Be very careful when choosing RAC
Online app service is shocking, I kept going around in circles, i was on the app for nearly 2 hours, there is no customer service number to call, I was trying to cancel a policy in the cooling off period as I’d pick ticker policy in error, I still has to pay over £100 even though I was writhin the cooling off period of 14 days and the policy hadn’t even started, beware

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you found our online service difficult to use and that your experience did not meet your expectations.
We understand how frustrating it must have been to spend so much time trying to cancel your policy. While your policy may have been within the 14-day cooling-off period and had not yet started, the terms and conditions of the policy do allow for a cancellation fee during this period. Our cancellation fee is £25 if a policy is cancelled within 14 days of inception, and this is outlined before the policy is purchased.
We appreciate your comments regarding the online journey and the availability of customer support, and we will ensure your feedback is shared with the relevant teams as we continue to improve our service.

New car insurance
Although I have taken out insurance with the RAC, I was very disappointed when my premium was increased because I did not declare a no fault claim on my previous insurance. I did not realize that you still have to declare a NO FAULT claim.

When providing a quote, we ask customers to declare all claims, including non-fault claims, as insurers take all claims into account when calculating a premium. Although a claim may not have been your fault, it can still affect the price offered by the insurer. We ask for this information at the quotation stage to help avoid any unexpected changes to the premium once the policy has been set up and validation checks have been completed.
We appreciate that this may not have been something you were aware of, and we understand your disappointment. Thank you again for your feedback.

Renewal without any input from me, making sure that my cover was redone without fuss or delay, is very comforting, knowing that all will be taken care of. On this occasion this included a very welcome reduction in the premium.

Competitive quote with a good level of cover. Website easy enough to navigate and clear comms.
Registration a bit confusing at first, as the Car Insurance site is separate to 'My RAC' registration. So took a few unsuccessful attempts and a failed password reset before I realised.

Value of a real person to talk to……
Found it difficult and very frustrating to talk to chatbot, but when finally got through to a real person to speak to and sort out the problem , the experience was extremely helpful. My thanks to the person involved for his extreme patience and understanding and the problem has been sorted efficiently.

I chose RAC due to having a similar policy to what I previously had but at a better price. I would have preferred to take out a policy with a company I can speak with but money is a big factor these days.
