perfect company to purchase from, products are amazing and look quality

When I ordered the gutters and downpipes for a Grade II* listed building, I specifically asked for the rotten fascia board behind the old gutters to be removed, and for the new gutters to be fixed directly to the building. I was told that could be done. There was assorted messing about at the time of the fitting, and the new downpipe was attached to an old plastic stump protruding from the ground. Yeoman Rainguard did at least come back to put that right when I complained. I still have a pipe which had to go into a water butt, and the fitters told me the gutters I’d bought were too shallow, but I’m ignoring all that for now.

Just over a year since they finished the work off, in February 2024, I’ve got the builders back and have realised the new gutters were fitted to the old rotten fascia board. I hadn’t noticed at the time, as I was more concerned with what was going on at ground level with the plastic pipe stump, and with the pipe going into a water butt at the back, and the scaffolding was gone by then, so no one could inspect their work anyway. So I trusted Yeoman Rainguard and assumed their guarantee would hold up, but frankly I shouldn’t have, as much of the work will now need to be redone.

So here I am now having to pay for all the gutters to come down again while fascias are fitted and then for them to go back up again. I’ve offered Yeoman Rainguard the chance to quote for the additional work, what I asked for in the first place, to get the rotten fascia down and either replace with aluminium fascia or affix direct to the building, but of course they don’t want to know, so the guarantee they gave me will be invalidated because someone else will have to refit the gutters. So to recover my costs, it’ll have to be the Court.

If you’re currently considering Yeoman Rainguard for your cast aluminium guttering or downpipes, I recommend that you don’t. The product itself is excellent, looks beautiful and is likely to get approved by planning and/or listed buildings, but the fitting and advice is appalling.
