Razorpay puts funds on hold


For over a month now, Razorpay has placed our legitimate business funds on hold without any clarity, justification, or resolution—despite us providing all requested invoices, delivery proofs, and business details.

👉 When asked for customer confirmations (an unusual and impractical demand for physical product delivery), we still cooperated.
👉 When asked to show delivery proofs for multiple orders, we complied.
👉 When asked about our suppliers (a confidential business matter), we respectfully asked for the rationale.
👉 We received nothing in return but repeated delays, templated replies, and zero accountability.

Very Bad experience with Razorpay…

Very Bad experience with Razorpay Merchant onboarding. I have applied for an merchant account for my astrology website where I sell my consultancy services. I have submitted all my documents like PAN, aadhaar, Business documents, and all. Later, they called me and in the name of proof of profession they want to know that I have any degree in Astrology or not? This makes no sense. My degree doesn't have any relation to my business, and how they ask me for this. Off course, I have that degree, but why did I submit it to them? Do they give me employment?

So, If someone opens a grocery store online, then they ask for their graduation or degree in FMCG? That's completely baseless.

I have applied for Phonepe, Payu, and CCavenue. They all approved my account, and now I am using them. They never ask me for my qualifications or degree or Certificates.

Very Bad Payment gateway company is Razorpay. I will also report them to RBI.

I had a very poor experience with…

I had a very poor experience with Razorpay POS. The device never worked for UPI payments — the primary mode of payment used by my customers. Despite raising multiple complaints and following up for over 10 months, the issue was never resolved.
All I received were generic responses, repeated requests for screenshots, and false promises. My valuable time was wasted on endless phone calls and emails, but nothing improved. No real accountability, no urgency to solve problems, and no respect for customer time.
Even after paying for the device, I could not make use of it at all. In the end, I was told the TID was deactivated and a new device had to be applied for — adding further frustration.
This kind of service is unprofessional, mentally exhausting, and damaging to small businesses. I do not recommend Razorpay POS to anyone who values timely support and functional service.

Several attempts. Always bad...

I tried to get things set up with Razorpay several times. Each and every time it's been a hassle. The support team is nearly non-existing, it's almost impossible to get answers to simple questions, they just keep repeating the same robotic answers. We really wanted to get out of Stripe and move things to Razorpay, an Indian company. But nope, after 2 months of back and forth with Razorpay, there is no way to move all our payments to this platform... it's a pity because the platform looks great. But the team behind it doesn't.

Pathetic Service

We recently created the account and just needed a small support to delete website from UI which was wrongly added. Actually this option should given to us directly in UI itself.
Now last 3-4 days i am following with support team which are incompetent, their only job is to say that 'the technical team is checking the issue on a priority basis and you will get the resolution by 24-48 hrs'
this same thing they are saying for last 3 days.
Also creating multiple tickets for the same issue and its fully a mess
Please think once before opting for razorpay payment service.
Now we are stuck and not able to add the live website until this issue is resolved

Payment Failed but Money Deducted – No Support or Refund

I made a UPI payment of ₹2,004.82 on 24th May 2025 through Razorpay while trying to renew my Hostinger hosting plan. I scanned the QR code and completed the payment using my ICICI UPI ID .

Razorpay showed a Payment Failed status, but the money was still deducted from my bank account. It has been several days now, and I have neither received my service nor my refund.

What's worse is Razorpay's terrible customer support. Their official support page constantly throws an error: “Please check your internet and try again,” despite having a stable connection. Their support email is non-functional and automatically replies that it's unmonitored. There is no helpline or human support.

I’ve attached the payment failure screenshot and Razorpay Payment ID (pay_QYi73fXgvAvDQM), but there has been no response or resolution.

This has been a frustrating experience. I urge others to be extremely cautious while using Razorpay for payments. If something goes wrong, you are completely on your own.

Incompetent Razorpay customer care and escalation team

Its a hopeless company and its customer service, takes months to resolve a single issue, with multiple complaint tickets raised and not attending a single one. The Escalation team and its nodal officers are even more incompetent, better to report to ombusdman or approriate authorites to remove such companies from customer portals.

I tried to contact them many times but their contact form doesn't work, finally I found their Email address and Emailed them but after 5 days they didn't answer me so I had to report it to my bank for a charge back.

Razorpay: A Payment Gateway Nightmare - Endless Documentation, Delayed Settlements, and Poor Support

1/5 - A Nightmare to Deal With!

Razorpay's payment gateway is a complete disaster! After initially allowing transactions, they suddenly raise "risk alerts" and start demanding an endless list of documents and clarifications. It's like they're intentionally trying to hold your funds and disrupt your business.

The process is slow, painful, and frustrating. They're always asking for more information, one query at a time, with a 48-72 hour gap between each question. Even after providing everything, they come up with new requirements, like a board resolution on a specific format. Their verification process is also a joke, claiming your registered address is "not traceable" even when it's accurate and verifiable.

Their customer support is unresponsive and unhelpful, leaving you hanging for days without any resolution. It's clear they're more interested in holding your funds than in helping your business succeed. Avoid Razorpay at all costs! Look for alternative payment gateways that actually care about their merchants.

I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU

They took ₹1499 from me (I have the receipt from them, saved) saying an onboarding expert will help me onboard. If onboarding doesn't happen they will return the money.

Neither did I recieve a call, nor was I onboarded, nor did I get my money back. I am going to put a consumer court case. I have had it. I have repeatedly sent emails, but to no response. I have raised tickets but the support staff doesn't know what to do.

It's a failing company. I am willing to bet it's demise will come in the coming few years. It's my curse on them. I will make sure this review reaches the board of directors or founders. I will use Twitter (X) and other platforms.

The funny thing is, I had a previous negative review. They called me, and asked me to take it down, promising that they will help. I like a idiot deleted my 1 star review. And now they don't give a s**t.

Please I request you, stay away from these monster and don't give them your business. Thesy are unprofessional as hell.

—— Experience 3 (Dated 20-04-25): As anticipated, Razorpay has once again revealed its lack of transparency by placing my account under review and holding my second invoice payment. This action was taken shortly after I stood firm against their request to refrain from sharing my experience publicly. When I insisted on ethical practices and accountability, they responded by blocking my payout.
To clarify, I have already received two successful payments from the same client. This is the third payment, and suddenly it has been flagged with a "Risk Alert". It raises serious questions—if the first two transactions were cleared without issue, how is the third one from the same client now considered risky?
Here is the message I received from Razorpay:

“We have received a risk alert regarding your account's non-compliance with regulatory guidelines from one of our partner banks. 
To promptly resolve this issue, we require detailed invoices for the payments received under the specified payment IDs:
pay_QK4DDbxKZnNSjq
Kindly contact the customer and obtain an email confirmation from the cardholder stating their satisfaction with the services received. Please send us the confirmation by taking a screenshot of the email from your Gmail and attaching it as a PDF/.jpeg/.png in the same email thread.
Also, ensure that the email IDs of both the sender and recipient are visible when sending this to us.”

In response, I have already submitted the invoice and a screenshot of the confirmation email I sent to my client. I will follow up with an additional screenshot once I receive their reply.

Meanwhile, I have formally requested Razorpay to share the actual risk alert or evidence they claim to have received from their partner bank. Honestly, I don’t expect them to provide it—because I highly doubt any such alert exists. I will continue to keep you updated.

—— Experience 2 (Dated 14-04-25): Again the same thing happened, even after they assured that Razorpays charge genuine fee I.e. 3% + GST! I received another payment from a client today (my last one through RazorPay) I.e. US$570. Today’s USD to INR Rate is 85.49 so ideally the captured amount should be INR 48729.30 however, the captured amount in RazorPay dashboard is INR 47537.45 so they already deducted 1191.85. Deduction they made INR 1682.83 (1426.13 + 256.70) so total they have deducted INR 2874.68. - What genuine they should pay me: INR 48729.30 - 1725 (1461.87+263.13) = INR 47004.30 - What they are paying me (that too after 12 days as they are enjoying my payment’s interest as well): INR 47537.45 - 1682.83 = 45854.62. If you can calculate, decide if you want to go with them for not. I have all screenshots, DM me if you want to see it live and I will show you everything with proofs.

—— Experience 1 (Dated: 11-04-25):
This is a 100% FRAUD company. If anyone is getting any international payments, don't use them as they will deduct HUGE money on every transaction + they will enjoy 12 days interest on your money. They will firstly count USD to INR rate by their own (not what is actual that day's rate) and on the remaining they will deduct their said %age with GST so you will pay double but you will feel that they are charging genuine (if you are not aware about that day's conversion rate). I got US$1500 from a client. The time I received the payment USD to INR was ₹ 86.07/ USD so ideally I should receive ₹129105 but they showed me ₹125896.30 in my dashboard so they already took ₹3208.70 and then they deducted ₹4456.73 (Razorpay Fee - ₹3,776.89 GST - ₹ 679.84) so in total they deducted ₹7665.43. The highest of frustration was when I contacted their support and requested them to refund full US$1500 to my client and they asked me to credit ₹4456.73 in my account to match ₹125896.30 amount as they already deducted their platform charges as I used it!! On Top of this, they will release this payment on April 23rd. Today is April 11 so they are further enjoying my payment for next 12 days and earn interest on my payment from others. I have full screenshots of the chat (as they denied to provide the chat record) and have screenshots of my dashboard. Let me know if anyone want to see that. If you still want to use them… All the best!!!

Razorpay - Worst Payment Gateway Experience Ever



I had a terrible experience with Razorpay — not just once, but multiple times across my business and my clients' businesses. They abruptly hold payments without warning, citing vague reasons like "Your settlements are on-hold because your business doesn't meet our risk and compliance requirements."
Even after providing all documents and operating legitimate businesses, they freeze funds without clear timelines for resolution. My ticket ID is 4978858 — still unresolved.
This constant holding of hard-earned money without valid justification causes massive cashflow issues. Razorpay’s risk team acts without transparency, and support is slow and unhelpful.
If you care about your business growth, stay away from Razorpay. Easily the worst payment gateway experience I've ever had.
