, our cats have adapted to the X5, using it more.
However OF the four cats we have only ONE refuses to use any automatic cleaning boxes, but he has his own box in my son’s room that is his.
The only reason I don’t give the X5 a 5 stars review is that the initial version came with a cardboard bin (which quickly crumbled) so we bought the plastic bin (MAJOR upgrade), there is no sensor to tell if the bin is full so by the time anyone notices it’s full it’s over flowing it’s a mess. (Luckly it very easy to clean the plastic bin and the top separates from the motor unit for easy cleaning) The app keep signing me out so it makes it difficult to monitor usage all the time. This makes the one in my mother in laws room more subject over overflow.
Things I love most about the X5 is the open top design. The ease and speed at which the cycle starts, runs and performs. I really feel that should our cats somehow end up in the mechanism that they would be able to easily get out of the way. Our one cat is so unafraid of the device that he’s been witness taking a ride up and down on it 🙄 while we have been gone. (We have a camera which can see the one box so we can tell if the one cat ever decides to change its mind about using it) and the quantity of litter it can hold.
Final note- though regular clumping litter works fantastic you can hear the motor struggle a little during its cycle, so we use “lightweight litter” and this helps if you accidentally add too much litter as the X5 struggles so much less and seems to cycle faster.
Would love to try the new s7 series, but considering I have 2 X5 boxes and the litter genies I can’t justify the upgrade, nor the cost.

This was worth the wait and the money ! I have 5 cats and have tried 4 other brands - and this type is actually the most effective and clean ! Way easier to maintain as well ! Thank you Popur for such an amazing product!
